The past 4 years...

I have wanted to start this blog as a sort of real time scrapbook of our lives.  So much has happened since we were married almost 4 years ago so I wanted to play catch up and take a look at all the major events.  There is so much more to come and we are so excited about the many memories we will make in the future!

*11/11/06 - OUR WEDDING DAY*

After 5 years of dating, Tyler and I became husband and wife. After many days of planning, our wedding day was perfect and we could not have imagined a better day. We were married at University Park United Methodist Church by Tyler's Uncle Burt and Grandpa Palmer. We were surrounded by all our family and friends and had the time of our lives! The reception at Arlington Hall at Lee Park was the perfect venue for our party afterwards.

*HONEYMOON*

We had a blast on our honeymoon at the Four Seasons Great Exuma, Bahamas. We were able to relax in the sun, read a book, play some golf, snorkel & Tyler even got to go bonefishing. It was just the two of us and we had fun date nights with great food and drinks (the mojitos & bahama mamas were delicious).

*LIVING IN FORT WORTH*
After we got married, we lived in a perfect 2 bedroom, 1 bath house in Fort Worth literally a street away from the TCU campus. Tyler was attending graduate school at UNT Health Science Center and I made the long commute to Las Colinas each day for my job at Caremark. We fell in love with Fort Worth during the time we spent there. It is definitely a city we love to spend time in and hope to make our way back to one of these days. From the Stockyards, to Sundance Square, to Billy Bob's and TCU, Fort Worth is the big city with a small town feel.

*November 2007*
A few days after our anniversary, Tyler got some very, very exciting news. He got into his medical school of choice, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio!!!! All of his hard work and dedication had finally paid off and we were so extremely happy. I will never forget that morning. I talked to Tyler on the way into work and he was asking if he should call the school and ask (he knew they were telling people) or wait and find out. I told him it was his decision and only he could make it. I got into the office, sat down at my desk for about 5 minutes, and my work phone rang. I answered and he just said "I got in." I was sooo excited that I couldn't contain it but had to since I was in my cube and didn't want to disrupt others. We were very, very excited.

*THE MOVE FROM FORT WORTH TO DALLAS*
After we found out that we were heading to San Antonio, we had to figure out what we were going to do until then. Tyler graduated from graduate school in December of 2007 and was offered a job in clinical research at UT Southwestern in the cancer center. With my job in Las Colinas and Tyler's now in Dallas it was sadly time to leave Fort Worth. The only problem was we had about 4 months before we moved to San Antonio. Luckily, my awesome brother, Layne, bought a new house in Dallas and graciously offered for us to stay with him (the picture above is one of the days we spent fixing up the house). It was great to spend some time in Dallas close to all our friends and family before we moved south. We were also able to spend lots of time with Layne and his cat, Rocky, who we grew to love.

*LINDSAY'S NEW JOB*

I started job searching around March and it was not a fun thing to do! I brought out all the resumes and cover letters in search of a new job in San Antonio. I interviewed for one pharma sales job with a small company and made a few trips to Houston and San Antonio for interviews. I ended up not getting the job, but we had some doubts about the pay, products, etc and it definitely ended up working out for the best. One morning I got a call from Tyler's aunt Peggy saying that her favorite drug rep had just been in the office and that her company was hiring for a position in San Antonio. She eventually put me in touch with the contact (Christine) and I was off to my first interview in San Antonio. It was a hard interview process and knew that it was a very competitve industry, but I kept getting ask back for more interviews. Finally, literally two weeks before we were planning on making the actual move to San Antonio, I found that I got the job! We could not have been more excited! It was with a great Japanese pharma company called Astellas, and the products and pay were much better than my other opportunity. I never realized how lucky I was until today when I see all the negative changes going on with pharma companies and Astellas is doing great! I now have my dream job and though it is hard work, it is definitely worth it. I am currently selling products to primary care doctors and urologists. I will share much more about my job in the future....

