Am I REALLY "38" years old?

What a great birthday. It was a perfect relaxing, fun day spent with family and friends. Lots of "Happy Birthday" phone calls, my surprise blog post from my sister Mel that lives in Missouri that I miss very, very much, breakfast with such great friends in my neighborhood, fun "Birthday" surprises that appeared throughout the day on my porch, a 2:10 movie (Bounty Hunter) with Mike on a Tuesday during his work day, lots of "Happy Birthday" wishes on Facebook, yummy "Birthday" dinner at my parents and a quick stop by Judy and Roger's = THE PERFECT DAY.

Breakfast at Millcreek Cafe.
I tell you Spring birthdays are the best. I think we got such a great turnout at my breakfast because people are ready to get out again and quit hibernating.
(We sure missed those that couldn't make it.)
Mike surprised me with this blanket.
What a great surprise. I LOVE IT :)I got my Blog Book....HURRAY
I am so glad to have it done :)Here's to MANY more birthdays...BRING ON the next "38"!!!

Happy Happy Birthday Day Emily Dear...

Emily, this is your birthday and you deserve a birthday brag/post:
My sister, Emily, is Everyone's favorite friend. I will talk to her and she is going to a dinner party, or organizing a game night with friends, or going to a playgroup, or the zoo, or out walking, or exercising, or going to Las Vegas or out to dinner or on some vacation with friends. She doesn't judge anyone and loves everyone. She's the everyone's favorite sister, too. She keeps in touch with us and stays interested and involved in our lives (mine and Amy's) and she is everyone's favorite daughter (at least she thinks so!) and daughter in law.

She is My reality show guru! I can be sure to get the "who's-who" of reality tv from my sister. She's not ashamed to admit that after a long day of errands, cleaning, raising kids and husband, she can settle down for some no-thinking-laughing-at-those-people-showing-their-life-for-all-to-see-reality-tv-show-gems.

Emily Is THE BEST mom. I'm sure everyone out there would agree that Em would do anything and does do everything for her family.

Do you know that Emily Loves to exercise? I loved growing up having two sisters who really like to work out hard and enjoy the health benefits and just plain fun of exercising in all forms. Once Emily decided she wanted to do a marathon and railroaded a bunch of us into doing it together. I think her attitude about a marathon now is, "been there-done that". When I was 16 she took me to the "spa" with her for a visit, and I left a member of that spa. She just loves staying active and fit and that's very cool.

You are so beautiful. It's possible that she is a tad bit vain but you can be when you have those looks to back it up!!! (teasing, Em, really I am) She really is just beautiful inside and out and she is spiritually beautiful, too. How lucky it that?

She is Always up for a game. You can pretty much always count on Em to play whatever game you want. She has already taught her kids to really love games, too. We know that when we visit family in utah there will always be late nights of Mormon Rummy, Yahtzee, Scrabble, Settlers, Scattergories, Hand and Foot, or some new game that was introduced to the family that year.

I have recently been finding out that Emily is a Numbers girl. Really. She says, "it's kind of wierd but I really like balancing my check book and figuring out finances and numbers and stuff."

With Emily, there is Never a dull moment. Swimming, drives up the canyon, skiing, game playing, barbeques, picnics, Wii with her kids, going to see U2, blogging about her life, attending her kids and nieces and nephews activities, visiting family, church callings, temple, having mike do the next project, family dinners, dreaming of the next vacation, brightening someone's day...sheesh, this girl is bizz-ay! and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Emily is so very Down to earth. She doesn't take herself to seriously. She has a really funny sense of humor and she laughs at your jokes, even if they're dumb. She even laughs at herself when she says something pretty dumb (like the time she thought that it was shorter to drive from California to Missouri (if you went through St. George) then from Utah to Missouri. (I couldn't resist adding that Em...I just couldn't)

Emily is Easy going. I know Easy going and Down to earth are pretty much the same, but as I write this I just think that those are such important qualities she has. Nothing ever seems to bother her. We went on a vacation to Chile, once, and while we were navigating the potted streets of a Chilean village and wondering where the next stop was, I'm pretty sure she was just sitting in the back watching something on the ipod. I also remember everytime we'd go on a family trip she'd just fall asleep till we got there. Just easy, easy, fo-sheezy.

If you know Emily, AT ALL, you know that she is Always planning for the next vacation. She's been everywhere and wants to go everywhere else. She loves being with her family, extended family, sisters!, and just her husband. She'd go from vacation to vacation if she could.

and...Emily is Neat, in every sense of the word. She is Neat in that ultimate old-school compliment way you used to catagorize your friends when you were a kid. But she is also Neat and clean and tidy. Her house is perfectly clean and in order almost all the time. Everything matches and there are perfect little accessories all around.

Emily Dean, I hope you have an A+ birthday. We wish we could be there with you on this big day, but it sounds like you may have a hard time fitting us into your busy "birthday week". Love ya. (p.s. will this be too long for your blog book??)

OLYMPUS JUNIOR HIGH PRESENTS:

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAM COAT

Rachel just finished with the production of the Olympus Junior High play. She had a great time learning all the dances and being able to be part of such a fun production. They spent lots of hours practicing and practicing. The show was a hit. It sold out 4 nights in a row so they added a performance on Monday (3/4 of the auditorium was full). Thanks to all our family and friends that came and supported Rachel. It sure was a fun performance. We have a great drama and dance teacher at Olympus this year that made the practices and performances a great time for the kids.

Good job Rachel. We LOVE you.

TAKE OUT THE TRASH

I came across this picture last night and I just had to put it on my blog. Many of you already know that Mike was in a MORMONAD when he was 17, but for those of you that didn't....I thought you might enjoy this AWESOME picture of Mike in his mullet days.
He was quite the celebrity when he was on his mission in Hungary. The people there were quite impressed.

JAKE'S STORY

***So every morning I look through the kids backpacks and sign their planners and look at any things that need to be signed and sent back to school. Well I was looking through Jake's folder the other day and I came across this story he handed in for an assignment. It made me laugh so I wanted to put it on my blog. I thought it was very clever.

THE COOKIE

By Jake Dean

"It sure is a wonderful day today at the zoo." said Fred happily.

"It sure is." agreed Ted.

"You want to know what sounds delicious right now?" said Fred. "Cookies."

"Cookies are my most favorite food on the earth!" exclaimed Ted.

"It is not like we will ever get cookies." cried Fred

"But why?" asked Ted.

"We are only monkeys that people enjoy looking at!" exclaimed Fred.

"Today is the day we eat cookies!" yelled Ted.

"Hey mommy I want a snack." cried Billy.

"Fine I will buy you a cookie and you will be happy." commanded Mom.

" Yea I get a cookie today!" exclaimed Billy.

" Here you go Billy, here is your cookie, happy now?" asked Mom.

" Yes Mom, thank you." said Billy.

"Hey Billy want to go look at the monkeys?" asked Mom.

"Sure Mom." said Billy. At the monkey enclosure Billy dropped his cookie in the cage.

"Hey look cookie!" exclaimed Ted.

"Where?" asked Fred confused.

"Over there." said Fred.

"I call it!" yelled Fred.

"But I found it." Ted argued. Ted darted to get the cookie then Fred grabbed his tail and pulled it. "Ouch!" screamed Ted. "That really hurt."

"I have a great idea." said Ted.

"Lets split it." said Ted.

"OK." said Fred. They both ate the cookie and didn't pull anymore tails.

LOVE, LOVE his picture he chose to go with the story.
Too FUNNY :)
