We are Nashvillians

We are home!  The last few weeks of craziness have paid off and we are busy unpacking and getting settled into our new home.

The move was insane.  I worked as long as I possibly could so my last day with Astellas was Friday, June 15.  We were packing late into the night for the few weeks prior and with lots of help from Tyler and my parents we pretty much got all the furniture moved downstairs and ready to load onto the truck about a week prior.

We loaded the truck on my last day of work (we hired movers for 2 hours...thank goodness because thanks to their deluxe packing we actually fit everything onto the truck).  We finished loading, cleaned the house, and had the walk through with our landlord's agent Saturday morning and then headed to Dallas.

The garage before loading...the chairs found a new Craigslist home
Tyler and his parents were the drivers (thank you Bloomer's!) and they left Sunday afternoon and made it to Memphis for the night.  Tyler drove the 26 foot Penske truck, Mike drove Tyler's truck, and Janie drove the Tahoe with Jake.

Meanwhile, Jack had his first plane ride on a non-stop, one way flight to Nashville.  The flight went ok...Jack has turned into a serious toddler in the last couple of months and just wanted to move around the entire time.  He never got really fussy but would get vocal every once in a while and I was pulling out toy after toy, book after book, and LOTS and LOTS of puffs.  Luckily, we had an empty seat next to us and father of a 18 months old on our row.

Tyler and the Bloomer's headed to Nashville Monday morning and Janie & Jake picked Jack and I up at the airport around 1.  After a quick lunch, we had our walk through at 2, closing at 3, and movers at the house at 4 to help unload the truck.  We were are unloaded by dark on Monday night.
Now that is fast!

So it's official (& scary)...Tyler and I are homeowners.  The last week we have spent in our new home has been chaotic and exciting.  We are truly blessed and we are loving our yard and everything around us.  We've met neighbors & Jack's made some new friends.

Since we moved in about an hour after closing, we obviously didn't have time to paint, clean, etc so our unpacking is taking some time while we figure it all out and decorating has been put on hold until the walls are painted...colors which we haven't really picked out yet.

Tyler is in orientation this week and his intern year officially starts Sunday, July 1st.
Still can't believe he is Dr. Bloomer.

Many posts to come on the house, Jack's last day at daycare, and my new life as an unemployed stay at home mom.

Packing, Packing, and more Packing

I might be quiet on the blogging front but chaos is ensuing at the Bloomer household.  We are packing, packing, packing (not quite sure how we are going to fit it all on the truck) and are Nashville bound this weekend (Tyler's driving...Jack & I are flying).  This time next week we should be spending our first night in our new house :)

The past few weeks have been full of working, packing, offering, accepting, inspecting, financing, lots of paperwork, and a very clingy little boy.  I wouldn't have it any other way, but it is CRAZY! Moving a 3 bedroom house you have lived in for four years 17 hours away is a bit overwhelming.  Jack's sleeping in a pack 'n play in his room and we're on a mattress on the floor.

We made an offer on a house the day of Jack's 1st birthday party.  We had loved it when we saw it in Nashville, but it is a bit further away than we had originally wanted.  We sat on it for a couple of weeks to see if anything else came on the market closer to Vanderbilt and after nothing did, we made an offer.  It's the type of house Tyler and I love...an older home with hardwood floors, some character, and big yard for Jack and Jake to play in.

Please pray everything goes smoothly and as planned the next week.  We're going to miss Texas and our family and friends so much but we are ready and excited for this next chapter of our lives.  I'm excited to share the journey with everyone here on the blog, too.

It's official...

It is official.  Tyler had graduated from medical school.  Can I get an hallelujah?!

These four years have flown by and I could not be prouder.

Medical school is some serious work.  Serious work with no pay.

The first two years consist of constant studying and living at the library and the third year is full of long work shifts.  The fourth year is a little easier with lots of travelling, interviewing, and different rotations.

From the very beginning of Tyler and I's relationship, I knew that he wanted to be a doctor.  He has been determined through it all...and the long road continues, but he is officially a medical doctor.

We had quite the celebration last weekend to celebrate Tyler with family & friends.

We started off the weekend with dinner Saturday night at one of our San Antonio favorites, Paesano's, followed by a baby free stop at some of our fave downtown bars.

The graduation ceremony was Sunday at 2 o'clock at St. Mary's University.

I have to take a second to brag on Tyler
(although he'll probably get mad at me when he reads this).
He has studied and worked so incredibly hard during medical school.
He received membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) and won the Paul Cutler Award for Clinical Excellence among his peers.

Watching Tyler be hooded  and and receive his diploma was a bit surreal...

Jack had a great nap beforehand and we were a bit worried about the ceremony being right in the middle of afternoon nap but he did great. We had lots of people around to entertain him.
It also helps that dad graduated at the beginning of the group (13 of 206)...one of the perks of a "B" last name.

We headed to Aunt Peggy's afterwards for a celebratory and relaxing night of mexican food, swimming, & gifts.

We love you Dr. B!
