• He  inherited Caesars money, power, military, and popular support
•  Defeated mark Antony in Civil War for control of Rome
• Rome’s first emperor

ACHIEVEMENTS

• He brought peace to Rome after 100 years of fighting
• He was the first emperor
• He ended the civil war
• Rebuilt the forum and temples 
• He conquered Spain, Germany, and Jerusalem

CAUSE OF DEATH

• Augustus got very sick in 23 BC he died visiting his fathers grave on August 19 14 AD

WHY WAS AUGUSTUS IMPORTANT?

• Augustus won the civil war and he rebuilt Rome to be a better and more peaceful place
