George and my dad played golf together the week we were home. One of the days they met up with my dad’s friend Bill. Bill’s son, Mark, and daughter in law Jill also played with them. Conversation as usual led to the wedding. My dad found out Mark and Jill also got married at Landfall. Mark and Jill shared some ideas they had at their wedding. So of course, that night at dinner, my dad gave a wedding idea.
D: I have a great idea for the wedding! I thought of it today.
M: Oh, great. What is it?
D: I think you and George, and the entire bridal party, should meet at the beginning of the 18th hole. I will have golf carts lined up waiting for you. On cue, you each get into a golf cart, drive up the golf path, to the guests, waiting for you at the cocktail hour. What do you think?
M: That is a good idea. But, um, I don’t foresee that working. The girls will already be at the cocktail hour, so they would have to leave to come back, and then we have the piper situation. I think it’s too much.
D: Well, I thought my idea was great.
I turn to look to George and my mom for support. All I see is George shaking his head with his eyes closed and my mom seething with anger.
