London

Sam was asked a couple of months ago to speak at a Shopzilla award event and in return they would pay for us to stay the whole week. So we made arrangements to make it work. Thank you to Stormi, Jamie, and Monica for taking care of our kids and making this vacation for me possible.

So here are some things I learned and things we got to experience while being there...

The buildings are beautiful with so much detail and I just loved that.

Though the buildings are beautiful, they are very old and some look as though they have been in a fire because of the black coloring that covers them.

The window displays are amazing. I could just window shop all day.

You need to make sure your electrical stuff can handle the output of electricity, even with the converter they provide you. Thank goodness I brought a curling iron I did not care about. It was melted into three separate pieces.

People smoke everywhere, even high class business people. It kinda reminded me of the old black and white movies.

They serve blood pudding and baked beans for breakfast. No hash browns:(

The late movie starts at 8:00. There are no later than that. It seemed that after that hour people just hung out in the streets and in the pubs.

Taxis everywhere and it is expensive. We took a taxi from and to the airport, but while staying in London, we chose the bus and the subway, which they call the subway the tube.

Elevators are called lifts.

English people really don't care about their teeth. I have never seen such horrible teeth in my life. Really crooked and very yellow.

Although they don't care about their teeth, they are very fashionable. I loved it because people looked unique and you could get away with anything you wanted. It taught me that you "really" don't have to look like everyone else and wear what everyone else is.

Smallest bathrooms in the world. I think? Most places that had a bathroom were smaller than a bathroom found in a camp trailer. I could barely fit into one that was at a theatre we went to.

People are either really nice or really rude.

Heathrow airport only employs people who have a cold heart.

Sunday traffic is bad.

Really nice cars everywhere, especially Ferrari's driven by middle eastern people. They also have the economical small cars every where as well.

Indian restaurants everywhere. Not one single Mexican restaurant. I happen to love both Mexican and Indian food.

A great place for the Olympics, it seems as though people from all over the world already live there.

We were able to find a clothing store that had great deals. It was so fun, and jam packed with shoppers.

For the most part London is a very expensive place to be. That would include everything. The hotel we stayed at was nice, but old and in US dollars in was $600 a night and it definitely was not the nicest hotel I have stayed in. I think it may have cost so much because it was in the heart of London? Food everywhere was double what it is here.

The squirrels in the park are extremely friendly to the point of actually crawling on your leg if you let them. I had to much fear to let them do it to me. I kept thinking they would crawl right up to my face and bite me and then I would get some kind of disease.

Over all I really had a great time. We took a tour bus and saw the whole city and we were able to see Wicked and The Woman in Black, aand the changing of the guards at Buckingham palace. We were going to watch a movie, and when we realized how much money it cost in us dollars ($50.00) Sam asked for our money back. Why pay $50 when you can watch it for $14 in the US. The park by Buckingham palace was beautiful. A huge plus is that we had great weather everyday! We did miss our flight on the way home and I would rather not leave this blog with a negative feeling so I will leave that story as just that. I loved every minute of our stay there and yet I am so grateful to be a US citizen!

Guarin's 1st Birthday

Guarin's birthday was July 27th which we were in Florida at the time so we waited to celebrate with all of the kids.

He just loved his cake and I think I took about 140 pictures. Seriously I was picture happy. He just wouldn't stop being cute. HaHa!!

We are so glad to have this little surprise and can not believe the year went by so fast. He is not walking yet but has stood up a couple of times. He is mostly interested in taking everything out of every drawer he can pull open and smashing his fingers in them. It's a great combination.

I sure hope he stays cute, personality and looks!!!

We all love you Guarin!

This Summer went by so fast I can hardly believe it. It is sad to see it come to an end with the start of school. I guess I am one of those that get all teared up to send my kids away and I wish I could just freeze time because life just could not be more perfect. Anyway....here are some of the things we did during our summer that I did not get time to write about. We shared some great times and I am so grateful for all the friends and family who make our life so full of joy including many who may not be in the photos.

In loving Memory of our Grandpa Sanderson

These are pictures of us visiting my Grandpa on Memorial Day. I am so glad we made it a priority to go and visit him. He passed away on July 27th and he will be so greatly missed. He was the kind of grandpa that always loved kids on his lap as you can see from the pictures. When I was a kid he loved to make us laugh and would tickle us for hours. My sisters and I would pretend that we owned a salon and he would let us do crazy things to what little hair he had. He was such a great sport.

One thing, among many, is that He had a way of making everyone feel like they were the favorite. I will forever be grateful for his example and great love he shown toward me and my family.

A New Dress

Siena had asked me if I had any material that she could have so I gave her some. A little while later I checked on her and she was cutting a shape of a dress. I asked her what she was doing, and she said she was making a dress for herself. I said, "really? Well that is going to take a long time to sew." Anyway she proved me wrong. I think she had it done in less than two hours all hand sewn. She even did the buttons and the scarf all on her own. So we decided to take some "run way model shots" of her new and upcoming line. I know she is my own , but I just have to say, she was absolutley adorable, and I was so pround of her that she did it all on her own!

