Goodbye Old House

So it turns out we had to leave as per our contract cause the owners were coming back from abroad. Lucky (or unlucky) for Matt's parents, they scheduled a visit right when we happened to have to move. They broke their backs (almost literally) helping us get situated.

Lincoln Turns 4

1st Row: Hamish Shankland, Chole Caballero, Hannah Caballero, Keenan Shao, Ollie Shankland
2nd Row: Bennett, Ewan Harding, Soren Layton, Lincoln, Ivy Layton, Laila Chan, Salem Charanek

On his actually birthday, we went to Chuck E Cheese's. All his wildest dreams came true (and worst nightmares. Someone dressed as Chuck E Cheese was walking around and Bennett and Lincoln were TERRIFIED).

Pre-party warm-up:

Rented a sweet bouncy house.

Too much going on to make a cake so we bought this ugly thing. Could have fed the 5,000.

Colleen Chan, Laura Charanek, Mary-Ellen Caballero

Yellow Coat: Shao Li Hua, Plaid: Li Hua's mom, Pink Shirt: Jenna Shankland, Far Right: Laura Harding

Grandma and Grandpa Adsero were present somewhere doing work behind the scenes.

Flash Back

Lincoln spilled water on himself for the tenth time of the day yesterday. He marched upstairs to change his clothes. Matt and I were busy getting ready for some dinner guests. As he came down the stairs, Lincoln said, "Look at my new outfit!!!" (I didn't even know that he knew the word "outfit"). This is what he came up with:

It reminded me of the following blog post from when Lincoln was 6 months or so:

When Matt and I were first married, we were getting ready to go some place. I was done getting dressed and waiting for Matt in the living room. He comes out wearing a striped shirt and plaid shorts. It wouldn't have been too bad if either pattern had been a little more subtle, but both were very loud. I put my foot down and made Matt go change. He said, "What don't you like about it? It's funky fresh!". There have been plenty of times since then that Matt has put on kind of a wild combo and I'll say, "I think that might be a little too 'Funky Fresh' for the occasion". The other day I asked Matt to get Lincoln dressed, and this is the outfit he came up with. I should have known. Not only is the outfit Funky Fresh, but the shorts are also 5 times Lincoln's size.

Still Snowing

I remember in Houston hanging a fall wreath on the door, and it was the only hint of fall. Now I've hung a spring wreath on the door and it is the only hint of spring. It's been cold, cold, and the boys built this lovely yesterday.

Sacked

I heard some muffled cries for help and this is what I found:

Things Lincoln has learned at Playschool....

"WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA????"
"It's not fair!!"
"I hate...."
"I give up."
"Never, ever!!"
"Hmph!" (as he folds his arms)

So very pleased about all he's learned this year (and passed on to Bennett).

Mountains

Today, my friends, Laura Harding, and Kyra Miller, and I crammed ourselves and 5 children (all in car seats) into the Acadia and headed for the hills for a last ski of the season. It was not good skiing conditions... slushy and icy, but it was warm and fun. Lincoln wouldn't even wear his sweatshirt. Short sleeves for him! It was maybe 45 F today. There was plenty of whining and complaining, but 4 out of 5 fell asleep after a bit, which made for a good day.

Speaking of the mountains, I was looking at the pics on Matt's phone today and realized I forgot to post a few. On the way home from SLC in March, we stopped by Jackson Hole to fuel the fire of Matt's dream to own a cabin. Aren't the Tetons so pretty? Very lovely country there.

 We saw three moose munching.

This guy is nuts.

And the 3 little men:

Don't mind the dirty window.
