Sounds Game - II

We were lucky enough to head back to a Nashville Sounds game this past Saturday night, but this time we were watching in luxury.  We had a rock star real estate agent that we loved (Jonathan Harris if anyone's in the Nashville area) and he invited us to watch the game in an box...with AC!

Bummer was that Tyler was on nights and had to be at the hospital by 8:45 that night so he had to wake up early from his "night" sleep during the day.  We weren't able to stay the whole game, but that worked out since we had little man with us.

He loved being able to people watch through the glass and climb around a bit.

Ozzie, the Sounds mascot, stopped by the box & everyone immediately wanted Jack to take a picture with him. He started out a bit confused and just looked at him.

Then Jack's eyes became the biggest I've ever seen them and a look of terror came over his face.

No tears were shed and he was fine right after he went away, but man he did not like being close to him.  I think this is probably a sign of things to come with Santa...

He was still keeping an eye on him even though he was far away

Flashback - Lake time before TN

Before the move, we had a weekend when we were able to head to Cedar Creek for some much needed relaxation.  We knew we were going to miss jumping in the car and heading to the lakehouse for a retreat whenever we wanted and we were excited to take Jack since he's more active now.

Enjoying breakfast in dad's lap.
We're always working on walking!
Jake's favorite place on all of earth.
Someone got curious about dad's fishing bait.
Look at that concentration!

He loved playing in the boat & I loved it because I could easily watch him and keep him contained.
Already curious....
Love these two!
My boys!
Dad gets kisses just like Jack.
We all go a little crazy at the lake.
Letting it all hang out...
Our water baby
Heading down the slide for the first time.
About to go on the boat...he has such a nervous look on his face.
Not so bad at the beginning...
"Ok...I'm not enjoying this anymore mom."
Jack didn't have the best first boat ride, but I'm sure he will in the future.  The kid hates wearing hats, bibs, glasses, etc so I'm pretty sure he didn't love all the stuff we loaded on him & the heat.  We only took a quick trip but it was good cuddle time!

Jake & Jack

Jack is so active now-a-days that he likes to bug Jake alot.   Most of the time he'll just crawl over to him and pat him or pull on his ears or poke his nose.  He has also started trying to use him as a step stool to get to the couch or anything that he needs a boost for.

Jake normally ignores him and will  just sit there or get up and move across the room.
Of course he gives him kisses sometimes.

I got this video the other day on my phone and it is too cute.  This is the first time Jack tried to give Jake kisses.

14 months

Today Jack is 14 months.  Things have been so incredibly wild since his one year birthday but through it all he has been so sweet, funny, & happy.  I love spending everyday with him and he constantly entertains me.  Sure, he loves to throw fits and act like it’s the end of the world when I shut a door so he can’t enter a room or take something away from him, but shortly after he’s back to playing.

Jack has 6 teeth and is eating pretty much all table foods that we give him (that doesn’t mean he likes them all though).

He isn’t walking (sigh) which stresses dad and me out but I know he will soon.  He has no problem getting around and loves to run down the hallways with anything he can find.  He stands on his own, but just hasn’t taken the first step.  Tyler walked at 9 months and I walked at 14…I keep telling Tyler he wants to be like me.  He bear crawls when he doesn’t want to put his knees on the ground and has mastered going up and down stairs now (just the 3 stairs to the tv room & laundry room…don’t worry).
He talks constantly but doesn’t say many specific words.  He says “mama”, “d”a when Tyler walks in a room, “bubba”, and makes the ”j” sound for jake & jack.  We are working on sign language because he wants everything but I don’t know what he wants!  He is constantly pointing & reaching & wanting.

His nap schedule has changed to once a day.  While my parents were in town we had a really hard time getting him down for each nap and if he went down for his morning nap then he didn’t want his afternoon nap & vice versa.  When Tyler was on nights he would get home around 11am so I started putting Jack down about the same time as Tyler (noon) and this week it has moved to around 1 or 1:30.  He has been perfectly happy with this and naps for about 2-3 hours.  The first few weeks in the house were rough with night sleeping and he would wake up at least once a night crying & screaming but recently he has been sleeping  from about 8pm to 7:30-7:45am.

