Canning

.

Grandma Franzen, Makenna, Ashlyn and I were back at this summer canning away. This is probably one of my favorite summer activities, spending it with my girls and Grandma Franzen and learning all the fun tricks of canning. My Grandma amazes me when it comes to cooking in the kitchen. She's one that will look at a recipe, but not really follow it. She adds this and that and this and that and it always turns out yummy. Here in the next few weeks we'll be canning applesauce and apple pie filling. YAY!!! Canning tomato juice.

Makenna loved to help.

Ashlyn not so much.

Our little taste tester.

We didn't get a ton made, but it will be enough to make some chili and vegetable soup this winter.

Grandma Franzen and I tried something new this year with my zucchinis. We made relish and it turned out pretty good. Grandma was also nice enough to shred the rest of the zucchinis and bag them up for me to use later when I make zucchini bread, zucchini bars, zucchini brownies, zucchini cookies and all the other 1000+ zucchini recipes.

With the gigantic zucchinis that I had, we made alot of relish.

Makenna's 1st Day Of School

Well, today was Kenna's first day of preschool at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gifford. It's crazy to think she's already old enough to go to school. Before school started we had to swing by Gifford Grade School to get Kenna's picture taken in front of Aunt Janet's rock.

Ashlyn had to get in a picture too.

Dropping the girls off at Tracy's house. Makenna was so excited that Tracy was going to take her to school.

A BIG thanks to Tracy for taking pictures at school for me. I was really sad I couldn't be there to drop her off on her first day. Tracy said she did great.
