Seth's Birthday!

Seth went Go-Karting for his 9th birthday.

Here we are having a little lesson on the safety rules before hitting the track.

Seth got a shofar for his birthday.  It is the horn of a ram that they blow into.  Jews use it to usher in the Sabbath.

 His very own icecream!

Neot Kedumin

Neot Kedumin is a Biblical landscape reserve in Israel.  It is a place you can go to see and experience many of the plants from Biblical times.  Spring time means lots of beautiful wild flowers.

Almond trees are the first to blossom.  Jeremiah 1: 11-12 and Numbers 17:6-8 talk about the almond tree.  They are beautiful and remind me of  popcorn popping on the apricot tree!

The mention of sheep is common in the bible.  They even have goats!  The students have an opportunity to learn to be a good Shepard. Our guide gave them several assignments to test them on good Shepard skills.  He said they were one of the best groups he had ever seen.

After a morning of working the land it is time for lunch.  We had the opportunity to build a fire and cook some pita bread over the fire.  We had lunch in a lovely little forest.  It made me want to go camping.

Seth found a Negev Desert Tortoise,  He is becoming an expert on the critters here.

A fun little pond with awsome reeds surrounding it.

A citrus fruit similar to a lemon but more bitter

Yeah! Another tortoise.

Abby, Seth and Thomas standing in a variety of  Sukkots.  They are temporary shelters the Jews build to remember the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.

They even have a 'tree-house' Sukkot.

I think we lost a student in the grasslands!

At the end of the day we were able to watch a Torah Scribe and ask Questions.  They even let us hold and look at some of the Jewish religious artifacts.
