We haven't blown away

We're staying nice and warm and while the storm was fierce here, we had no worries. Well, the truck doors were frozen shut....but nothing big. Everyone is heathy and happy.

The results from Collin's nuclear scan indicated that there was no enlarged parathyroid, so for now they're going to continue to monitor him. But, they've changed their course so many times, only time will tell if this is truly what they're going to do. From what I've read and discussed with different doctors, I think we should get a second opinion, but I'm waiting to see what my local doctor thinks. So, I'll continue to keep you posted.

Here are pictures of Mom enjoying the kids. They have had a blast making cookies and candy this season. Jayden is a helper in all things regarding cooking. He loves it. He helps pick out the recipes and then helps make them.

Collin's Results

We do not have his results yet, I called and they are not all in yet. So I'm waiting..........and waiting.........

Hopefully we'll know soon.

snags

It seems that I can only get four pictures at a time to load, so all my attempts at a coherent showing of our house is for naught. I'll attempt to label all the pictures, but that's probably as good as it's going to get tonight. I'm tired and headed to bed.
This is the kitchen......

This is the living room looking in from the dinning area......well really I'm about halfway in the room. The giant TV is a gift from some wonderful friends who were upgrading to HDTV.

Collin playing the piano, taken looking back towards the kitchen/dinning area.

The office, in which the closet threw up last Friday when I was looking for some documentation....and I haven't entirely cleaned up yet.......

This is Lee, Jayden and Max's room, here you're looking at Jayden's bed, their book shelf and their clothes shelf.

This is Lee's loft bed.

A different shot of Lee's bed, who is very, very thrilled to have this bed with it's desk underneath and with the chair that we just were given this past weekend. He's a happy camper now.

testing

I actually got some pictures taken of the house and now I'm trying to get them to post...... here's hoping!

This is our school room, the light was very difficult to work with, sorry. The large tank has our 4 yr old albino, candy corn variation, corn snake in it. The smaller tank has a juvenile painted turtle in it.
This is another corner of the school room, it recently underwent some changes, so it's still a little chaotic in here. The tank on the far wall has another corn snake in it, he's probably around 18 mths to 2 yrs. The closest tank has a lavender corn snake in it and she's probably under a year.
This is our hallway computer station, it's never been completely organized yet......

Catch Up

I know I still have a few people checking my blog and I apologize for the lack of content. But if it makes you feel any better, I haven't even managed to keep the people living with me in the loop!! It's been crazy hectic here.

So first up....Collin is doing OK, I don't know who knows what all, so here's a brief summing up of the situation. Collin had a physical in Sept. that reveled that he had high calcium levels, so he was sent to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. There they told us we'd do a wait and see with him. A couple of weeks after that apt. I got a call that because his levels were still high Collin needed to have an ultrasound of his parathyroids (read all about parathyroids here.... ) The ultrasound did reveal an enlarged parathyroid or lymph gland. We were again told to wait and see until Jan. But a few days later, after the Dr. consulted with some other Drs. he sent us to do a nuclear test of the same area. So that was on Wed. We're now waiting to hear back from the Dr. and see what he thinks now.....but he has told us in a previous conversation that most likely we're headed to talk to a surgeon to schedule a surgery to remove the enlarged parathyroid. So, I'll try to keep you posted here.

Happy, the dog, has had two more seizures last month, they were within two weeks of each other. I've been doing some research on that and trying to figure out what our best course of action is for him. Medications and diet change are the most common actions, but I'm not real excited to do those. They are very much trial and error to figure out the amount of meds and to figure out whether the change in diet is going affect him or not. Sooooo, I'm sitting on the fence.

We're still getting things arranged here at the farm house and helping Mom settle in at the Cabin, so that keeps us hopping too. We got a pellet stove for the cabin this week and Brent got it going last night, so we're hoping that will provide a nice steady heat for Mom, rather than dealing with keeping the wood stove loaded with wood.

I had a blood test to see if I had the same genetic blood issue that my Dad had, which is Leiden Factor V. I got the results back on that this Monday and I do indeed have it, so now I get to meet with a hematologist on Friday to find out about that and to see if the boys need to be tested. We have been told that in the past by other doctors, so we think that it's likely that we'll be doing them in the near future. Here are a few websites on this, this one is a basic info sight http://www.fvleiden.org/ This one is more scientific http://www.med.uiuc.edu/hematology/PtFacV2.htm

Remember, I only got tested because of my Dad, I am not currently dealing with any issues stemming from this. I do not expect to deal with any issues anytime soon because of this.

I think that it's for moment........

These pictures are from our first summer on the farm (2006). I used them to test uploading pictures to my blog, so now I'll leave them for you to enjoy.
