Benny B. is now 6 months. Where has the time gone? And can you believe we've already called Korea "home" for a bit over a year now? And strangely enough, it does feel like home. But enough about that and more about Beebee.
He has been pushing up with straight elbows for quite some time now, and he's getting up on his knees a bit. He seems really sturdy on his hands; so sturdy, that he refuses to roll over from his belly to back. It takes him a really long time to get tired while on his belly, but once he does, he moans and moans like a beached whale until you roll him onto his back. Don't you just love the sweet baby cleavage in the above photo?
Although pictured sucking on his fingers, he has, in fact, become a thumb sucker. I can never get a picture of him sucking his thumb cause he only does it in moments of great distress when picture-taking is not possible.
Let's get the stats out of the way:
Weight: 19.5 lbs (75th Percentile)
Height: 27.5 in (75th Percentile)
He is very googley-eyed. All the Koreans are amazed at the size of his deer-in-the-headlights eyes. So are we, really. We hope his face grows to fit his eyes. Maybe as his face thins, there will be more available skin so his eyes won't be stretched open all the time.
Bennett has really started to protest if I take something away from him. Big brother loves to comfort Baby B when he's feeling blue. Lincoln never runs out of kisses (or whacks) for his little buddy.
Speaking of Mr. Big Brother, here is our little trouble-maker:
Who me? What'd I do?
How can you not love that face and wild hair? How about this face?:
After our trip to the States for Thanksgiving, Lincoln has turned into a total cookie monster. Pretty sure he learned the word "cookie" from Grandma Laila. Now he asks for "kikis" every time I'm in the kitchen and every time I'm not. It's enough to drive me mad. "Kiki? Kiki? Kiki?..."
Lincoln throws everything. He would have a ball in hand all day if I'd let him. He is a loaded gun... you gotta watch out. He knows he's not supposed to throw things at people, but he'll cock his arm, get a little gleam in his eye and wait for your reaction. I've tried all sorts of punishment, and nothing works except taking it away. That REALLY ticks him off. Good thing he's cute. I think that's his only hope for making it through age 2 alive.
We had a rare snowstorm a couple of weeks ago. Here's what the blizzard looked like from 17 stories up.
Lincoln and Lucy didn't know what to think. Lincoln kept looking at the big flakes swirling around and laughing like a mad man. It was really fun to see him in the fresh snow. Sad I missed that photo-op. He'd stick a single finger in the snow, look up at me with a big smile and squeal in delight.
Some of his favorite toys include, the classic Fisher Price pull-along phone:
and, Bennett's Exersaucer and walker. Lincoln wants anything he thinks is Bennett's.
A favorite food is spaghetti. We do the strip-down to avoid stains. Lucy loves it when it's spaghetti night cause she knows there will be belly liking afterward.
Lincoln loves responsibility. He loves that he's in charge of taking his shoes off and putting them away in the cupboard when we come in the house. He loves climbing into the stroller himself. Wish he could change his diapers himself. That'd be cool.
We've been trying to get him to say "Amen" after family prayer for at LEAST 4 months. I am confident he could say it, but he just would outright refuse. I've been working a lot with him on the alphabet lately. A week or two ago, I went in his room to get him up in the morning. He was laying on his back repeating "A, B, C, D... A, B, C, D" while laying on his back kicking his feet around. Now when we say prayer, instead of saying "Amen", he says, "A, B!!". We'll take what we can get, I guess.
We sure love our little guys.
Here's one of Lucy to end on. She loves to lay on any soft spot available. How 'bout the kitchen mat? She has to fluff it up first, of course.
