After much convincing (me convincing Tyler), we decided to find out if Baby Bloomer is a boy or girl at our 20 week ultrasound. The only hitch was that Tyler was going to be on his surgery rotation in Harlingen, Texas during our appointment. I was so excited to see Baby Bloomer for the first time (i mean....we saw it at the 6 week appointment, but it was just a little nugget on the screen)! I wish Tyler was able to be there with me, but we made a pact that we'd have the sonogram tech write in a card if it was a boy or a girl and we'd open it together.
My appointment was on Friday, January 22. I LOVED getting to see the baby move all around and see all his fingers & toes. The sonogram tech even asked who had long toes in the family because Baby B does and I laughed because Tyler is always making fun of my long toes. Like mommy, like baby. Anyways....she printed off tons of pictures for me and printed off pictures of proof that Baby Bloomer was a boy or girl and put them in the card. She then sealed the envelope, stamped it, and taped it to ensure that there was no way I could peek at it before I opened it with Tyler. It was very hard the entire ride to Harlingen to know it was right next to me, but I wanted it to be something special that Tyler and I shared.
I got to Harlingen on Friday night and we decided to wait until Saturday to open. Saturday night as we were getting ready to head to dinner at our favorite Harlingen hotspot (Longhorn Cattle Company), we decided to open it. IT'S A BOY! There were 3 pictures included to ensure that we knew he was a BOY! We were so excited and of course I cried. Our prayers are always for a healthy baby and we would have been so excited either way.
We immediately called our parents & siblings to share the news and started brainstorming names. Thoughts of sports & super heroes started to fill my head and I am so excited! His name is to be determined, but no matter what his name, he is already one very loved little boy. We can't wait to meet him!