Anthony's 6th B-day

DissapointedHappy
All of us Together
Game Time Anthony was all about Kung Fu Panda for his birthday this year. All he wanted for a gift was the Kung Fu Panda game and he had no doubts that was what he would be getting. So.. when we were eating at the Mayan Sam decided to play a trick on him and only give him clothes to see what his reaction was. Well of course he was very dissapointed but he tried to act like it was ok. I felt really bad for him and had kinda wished Sam would not have done that. So Sam asked for the bag back and quickly stuck the game in it and asked Anthony to look again to see if there was anything else. Anthony was much happier and thought, somehow, Dad had just performed a magic trick. So after eating we went and watched Kung Fu Panda on the IMAX, and it was a way cute movie. Afterwards we got icecream and them came home and played the game with him.

He says his birthday was so fun and he loved it!

May 9th Anniversary #11

For our anniversary we thought it would be fun to hike the mountain right behind our house. We have been hiking for about a third of the way for a couple of months now and so we just thought it would be fun to go all the way. We left at 2:30 p.m. and arrived right at 6:00p.m. ascending exactly 4k vertical feet. We stared at the amazing view for awhile and then walked to some trees and had a dinner picnic. It was actually very cold with a temperature at 37 degrees. So, we ate and shivered and laughed about trying to have this nice picnic in the almost freezing cold weather. We made our way back down and were able to watch the sunset on the way. An anniversary never to forget!

A big thanks to Monica for watching our kids and making it all possible!!!

I Alessia went to a milatary school called Camp Floyd! It was so much fun!Their school is so awesome!Their desks are hooked together and you only have to read a page of a book then you recite the alphabet and then you have to write them and the teacher can excuse you whenever she wants and when you come in the door you have to say good morning Miss or Mrs whatever their last name is and courtsy..They also have a hospital and the hospital has only a boys bathroom,to bad for girls. We also made our own candlesticks. Then we went back to school;I had to sit by a teacher Mrs.Morgan;she actually was really nice she even let me play on her phone!and she even told me what she was text messaging to her daughter and told me what her daughter text to her, which thought was kind of wierd and personal.then we got to school.

Kayak for a Day

Sam and Jen
Monica
Sam and Loredan
Alessia
and Alessia again
Saturday, Sam had a kayak clinic that his work was putting on, so we all went as a family to support him. We invited Ray, Monica, and Braxton to come with us. It was kind of cold and pretty windy, but everyone except Anthony decided to give it a try and take the daring step into the kayak and paddle off. It actually was a lot of fun and everyone had a great time.

Alessia and Braxton even went by their selves. Alessia got into some trouble, due to the wind. She could not quite get the kayak headed in the right direction so Sam had to go rescue her. Braxton and Alessia both were brave and did a great job.

Afterwards we headed to Red Iguana to eat. It was Ray and Monica's first time to eat there . I hoped they liked it. Sam and I always love eating their moles. Luckily at the very end of the meal, Loredan fell and hit his head on the chair. He got quite the goose egg, but nothing serious. I was so grateful he did not split the skin open.

Then to to top the night off we went to Ray's and Monica's to play games. We played the Wii and it was great fun. Sam beat all of us followed by Ray, then Monica, and lastly me. I was not so good. Oh well. I have to say that all the kids were really good today. Lucky us!

Hoorah for a great Day!!!!

Natalie's New Baby

Last week I took the girls to Natalie's so we could visit with her and see her new baby. Brinlie is very cute and it is always neat to be around a newborn. Bittersweet for me, since I will be having no more babies myself. We had a good time and the kids loved playing with Pyper and Kazdan. The weather was not so great, but the kids still had a great time playing in the water at this park not so far away from Natalie's house.

The biggest event was when Pyper fell five feet from the swinging bridge to the ground at a different park. Apparently Kazdan scared her so badly that she took a dive off. To my great relief she was ok.

Sorry no pics, I was too forgetful to charge the batteries in my camera.

Doggie World

Ummm, the dog is now named ciela. Sounds like Chayla. This means "heaven" in italian. We are all hoping that she will one day be that. HaHaHa. The name change came about because half the kids could not quite say Scianse and so we decided to make it easier.

It's a Doggie World

Last Sunday, after the girls had been begging for months, we went and got a dog. She is a Coton de Tulear. She was the runt so she is supposed to stay really small. We just finally came up with a name for her after several hours of collaborating. Of course it had to be Italian, which made it very difficult. And the name is...Sciansi, sounds like shawnsey.

The girls both promised that they would take care of it, and they have been for the most part very helpful lately, which is the reason we decided to go forward with it. Well it is now day 6 and lets just say things are not going as well as I had hoped for. Actually, Alessia is doing pretty well, it is Siena that is already bored and just not keeping up to her end of the bargain.

I should have known when I recongnized the pit in my stomach after we paid for her and were on our way home. HaHaHa!!!

I am trying to stay positive and be patient. I mean really it has only been less than a week. So let's just hope the girls will do their part. The dog is actually pretty good and she is very cute.
