Katie got accepted to BYU!!! She is SO excited and we are too! Nelson and I both graduated from BYU and Michael was there last year so Katie wanted in on a good thing. She has been so worried about whether she would get in or not. BYU is hard to get in to and we know people with really good grades and test scores who have not been accepted so it wasn't something you could just count on. She applied to a couple of other schools as a back up just in case she didn't get her first choice....but she DID!! Can you tell how excited we are around here? It's nice sometimes to get what you want.
I started getting texts and calls from my friends late Friday afternoon asking if she got in or not. We had both checked her application status already that day (and every other day for the past 3 weeks) and it hadn't changed. She logged in and there it was...that little word...accepted. She started screaming and lots of running around, yelling, and victory dancing happened. Nelson wasn't home so she called him to tell him the news. I had to catch this on camera...she couldn't hold in the happiness!
...more victory dancing...
...big smiles...
...more dancing...
Congratulations Katie! We are so proud of the hard work you have done to become a BYU student! Woo-hoo!
Today was piano festival. Katie played really well and is on her way to her final gold cup. I will sure miss her piano playing when she goes off to college.
David played well also and will earn his next gold cup this year also. Keep up the good work!!
David went on a campout last night with the scouts, came straight home to play in the piano festival, changed clothes in the car, went straight to the church BBall game, came home for a 20 minute lunch and off to his next Orem Rec BBall game. After 3 hours of sleep last night at the campout he is one tired boy. We showed up at the church ball game and Nelson got recruited to be the coach since they didn't have one today I guess. It was a good game even though they lost. David won his other game, though.
The church ball team, minus camera shy Weston.
Katie has inherited my love of...well...food. She has been browsing food blogs and baking up a storm. I am really hoping she gets into vegetables soon or I may have to apply to be a contestant on "The Biggest Loser". Above are homemade reeses. We weren't having success dipping the peanut butter part in chocolate so we got impatient and just piped the chocolate onto the tops. That is my all time favorite flavor combo.
Today she made apple fritters...all by herself...I wasn't even home. Walking in the door I had to stuff 3 (plus 6) into my mouth. The smell was too delicious, and they were too. Thanks Katie!
