7 months
Jack’s 7 month birthday was on the day that we were heading to Plano for the Christmas break. Dad had already headed to the ranch to deer hunt and took the camera so this month’s photos are courtesy of the Iphone. Tyler got a deer so he put the good camera to good use. Man the last month has been crazy with all the holidays and work. But our little man is doing better than ever and developing so much each week. He's not my tiny little baby, anymore!
Size: We haven’t weighed you since your 6 months appointment, but you are growing. You are still in 6 month clothes & wearing size 2 diapers. You will be moving onto 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers very soon.
Sleep: You are still waking up about once a night (sometimes twice). We are working on giving you your pacifier and patting you back to sleep. Sometimes this works and other times I end up feeding you. We are trying to break any early morning habits you have (normally you wake around 4 and 5). You go to bed between 7 and 8pm and wake up about 7:15am.
You have started rolling to your side and sleeping on your side. You still will not roll to your stomach, however, we have tried having you nap on your stomach every once in a while. You are quite the mover in your crib at night and move all around.
Activities: Currently you LOVE your jumparoo and will jump and play for very long periods of time in it. Before, your feet did not touch the ground very much so you would just play, but now you jump up and down so much. You are very entertaining to watch.
You love sitting up and playing with toys. You are particularly interested in remote controls, computer pads, & iphones when not playing with your toys.
Food: You are still eating 7-8oz of milk about 4-5 times a day. You have tried many new solids in the last month and tend to like fruits much more than vegetables. You have eaten bananas, mangos, peaches, pears, apples, peas, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, and carrots. You gag when we try to feed you peas…not a fan.
New things: You celebrated your first Thanksgiving and made your first overnight trip to Wichita Falls. You did great during the Thanksgiving meals and just sat with us at lunch and played in your jumper at dinner.
You are so alert & curious. Your hand eye coordination is improving and you grab and pick up everything. You pass things from hand to hand and have learned how to maneuver your pacifier. You turn it around chew on it and then can put it back in your mouth when you want to suck. You tend to pull everything towards your mouth.
When we are holding you while sitting at a table you want to grab EVERYTHING. We have to keep all glasses and plates away from you or you will get them. I try to bring as many toys as possible to prevent this.
You went on your first nursing strike this month & refused to nurse for about 3 days. You would just cry and cry when I tried to nurse you, but you took a bottle fine. It didn’t help that mom’s pump broke during these 3 days (thank goodness for hospital pump rentals). Now you are back to normal.
I have decided you are a blankie baby. We pretty much only use the Aden & Anais blankets with you and we rotate them all, but in order for you to fall asleep or feel comfortable in your carseat you need a blanket to hold on to. When you’re falling asleep in your carseat or if the blanket is not swaddled around you tightly you pull the blanket to your face and fall asleep. This is a bit scary for me so I am often moving it after you fall asleep.
You are not quite crawling but you are getting close. You have mastered sitting up and will often see something far away that you want to grab (a phone or remote normally). When you see the object you will lean over and fall onto your stomach in the ready to crawl position, but pretty much get stuck there. On the hard floor you push yourself backwards when you are trying to get to something.

My 'lil Angel
I love Jack's school art projects. Add Christmas to the mix and it is even more awesome.
I have gotten a few great surprises when I picked Jack up from school the last few days!
Feliz Navidad from my angel...
I absolutely love this picture. I'm also glad that they did this at daycare, because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten away with it at home.
Jack's teachers commented on how easy it was to take pictures of him and how great he did....I told them he has had LOTS of practice. This blog is a result of the massive amount of pictures I take of him.
The ornament has his picture on one side and "Mi Primera Navidad" on the other.
This will be hanging on our tree for so many years to come!
They gave us copies of a couple of the angel pictures (scanned in).

Santa...I know him, I know him!
Wow...things have been busy around here. Tyler has been in and out of town for interviews and hunting and we've been doing lots of running around to get ready for the holidays.
I look at Christmas this year from a new perspective now that we have Jack. Of course he's too young to know what's going on this year but I think about future years and teaching him what the real meaning of Christmas is and celebrating Jesus' birthday.
I was also real excited this year for him to meet Santa. I love looking at all the pictures of toddlers that are crying. I know our years will come, but since he doesn't know what's going on he loved meeting him. He just looked straight ahead and gave him a weird "who are you" look every once in a while.
One of the local baby boutiques had Santa come in one weekend and we took Jack to get his picture taken. They were great!
Last Friday afternoon Tyler was in town and we took Jack to Bass Pro to meet Santa, again. This is much more Tyler's style with the deer in the background and what not.
Can't wait to put a new pic in this frame each year Jack meets Santa, again!

