Poor little guy had NO idea what was about to happen. We have been talking about this day for months now but today was FINALLY the day! No cough - no strep! Just a little stuffy nose (so I was still afraid they would send us home).
Cameron insisted on bringing his "purse" (it is a heart pouch I have for each kid with their name on it that we hang on the bar stools for others to put notes in - he has gotten really attached to his).
Here he is playing with the toys in the waiting room at the hospital.
Here he is making his "transform" dance - he thought that was a lot of fun!
I am not sure what we did before we had iPhones and iPads - my iPad kept him entertained until he was taken back to surgery!
Of course, he REFUSED to put the hospital SHIRT (I did NOT call it a gown or a dress this time) on - but I guess he remembers me calling it a dress a month ago. So he sat there with no clothes on.
He did let me put the cool hospital socks on him - he thought they were pretty fun.
He didn't even mind the anesthesiologist listening to his lungs - I was still a little nervous they would send us home - Cameron was sniffling a LOT by this time. But I guess that is ok.
This is Cameron's attempt to show me his tonsils - it didn't work too well!
Me and my buddy!
I hate when they take them away. Ed laughed because I let Cameron take his "purse" back to surgery with him. The nurses wanted him to leave it but he started to climb off the bed to get it. Ed says I gave him but I said I was just picking my battles and that was NOT a battle I needed to fight. He was totally fine once we let him have his "purse" - which made me much happier!
He came back from surgery surprisingly calm. He was ALL WRAPPED up in blankets - just like when I check on him at night, he always has a blanket over his face. No different after surgery.
He was so confused at first - which was good in that it made it so he wasn't screaming.
Once he woke up a little and went back and forth between me holding him, him laying down, him sitting up, me holding him, he realized he had the DRESS on! We had to take that off IMMEDIATELY!
He did insist on having his clothes back on - he looked warmer and more comfy with some clothes on.
He was so frustrated! He wanted to go home and sit up and lay down and be held all at the same time.
He really wanted his IV out. I told him if he drank some the nurse would take it out. So he immediately drank some - not a lot but enough for the nurse to take his IV out.
Taking out his IV did NOT feel good - but he was happy to have it out! But not so happy to still have a "bandage" on.
I left his sippy cup near him and he FINALLY started to drink more on his own.
He didn't want the iPad after surgery but would lay there for a few minutes at a time and watch whatever cartoon was on TV.
Love this picture! Sad but still cute!
The nurse came and took him temperature and he wanted to try it too - and then we got to go home! YEAH! I was just sad that Dr. Heras didn't bring his tonsils in for us to see and take a picture of. But by this point, we were all ready to go home.
All in all, Cameron did GREAT! Hopefully we will go home and he will sleep (ha ha - good luck with that). And Ed was there the WHOLE time - I just didn't get a picture of him, oops!
