September This n' That

Ate at Mel's Country Cafe. Matt had been dying to try it. There were SO many people there.

Pretty humid still, some days. Ran in the clouds.

Found a lizard under the exersaucer, poor guy.

I was letting Eldon do some water table play in the sink. Next I knew, clothes were off and he was in the sink. He always keeps me on my toes.

Finally finished staining our table. I wish I could leave it in it's raw form. I love raw wood, but I know the kids will ruin it.

And now, I have miraculously caught up on the blog. I feel so proud and accomplished!

Oliver is 4 Months!

Mr. 4 Months

The stats:

Weight: 16 lbs 4 oz (68th %ile)
Height: 26" (85th %ile)
Head: 16.54" (62nd %ile)

He is not the 97th %ile guy he used to be. Doc is keeping a watch on it. His first 2 months he gained 6.5 lbs. Second 2 months, not even a pound. Needless to say, I'm worried, but he still looks healthy and he's got some "extra". He is not a small child, but not the blob he was.

He's now sleeping for the most part in a crib in Eldon's old room. Eldon has moved in with the other boys, and loves it. He still gets up 1 to 2 times a night. I created that monster by nursing him to sleep in our bed, but he'll be in college in no time, so I don't mind snuggling with him in the night.

He is very grabby, now. Hair puller. He laughs hard. He'll get offended if you set him down when he would rather be held, and he'll let you know about it. He has what someone referred to as a potato face or maybe Jabba the Hutt face, but when you make eye contact, his eyes light up and you quickly get a big smile.

He is very mild mannered and easy going for the most part. The boys adore him. Whenever they are crying, or hurt, "Super Oliver" comes to save the day with a Super Oliver kiss. Tears turn immediately to giggles. Lincoln, especially is a good older brother. He is always very concerned when Oliver is crying and does his best to soothe him.

While Eldon does like the baby, he also enjoys picking him up 3 inches off the ground and dropping him, so Mama Bear does have to be on alert.

He is a little sweetsie. I am doing my best to savor each moment. The thought that he might be our last makes me sad. I love my babies. Who knows, maybe he won't be our last.

He rolled over (Sept 11) in the laundry room while I was helping the other boys do something elsewhere. Poor buddy. Mom didn't even witness his first roll from back to belly.

Angel face.

Eldon's 3rd Birthday

Wouldn't take his Storm Trooper costume off. Love the stains on the front. We keep it classy.

Can't believe little Eldies turned 3. Where has the time gone!! 2/3rds of his life has been spent in the home which seems so odd to me. Seems like we should have moved by now. Time is always playing tricks on me.

About Eldon:
  • He still loves his "guys". Little guys of any sort that he can carry in his little hands. He tries to carry armfuls around the house.
  • He can use the potty but refuses to. Have yet to find anything that'll motivate him.
  • Is a great little talker (albeit through his nose). Always surprising me with the hysterical things he says.
  • Does not like it when I try to teach him anything academic. I have to sneak it in and make it as game-like as possible. Good thing he has another nearly 3 years to learn his letters and numbers!!
  • Still likes to throw big, hard toys at his brothers or do whatever necessary to get his way.
  • Loves his long sleeve, long pant PJs and will wear them all day if I don't feel like fighting him about it. Even outside at the park. Doesn't mind that it's 1,000 degrees outside.
  • Will beg for baths and will stay in there all the day long if you let him, but he must bring some of his guys in to join him.
  • "Peanut butter with sandwich" is the food he requests for every meal. Must be cut in triangles. Gives his crust to Lucy.
  • Eating more veggies than he used to.
  • Octonauts is the only show he ever wants to watch, much to his brothers' dismay.
  • Makes a stink about going to nursery if I drop him off, but goes right in if Matt takes him. Does that mean he thinks I'm a sucker??
  • Enjoys eating toothpaste any chance he gets.
  • Has a mini obsession with the spray bottle on our ironing board.
  • If you give him a regular cup, inevitably, it ends up spilled on the floor or filled with his guys or some nasty concoction of whatever was on his plate. Sippys for life.
Here was his party:

The Stewarts, the Gregory's, the Westovers and the Halls came to the party.

I need to delete photos off my camera cause I only had room for snippets of video.

Opening presents.

Enjoying his new Octopod from Octonauts.

Casts off!!

To our surprise, Lincoln only had to have his casts on for 4 weeks.

Stinky grossness. Good riddance!

Look at the disgusting marbled tan/dry skin underneath. They were super itchy!!

Celebrated by getting sugar cereal at the cafe inside the hospital.

Tuckered everyone out on the way home.
