Challenge 2 - oldest stamps SOS 2011 365 #084

Welcome to my Shopping Our Stash project for Challenge #2 - using your oldest stamp set...this one is one of my oldest, but I may have even older ones hiding in buckets somewhere. This one is from the Stampin up catalogue from 2003. It is very versatile and I have actually used it tonnes...on this card, I used 6 different stamps from the stamp set with some masking to connect them all. Haven't done much masking lately, but it turned out okay. The bling is all from our local dollarama and the flowers are primas...yes, I broke down and USED my prima flowers..(hear the sobs...). The ribbon has been in my ribbon drawer for so long because it was too pretty to use....not anymore...and the red velvet paper in the background is leftover from a Christmas scrapbook page in 2005...time to use it up! This card measures 4.25" x 11" and does not fit in a standard business size envelope (just fold an 8.5" x 11" paper in half the long way and voila!), even though in my head I thought it would.... Hope you like what you see and will join in with this challenge....plus, we won't really know if it is the "Oldest" stamp you own...so pick an oldie and play along!

SOS challenge 1 Oldest ribbons 2011 365 #081

This is my submission for my first challenge as a designer for Shopping our Stash The challenge is to use your oldest ribbon or the colour of ribbon that you have the most of. I decided to scrounge up my oldest ribbon that I remembered buying...that was this gigantic roll of teal ribbon that I bought for my wedding in 1994...I bought it to put giant bows on the pews at the church and when we got there to decorate, they said we weren't allowed to put anything up...so I had these giant rolls of super thick plastic-like ribbon and absolutely no projects to use them with...I eventually did a Christmas tree up with them one year and used up lots of it....but the remaining roll became teal flowers cut with nestabilities...the part of the challenge that called for the ribbon that you have the most of one colour...turned into the one with the most of one pattern...polkadots! I have so much polkadot ribbon...why? Who knows? Maybe it is pretty on the roll, but I NEVER use patterned ribbon on my projects...at least if I do, it is very seldom...the ribbon roses were made as well...my youngest is the queen of ribbon roses and she wanted an honourable mention because she made one of the ones on this page....
Come and play with us...I know that you have lots of ribbons to use up!

2011 365 #080 - pinwheel thank yous

Those Opus Gluei girls got my mind a spinning with those pinwheels and now I am pinwheel crazy...spent the last 2 hours or so making pinwheel cards for their challenge and I am totally hooked...plus I have only used scraps from my bin, which was one of my challenges that I set up for myself this year...these ones are all out of my favorite Chatterbox paper (which I now hoard because no one sells it around here anymore)...Louie needed some masculine thank you cards and she said these would suffice to give to her teachers without embarrassing her too much! I think I am partial to the monochromatic one in the front...there is just something about that one that makes me want to keep it...but that is the one she picked for her teacher, so a picture in my memory will be all that remains!

2011 365 #079 - pinwheel birthday

The Opus Gluei girls issued a pinwheel challenge this week and I thought I would play along...these are so cute and super easy to make! Who knew you could make 12 pinwheels and a card to stick them on in under 10 minutes? Plus this card used only scraps! I think I am going to whip up a few more of these in some more masculine scraps for the male teacher thank you cards that I need to make...thanks for looking!
I am entering it in the following challenges:
Opus Gluei: pinwheels

2011 365 #078 - cupcake birthday

This is the replacement card for the previous post...a little more girly...boy those girls are picky! But it does give me an excuse to use these puffy felt stickers that I thought were soooo cute! I am entering it in the following challenges: Crafty Catz: anything goes Allsorts: birthday

2011 365 #077 owl birthday

I made this birthday card for my sister in law, but my oldest said it was too boyish to give to her, so I had to make another one...I am going to enter it in the following challenges:
Just add ink- colour challenge
paper sundaes- pop it up - I don't know if you can tell from the card, but the owl is hand made from a punch from stampin up and it is all in 3-d...so is the balloon, but it looks pretty flat in the picture

2011 365 #076 - plumber butt birthday

I made this card for Gordie's brother's birthday...only because I had made his birthday card earlier in the year, and now I can't find it anywhere...nothing like being prepared and doing stuff in advance?? I am going to enter it in the following challenges: alphabet challenge: c - clean and simple crazy 4 challenges: humourous

2011 365 #075 - with sympathy

My oldest daughter's teacher's mother passed away this week and she asked me if I could make a card for her. (thanks mom for making my flowers, how do you like them sprayed with yellow?)
I am entering it in the following challenges:
simon says stamp challenge: sparkle and shine
crafty creations: something with a flower, a piece of patterned paper and a ribbon

2011 365 #074 father's day card

Shopping our Stash Launch

Hey Everybody! Today is the launch of the Shopping our Stash challenge blog and the first challenge is to post some of your stash online for everyone to see...you can find the challenge here: http://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com/
This looks like it is going to be a great challenge site, and who doesn't have a stash that needs to get used up? I know mine has always been a little out of control, but I also know that I am not the worst one out there....let's start using this stuff up...let's take back some of that space (or in my case, make room for the new :)
My room is never really clean - these pictures are a figment of my imagination...it is usually a disaster, but my new year's resolution was to clean it up and use up my stuff...I did clean it, but it only stayed that way for 3 days...oh well! These first pics are of my desk and my clear stamp area.... My clear stamps are all organized in the Stampin up cases by set...this took me hours and hours to do, but I am soooo glad that I did it...I do find that I use the stamps a lot more now that I can see what I own...seriously contemplating doing it to my wood ones too, but I just don't know if I can bear to break them all apart...there is just something about a wood stamp that is soooo satisfying if you know what I mean. Under my desk is my card stock (12x12) and my scraps...it seems funny even to look at that picture, cuz I usually only have a clear 12x12 space to work on (if I am lucky). The cabinet with the cubes holds all of my extra stamps and adhesives...not in the picture is the other dresser full of stamps...but the mess on top of the dresser didn't do it justice, so I didn't post it...the tins hold all of my chipboard pieces and stuff like that...my girls and I made all of the flower magnets stuck to them...that was a fun project...
These pictures are of the inside of one of the three sides of my closet...I am just showing the clean part of three of the shelves where I store some of my papers etc...I didn't do the other three shelves cuz they are jammed full of stuff and just look like a mess, so here goes:
The plastic containers hold all of my fun stuff...flower soft, spritz, smooch, stickles, embossing powders, flock, pearlex...you get the picture...the shelves of stamps are actually 6 shelves and a giant case on top...but there is no evidence there, so it is not really true ;)
I have a little bit of a paper obsession...I have all of those 12x12 iris cases, my super cool storage shelf on both sides, plus 3 8 foot closet shelves....oh and two rolling totes full as well...oops...I LOOOVE paper...can't get enough of the wonderful stuff!
Next week I may get brave enough to take pictures of the ribbon, flower and bling stash that I have hiding on the other side of the closet....
It's seriously a pretty easy challenge, plus there is blog candy...so please join us and make it a great time!

I also used the Frosted designs sketch, not realizing it is the same site...ooops, but I will enter it in both and hopefully they will not hold it against me! 2011 365 #066 - matchbox mania

I made these little matchboxes for the Opus Gluei match(box) made in heaven challenge. They are doing a swap with them for those who want to participate. I made 8 - one for Jana and one for Rosemary (the two that host the blog) and I have 6 left that I will be more than happy to swap with anyone who may have made more than one ;) . All of my boxes will have the items above in them (or some variation of colour and style. This certainly was a fun challenge...and something I would never have made without being challenged to do them...
