Being bored in the outfield.

Got an itch.

Coach teaching them the "wiggle" and to be "baseball ready".

Being bored some more.

Bennett was one of the smallest on the team, but he was blessed (or cursed) with the Mecham noggin, the the helmets they'd give him were too small, not to mention in his eyes.

Help!!

Whack!

Safe!!!

Lincoln playing first base.

Bored standing on second.

Oh, mom's looking!

Maybe I"ll do a dance to pass the time.

Focused, plowing into third.

The "Tiger's" biggest fan.

The water boy.

High fives.

Tiger growls.

Coach treated them to DQ.

Eldon too!

The whole season they said they were bored, but then after the medals and the ice cream, they say they wanna play next season. We'll see....

Bennett's Performance

Bennett had a little Fashion Show / Mother's Day Performance at his preschool. The filming wasn't great, cause Eldon was sitting on my lap, and was not very happy about it, but you get the idea.

Some moms took this fashion show a little too seriously. Toddlers and Tiaras, for sure!!!

Happy (early)  Mother's Day!!

The soccer star!!!

Are GINORMOUS hair bows in style everywhere or just in Texas where everything is bigger? Please tell me this is just a Texas thing, although I fear that Utah may follow closely thereafter. Utah loves those hair bows. Some of them are bigger than the little girl's face. I am glad I don't have girls, cause they would be the odd ones out with ratty hair and no humongo bow. I can't even manage to get a brush through my own hair.

Bennett walked down the "runway" holding his best friend, Colt's, hand.

When Eldon Went for and Ambulance Ride

November of 2011, Bennett was just 16 months old. Matt and I went out with some friends on my birthday and left the boys with our friends' parents. In the middle of dinner, we got a phone call saying that Bennett was not very happy, and that we should come back. I thought that was a little extreme. Then, we get another call that the ambulance had arrived for Bennett. WHAT?? Turns out he had fever spike which resulted in a Febrile Seizure. Supposedly it is quite common. 1 in 25 kids will have them and then out grow them by age 6. Apparently this was not the last we'd have of them in our family cause April 29th, Eldon had one too.

I was out it the back yard working on a trellis I had been building. The boys were playing in the yard. Eldon kept wandering around, moaning, wanting me to hold him. He had already napped, so I thought he might be hungry. I got him some bits of apple and a little sandwich, and went back to work. When that didn't solve the problem, I decided that he may need a second nap.

On the way up the stairs to his bedroom, out of no where, he threw himself backwards out of my arms. I nearly dropped him down the stairs, but managed to grab his arm. It seemed so odd, he had never done that before. Then I looked at his face. It looked so strange. I thought he was choking, cause he had had apple in his mouth. I started to vigorously pat him on the back, but then realized that he was shaking. I knew in an instant what was happening. I raced the rest of the way up the stairs and laid him on his side like I had read about when Bennett had had his. I hadn't been there for Bennett's seizure. It seemed so strange to just stand there and watch my little baby's eyes roll back in his head, and his lips turn blue while he shook uncontrollably. I felt anxious, yet strangely calm at the same time as I was fairly confident that it was a Febrile Seizure, although I didn't know that he was running a fever. Just in case I was wrong, I, for the first time, legitimately called 9-1-1. Yet another foreign feeling.

Eldon seized for at least a full minute. A minute seems like a really long time when watching your baby seize. As I mentioned previously, he had some apple in his mouth. I tried to get it out, but he bit me as he seized. There was no way to get it out, but he seemed to be breathing fairly well despite what was happening. I just watched him, and rubbed his back until he stopped. He moaned a little afterwards. I got the apple out of his mouth and then he fell into a deep, deep sleep.

The paramedics arrived a few minutes later. They stripped him down and took a rectal temperature. Lincoln and Bennett had come in from the backyard by then, and were very excited that an ambulance was at our house. They thought it was very funny that they were sticking things in Eldon's bum. I thought that that was a good time to turn on a show for them.

My friend, Holly, came and stayed with the boys while Eldon and I went for an ambulance ride. By the time we arrived at the hospital, Eldon had come out of the trance a bit more. He was bothered by the pulse monitor taped to his big toe and was trying to rip it off. Then he wanted out of the stretcher buckles. It was so nice to hold him, and feel like he was my baby again after seeing him in such a strange state. They determined it was, in fact, a Febrile Seizure. He had had a fever of 103 F. He fell into another deep, deep sleep in the ER and didn't wake up for many of their tests.

Matt came as soon as he could. They just monitored him for a couple more hours at the hospital, gave him a popsicle and then released him. No biggie. How can something so out of the ordinary and so dramatic be no biggie?? I don't know but I'm glad it wasn't. I much prefer him sleeping like he is below, in his own bed than on the stretcher in the hospital. We went to Kindergarten registration for Lincoln minutes after Eldon was released. So grateful that life could carry on as if nothing had happened.

Such a precious little guy. Sure love those soft legs and the best hugs ever.

Here's a cute video of him waking up from a NORMAL nap:

Take me out to the ball game...

Bennett up to bat.

Lincoln up to bat.

Benny running home.

When Auntie Julia Came to Visit.

While Matt was gone to Indonesia, Julia took time off work to come and keep us company over Easter, and Lincoln's Birthday. We went to a million restaurants and celebrated Lincoln's birthday and every one of them. Lincoln's birthday turned out to be a week long. She wasn't here for long, so we made the most of her time and saw everything possible. Wore the kids right out.

First stop... Pappasittos for fajitas, of course. Gotta have some Tex Mex.

Thanks Julia and Laura!!

Stop 2, Dollar Day at the Horse Races of course.

Scoping out the prospects, getting ready to place their bets.

Little tiny Hispanic jockeys as far as the eye could see.

We dressed up a little, but it turned out cutoffs and tattoos were the dress code. Shoulda known. I thought we'd be the classless ones without big hats and white gloves like on Mary Poppins.

Happy Easter!!

Peep!

Urkel.

Watchin' shows in their undies while Julia irons their Sunday clothes for me.

Hit Galveston:

Life of a disobedient dog... tethered to a stroller.

Terrible, blurry photos. You get the idea.

Dancing to the music.

Surfs up.

Rented this bad boy.

One at the beach.

Went throught McD's drive thru for some ice cream.

Not a good idea.

Dolphin tour in Galveston Bay!!

Snuggles

Pelicans

Looking really hard for those dolphins. Saw a few.

Overprotective mom made them were life jackets. Sue me.

Hot day at the zoo.

The Rhinos thought it was hot too!

Long, hot bike ride.

We love you, Julia!!! Glad you came to visit us!!
