If you would of asked me way back when, if I would ever want to run a marathon, I would of laughed at you. When
I started running, my main focus was to get back in shape, but little
did I know that it would turn into a very competitive, goal seeking,
challenge for me. Once I did the 5k, my next step was a 10k, which I
actually skipped altogether and went straight for the half marathon.
Then after completing the half, I knew my next step had to be the full.
I am very thankful for Candy Franzen, for helping me train physically
and mentally for this race. I could not have done it without her.

Before the race.
After race beer and lots of ice for the knees.
Ryan and the girls sent me flowers to work, along with a sweet note, wishing me luck.
Enjoying the expo and taking it all in.

| We finally crossed the finish line 5 hours later. YAY! Thanks to Candy she stayed with me even though I begged her to go on. |
What a wonderful experience all in all. I'm happy I did it even though I ended up having some knee issues during my training and a very painful marathon running experience. I'm currently going through therapy to get me back running again and have already considered running the marathon again in October. Ryan isn't very happy with me and said the other day, "Why can't you just go out and run like 2 or 3 miles?" I wish it was that easy. Running in these races has turned into a slight addiction and the fact that I know I can do better, makes my competitive brain run in high gear to try it again.
