Plow Day

Kenna was excited she got to ride along with her Papa Franzen.
Dad and several others guys from the area got together with their old tractors and plows and spent the day working ground.
 Dad's tractor.
The two of them headed off to the next field.
 Two happy farmers. ♥

Watermelon

Look what the girls and I picked out of our garden!!
I've never really had the best of luck with watermelon in the past, but this year we've picked 2 this size and they were YUMMY.  We've also picked 4 cantaloupe from the garden and they were super yummy too.  I LOVE my garden and wish I could have it all year long.

Canning Tomato Juice

Grandma, the girls and I have been busy making super yummy tomato juice.

Ashlyn helping Grandma Franzen cut up tomatoes.
The juice is cooking. YUM!

 Kenna loves to take pictures.

TA DA  Here are 6 quarts of tomato juice.  We ended up with 13 quarts this day and 9 more the next.  Looks like we'll be eating a lot of soup this winter.  YUM!

Warrior Dash 2012

Candy Franzen, Jack Clifford and I had the best time participating in the Warrior Dash in Crawfordsville, Indiana this weekend.  The course is a 3 mile run through trails with 12 obstacles along the way like running through water, climbing up and down hills, running through mud, climbing over and along walls, swimming...etc.  My Mom and Grandma Ellis were not very happy that I was participating in this crazy race.  Mom told me..."Remember you have 3 kids to raise."  HA  I told her I would be fine and thankfully I made it through without any injuries.  We had such a blast and have already started planning our next Warrior Dash.
Jack, Candy, Me, and we ran into a friend from high school there..Bub G. (Chris Glazik)  It was so fun to see him and his wife, Lisa.
The costumes were hilarious.  The Incredible Hulk was in line with me, but we saw everything from Ninja Turtles, the Pope, a bride and groom, Wonder Women, and Ray Miesterio.
 The start of the race.
Thanks to Ryan he never said anything when I asked him to carry my big camera around to snap pictures.  I think he knows by know that I'm a obsessed maniac when it comes to pictures and I have to have every second of our lives snapped in a picture.  HAHA  He did a great job of snapping pictures of Candy, Jack and I finishing the race.
 Climbing down the cargo net.
Finishing the last obstacle....climbing through mud under barbed wire.

 Candy and I

Having a little mud treatment at the spa. ;)
Making my way through the mud.
At some points of the race I was laughing so hard I couldn't even move.  One point of the race they had 3 or 4  hills that you had to climb over and when you went down you had no choice but to slide because it was so slick.  When you go to the bottom it was filled with water about knee dip and you had to use a rope to get up the next hill.  It was so hard to stand, hard to move, hard to climb, but a blast.  After that obstacle I spent the next half mile spitting out mud because I had inhaled a little from sliding into  it laughing.
Trying to figure how to finish the race without falling.

 Crossed the finish line.
The time says 23 but I think we finished around 48 mins. I told Candy that was pretty good since we have both had 3 kiddos in the last 4 years. ;)

Yay!! We finished.

My bib number along with my medal.  Awesome picture, Ryan. Thanks!! ♥ You
We also ran into Scott Amerio and his sister.  Scott is the superintendent at Rantoul High School.  Thanks to Scott he helped Candy and I through the muddy hill obstacle.  We formed a chain and helped pull each other up the muddy hill laughing along the way.
Our Usain Bolt pose. HAHA
 Biting the Gold!
 Lookin' good, Candy!
 Chris and Lisa Glazik
At the end of the race they had a spot to recycle your shoes.  I had  a hard time deciding which pair of shoes I was going to wear for the race because I have a small obsession with my shoes, especially tennis shoes.  Ryan asked me if I could take about 10 pair along and wear each along the race.  After the race my shoes looked pretty good, but Ryan gave me a look and I did go ahead and recycle them. :(
We also ran into Dan Long, who works with Ryan at Cross Construction.

We all had a GREAT GREAT time and I've already started talking to Ryan about him joining me next year. ;)  Hopefully, Lisa and Kevin will join too!

Next mission is The Amazing Race.  HAHA  Now all I need is a partner.  I printed off the application several years ago, but I couldn't convince Ryan that this was a fabulous idea.  Matter of fact he doesn't think many of my ideas are very fabulous. HAHA  Bahumbug!!! ;)
