Our Lil Chicken...

Carson with his chicken mask he had to make for school. They started a "Farm Unit" this week and were instructed to make a mask of one of five different farm animals. Carson decided to make a chicken mask to honor his cousins (Em and Henry's chicken children!). :)
He made this all by himself with just a little guidance and suggestion from me. Cute huh?

Big "Helper"

Collier trying to be a big helper one morning while his Daddy was in the shower. I would like to think that maybe he dumped the laundry out and was trying to sort it (like he sees me do)...not just be a huge mess makin lil stinker!

Carson's Prayer for Papa

One morning a few weeks ago during church, Carson came back from Children's Chapel with this card. When I looked at it I initially thought he had said "PawPaw" (what the kids call Kenny's Dad) and the teacher had written "Papa". I leaned over and asked him "Who did you pray for today?". He said "Papa...you know Mommy the one who lived with Marmee...the one who died?" I had to leave the sanctuary because I was crying so hard! When I came back in one of the ladies standing at the back asked me if I was ok (because I am sure I looked like a mess). I told her what had happened and she said "well, God must have been talking to Carson about Papa, you know kids can hear God much better than adults can".
I think it is so interesting that Carson thought of him. Although, we do talk about him from time to time, Carson never really KNEW him. He was a baby when Papa started showing signs of Alzheimer's Disease and once he became very sick, we took Carson to see him very rarely. Carson had just turned 5 when Papa died.
On the way home from church I asked Carson why he had prayed specifically for Papa. He shrugged and said "I don't know, I was just thinking about him". I told him that made my heart very happy!

Collier's Lil Ladies...

Collier with all his lil lady friends...and he has a lot of them! :)

Yeah for playin with the girls...who needs to play with boys?

Wouldn't you smile too if you had such cute girls to play with?

Basketball

Carson played his first season of B-ball in Jan/Feb at a friend's church. The program is called UPWARD...what a GREAT experience. The team was coached by our friend Paige (Sam's Mom) and then she recruited Kenny to be the assistant coach. They all had a great season and a lot of fun. I spent most of my time chasing Collier around the gym...try explaining to a 19 month old that he can not go out there and play with that ball and those big kids (especially when he thinks he is just as big as they are)! :)

Basketball Buddies...Sam and Carson

Coach Dad giving some encouragement as Carson takes it down the court

And he shoots! Not sure if he scored on that one or not, but he did score several times throughout the season. It was great to see the difference in the kids as the season progressed. The difference between the first game and the last was remarkable. They really learned a lot and more than anything, built their confidence (one part of the program I really appreciated).

Put me in coach!

SNOW Day!!!

On February 11-12 the Dallas area had a record breaking amount of snowfall...12.5 inches in 24 hours. Needless to say, we took full advantage of the snow and the the day off from school! :) Lots of fun playing in the park out front. It was fun to see so many kids (and adults!) out having fun in it...building snow forts, igloos and many, many snowmen. As fun as it was, I was thankful that this is a rare exception for North Texas and not the norm here!

It really was beautiful...you almost needed sunglasses because everything was SO white and bright even though it was overcast.

Collier was not real sure about the snow. He was not a fan of touching it or playing in it.

Carson on the other hand had a blast! Stinker...he was saying "I'm gonna get you Mommy"!

My lil snow bums!

A few of the kids at the park out front. Hard to tell with all the white, but they built two huge snow forts and had a huge snow ball fight. The park had kids in it ALL day long.

Happy Valentine's Day 2010!

Lego Fun with Daddy...

A lil Lego fun before bedtime!

Caron's Snowman Project

Carson's snowman we made for his January Family Project for school...a "Cowboy Snowman"!

Richardson Family Christmas...Christmas Morning

SANTA CAME!!!

The much anticipated, much talked about Agents LEGO set!

Santa brought new boots!
You want some coffee Daddy? Who needs cups? :)

Carson in his new boots and new "Dirty Jobs" t-shirt from Memy and Henry...look how OLD he looks. Makes me a lil sad!

Richardson Family Christmas...Christmas Eve

Christmas 2009 was the best one ever...I think we say that every year! We really missed Em and Henry and John and Cheryl, but did get to Skype with them several times over the holiday. Gotta love modern technology! Lots of presents, shepherding, tamales and fun memories!

Marmee talking with John and Cheryl via Skype on Christmas Eve

My handsome little men ready for Christmas Eve church

A lil Christmas love!

The Guests all cleaned up...and all looking at the camera...and all smiling...it was a Christmas miracle!

Yaya, Grumpy and their fan club

Grumpy and Carson were shepherds in the Christmas Pageant at church. This will go down as one of my most favorite memories of all time! I took Carson to see the "Best Christmas Pageant Ever" at the Dallas Children's Theater shortly before Christmas. So, when Pastor Bill asked Mom if they would be shepherds, he was SO excited!

Aunt Molly and Carson...Collier was unfortunately DONE with picture taking by this point.

Daddy got a new pair of boots!

Collier with the kazoo from Aunt Molly...this little gift has since gotten "lost"!

Carson with "Aunt Sherry's Jelly"...he was SO excited about this gift since it is the ONLY jelly the kid will eat! Look at that face!

Carson and Grumpy opening a gift from Yaya...a remote control helicopter. Look at those matching excited expressions. Funny side story to this gift - after we were done opening gifts Dad was trying to master flying this and having a little trouble. He kept telling Mom, "there is no way Carson is going to be able to do this...I can barely get this thing to fly". So of course, Carson comes in, sees him flying it and wants a turn. Dad was pretty skeptical and was worried that Carson would crash it and break it, etc... Well, whatyaknow, Carson not only go it to fly, but did so after only a few tries! Dad had to eat some words, which for those that know Walt...well, it is pretty funny!!!!

Mommy and Daddy with our gifts from Carson. He picked these out at the Dollar Store and paid for them himself. A cake icing spreader for me and a flashlight for Kenny. He also go Collier a coloring book!

Collier with his name puzzle from Memy and Henry. He loved playing with the one they got for Carson (when Carson was Collier's age), so he has enjoyed having one of his own!

Yaya with her plate from the boys made especially for her. It has their hand print (Carson) and footprint (Collier). Needless to say, she loves it!