We have started Gymboree and I am looking forward to doing many more activities with him as we figure out our routine.  He goes running with me each morning and is always so happy to see me when he wakes up.  I love running errands with him & he is my partner in crime.
We love our little boy so much.  Happy 14 months!

Nashville Sounds Game

Tyler got a couple of days off when he switched from nights to days in the MICU and we headed out to the Nashville Sounds game with Jack.  It was his first baseball game & while he did enjoy people watching I think he watched the game a little bit.

We kept him out past his bedtime, but the ice cream helmet we shared kept him happy the whole way home.  We're looking forward to many more games to come....it's a triple A team so we'll have to head back when Round Rock Express comes to town.

Jack loves his dad

He likes to pinch his cheeks...
And poke him in the eye...
Then give him kisses...

And more kisses...

Our new home

When we rented our house in San Antonio, it was out of convinience.  It was REAL close to Tyler's school and University Hospital so I was able to see Tyler at dinner or run him up a coffee during all his long days and nights of studying.  We weren't planning on staying there all four years, but we did and I had never pictured bringing a baby home to that house, but we did.  It became a special place to us but we were definitely ready for a change.

We were ready for a big yard for Jack and Jake, a family friendly neighborhood, trees & flowers, hardwood floors, a playroom, and a nice kitchen.  Also, something simple but since Jack was born I have dreamed of a house with a swing in the yard to push him and future babies.  Tyler wanted a home he could drive up to at the end of a long day at the hospital and have a great feeling.  We have always loved older houses and we found one we loved.

We made an offer on our house May 19th and closed on June 18th.  We had seen it twice for a short period of time (once with our realtor and the next day at open house).  Most of the details we couldn't even remember so we just concentrated on finishing work in San Antonio and the move, but didn't talk much about paint colors, decorating, new furniture, etc for the new house.

Closing day was crazy.  I'm the kinda person that likes to spend time cleaning and painting and fixing BEFORE we move in but this wasn't possible since we were moving from so far away.  We're doing it as we go and it will be a long process.  My parents just left from a week and half here and we worked almost the entire time painting and adding and changing and cleaning and it is coming together but we still have lots on our to do list.  (Shout out to mom & dad - Thank you, again!)

We were able to meet the family we bought the house from briefly a couple of times.  They have two kids and truly loved this house.  When we moved in they had left flowers a couple of notes including their favorite things about the house & neighbors and a sweet note telling us what the house had meant to them and that they hoped it would be the same for our family.  It was so great to read during the craziness of moving in and a confirmation that we were moving into a house of love and a great place for our family to grow and change.

I can't wait for our family to make many memories here.  In our short time I have enjoyed it so much.  I love throwing the ball for jake in the front yard and sitting on the deck.  I love washing bottles in my new sink (random, but I spend alot of time there) and looking out into the backyard.  Jack loves pushing every object imaginable up and down the hall (he's still not walking on his own, but just pushes).  He also loves his new pink bath tub...you think I'm kidding but he really does...like wanted to play in it right when we moved in and wants to go into the bathroom to play whenever he can (we keep the door shut now).  I love the huge trees in the front yard and the white picket fence that I had never dreamed of but fits the house perfectly.  And of course I love pushing Jack in his swing attached to the huge tree in the front yard, where I know other happy children have swung before.

It will take a couple of months to make our own but we will get there.  I'll update inside pictures of the house as we do!  It is our real, own first home and I'm not sure how long we will be here but we will love it while we are.

Goodbye Pineapple School

One of the things we'll miss most about San Antonio is the Pineapple School.  Obviously, leaving Jack the first year of his life was extremely hard, but it made it much easier knowing he was in good hands every day.  I knew that he was being cared for by people that loved him and were teaching him daily.

Having Jack in daycare during my last week of work and while we were busy packing & running around was priceless.  Saying goodbye was very sad, but Jack had a great last day including a party with all of his teachers and classmates.

I took my camera when I dropped him off and picked him up on his last day.  I love the pictures I got with him and his teachers.

They threw Jack a party and gave him a couple of special gifts that we will keep forever.
I LOVE all of the pictures from throughout his first year!

I have already read him the notes his teachers wrote to him inside the book.  I cannot wait to continue to share these notes with him as he grows up.

Thank you to The Pineapple School for the care and love you gave Jack during his first year of life. We will never forget it!