He's a Jumper
We've been putting Jack in the jumper for a couple of months & he has fun with all the activities but he has just discovered how to jump and he loves it!
Loves it like he will do it for 30 minutes straight without getting bored
(which doesn't happen much these days).
It helps that he's gotten taller and his feet can now touch.

Sleep Twistin'
Tyler is currently on the interview trail for residency and has been out of town alot lately. Last night I was hanging by myself after Jack went to bed at 7:30 and I decided to document how much the boy moves around when he sleeps now.
These pics were taken between 7:30pm and midnight. He did a full 360.

Back to where we started...
and it starts all over again...
Yes, I use a bumper. Don't judge. At this time with the rate he moves, I feel more comfortable with it in the crib. He would rub his head along the hard bars when he turns sideways without it and would somehow get his feet through the slats (he has done it before). With the video monitor I check on him pretty much every hour. I don't sleep nearly as well as I used to!

The Pineapple School
Jack started daycare on Monday, August 22. It took a while to figure out how to get us both ready in the morning and out the door. Not to mention, I literally have to get together 5 bags between my work stuff, jack's daycare stuff, and my pumping supplies for the day. I'm learning how to balance work and being a mom and wife and it feels like it's getting easier each week. What takes up half my night is all the washing, soaking, sterilizing, and filling of bottles and pumping supplies each night and getting it ready for the next day.
I cried when I dropped him off and pretty much that whole day (and some that week), but I know he is in a great place and being taken care of. He seems very happy and is pretty much exhausted by the end of the day, although he seems to be getting better about napping while he is there.
The Pineapple School is a Spanish immersion preschool and nursery. Jack is in the Los Mangos classroom with infants up to around 6 months old. They communicate in Spanish and do lesson plans in Spanish, as well. I know this is great for Jack's development and that he will also be able to obtain socialization skills at an early age. The teachers and directors are all great and I feel so confident with him there each day.
I love getting his daily report cards. It gives all the specifics on diaper changes, naps, bottles, mood, & activities enjoyed for the day. The activities part is the most entertaining. I've seen everything from playing with toys, tummy time, reading books, and spa days to playing the mariachis, smelling different smells and taking buggy rides.
When I went into my first meeting with the director she asked what I wanted Jack to learn while he was there. At the time he was 2 months and pretty much just eating, crying, sleeping, and pooping. My response was "uh...change his diapers, feed him, play with him." It was hard for me to imagine he could learn much at the time because he still hadn't realized his surroundings. Now I realize how great it has been and how important it is for him to learn from an early age different things like textures, socialization, temperatures, languages, and physical development.
Being away from him all day is hard. Some days harder than others and on certain days I freak out because I feel like I need to be taking control of his development and that I'm a step behind because I don't always have time to read the books and feel exactly up to date on what I should be working on with him, what level nipple should be in his bottle, or what solid food schedule he should be on. I'm trying my hardest to be great at this being a mom thing, but I can reassure myself that he is in a good environment each day when I am away from him where they care about him.
Jack has had some art projects to bring home that have made me VERY excited. I have my child's artwork on the fridge and that feeling is priceless!
We don't know where we'll be living in a year which is a weird feeling. Makes me sad to think if we aren't in San Antonio then he won't be at the Pineapple school for pre school when the time comes. I love seeing the older kids in their uniforms each day when I'm dropping off and picking him up.

Gobble Gobble
We had a great trip back to the big D. Tyler was able to get a bit of hunting in at the ranch in Vernon before Thanksgiving. My dad joined him and they met us in Wichita Falls Wednesday where we spent the night and Thanksgiving lunch with my grandmother, Nina. Jack did great at the hotel and is such a flexible baby.
The night before Thanksgiving we dressed Jack up in his turkey pj's and turkey hat Aunt Taylor got him and had a great photo shoot. Such a good sport when I put him these silly things on him and take lots of pics.

Jack did great during Thanksgiving lunch and sat in his bumbo on a chair at the table. As long as he's got something in his hands to play with he's happy!

After lunch, we loaded up the car just in time for Jack's nap and headed to Plano for dinner with the Bloomers.

The days after Thanksgiving were full of shopping, Top Golf, and relaxing. Tyler and I were able to finally go to dinner for our anniversary while my parents babysat Jack. We went out afterwards and loved seeing and catching up with friends we hadn't seen in WAY too long!

We had so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We have truly been blessed in the last year and the holidays have a whole new meaning now that we have Jack in our lives.