*THE MOVE TO SAN ANTONIO*

Well, we pretty much moved ourselves all the way to San Antonio with the great help of our parents. I had a schedule written out on what was going on each day. The day after I found out I got the job with Astellas, I went in the next day to give my two week notice and that put me working until literally the day before we moved. The tricky part was that our stuff was in four places. We had sent all valuables and important things to my parents, a lot was in our storage unit, we had furniture and clothes at layne's house, and then we bought a refrigerator and couch from Brandon. So we rented the Penske and went from place to place loading up the truck, trying to fit everything, but trying not damage anything. It took a LONG time (and an extra Uhaul trailer hitched to tyler's truck) but we eventually were able to get it all to fit. We headed off to San Antonio (Tyler driving the Penske, Mike driving Tyler's truck, Janie driving their tahoe and Jake, and me in the Envoy). We had hired movers to move us in but they were 3 hours late so by the time they arrived tyler and I had already unloaded SO much stuff! We pretty much unloaded everything ourselves (included the fridge and washer and dryer...WOW). We were ablet to get pretty much everything unpacked and put in its place, again with the help of our great parents. The house started to feel like home pretty quickly!

*TYLER'S WHITE COAT*

After we moved into the house, I immediately started homestudy for work for 4 weeks. This sounds nice since, but it was sooo busy! Lots of studying to do and tests to take. This all before I headed off to Chicago for 2 weeks of training at headquarters.

But in the midst of the new job, Tyler started school and had his white coat ceremony! The white coat ceremony is where all the new medical school students recieve their white coats. We had a crowd here with Tyler's whole family, my parents, and tyler's grandmother. Tyler's aunt and uncle live in San Antonio so they were nice enough to have everyone over for lunch on Saturday and we had a very fun weekend! We even got the whole family to go to Pat O's for a hurricane after dinner at County Line on Friday night!

*Family Ski Trip to Breckenridge*

Christmas 2008, the Bloomer, Marshall, and Walker families took a group trip to Breckenridge, Colorado!  It was so much fun and my first ski trip.  Tyler is an experienced skier and snowboarder (not to mention fearless), but Taylor & I started out in ski school and eventually hit the blues.  It was so great to spend time on the slopes with our dads and siblings.  The house we stayed in was perfect and it is a trip I will never forget (including dad's kidney stone)!

*Weddings, Weddings, Weddings*
We have had so many friends and families get married and it is always so much fun being a part of their big day and celebrate these fabulous couples.

*Ranch Trips*
Tyler and I joked when we got married that I married him for his family's lakehouse and he married me for my families ranch.  We love spending time at both and Tyler has taken the ranch and built, with his own two hands, multiple blinds, set up many feeders, and loves to camp out there.  He's even gotten me and Jake to camp with him a couple of times.  We have also started the annual dove hunt in the fall and we've been up the last 3 years.  It has been so much fun and it's always great to visit Wichita Falls & Nina while we're there.

*Half Marathon*
I ran my first half marathon in November, 2009.  The Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon & Marathon is held in San Antonio and thanks to Kathleen's encouragement I trained and finished!  It was a great feeling and I hope to do more in the future.  Thank you Kathleen & Taylor for encouraging me to train & run it!

*Holidays*
We've celebrated so many great holidays including birthdays in New Orleans, the first ever Cowboy game Thanksgiving, New Year's at the lakehouse, and anniversaries at Gruene Hall.  I love the life we have together and our friends and family make everything that much better.  Here's the many more!

There's so much more to cover, but those are just a few of the major events and catches you up to how we got where we are now.  What's missing is a lot of library & hospital time for Tyler.  He has been so dedicated thus far in medical school and he only has a little over a year left!  Majority of his time in life is consumed with school, but we are lucky to have each other and get to relax whenever possible and we know it will all be worth it in the end.  Luckily, I have a job that I love to keep me busy, too!
