Haircut

I can't believe I forgot to post this...

Utah weather did a number on Megan's hair when we first got here, so we decided to take her to get a haircut. She got to sit in a pink car, blow bubbles, watch Barney, and eat a sucker. She was SO good. And the stylist showed me how to do her hair using styling gel and mousse. Why didn't I think of that? Anyway, she had a great time.

It's a "lizard" out there...

Daddy had to go back to Texas today, and we are very sad. I tried to talk him into staying longer, but he has a J-O-B that might not be so forgiving. We sent him out in style today with a "lizard" (Megan's term for blizzard). It's snowing so hard here today that the snow is blowing sideways. It is VERY cool, from inside. The forecast calls for 4-8 inches by 5 p.m. tonight. Uncle Matt says we're not allowed to wish for snow when we visit next time...he doesn't think it's as cool as we think it is. *BTW, I've added new posts to the Sundance blog. Hope you enjoy!

Christmas in Sundance

Instead of 55 new posts on this blog, and repeats on the other family blogs, we've decided to compile the posts on our own Christmas in Sundance Family Blog. Feel free to check it out...we'll all be posting as soon as we can get our pictures fixed and posted.

In case you're worried about whether or not Megan got her bicycle...Santa came through!

Vomit!

I don't have a picture of this, you're welcome, but Megan puked all night last night! It's something about getting these two girls together (Las Vegas) that makes them puke...so far no pukies this morning/afternoon.

Fun play date

Aunt Karlie had us over for a FUN play date today. First we played and chased and took pictures in front of the tree. There are some with Jayden in them, too, but they are on Aunt Krissa's camera. Anyway, Aunt Karlie had a fun activity for the kids. She let them help cook lunch! It was so fun. She cut everything up and let them put it all together. Of course the first thing they did was eat handfuls of whatever she put in front of them. She also let them stir the dough and use cookie cutters. During this whole process, I was cringing thinking about the mess...Aunt Karlie was more concerned with them having fun. Good Mommy/Aunt!!!

Please Mr. Snowman

Megan had a nice little (one-sided) conversation with Aunt Krissa's snowman decoration today.
Megan: Please, Mr. Snowman, I want a bicycle. For "Kissmass", okay? Here, let me fix your jacket (scarf). You have an orange nose? You cold? You want some jacket?
I hope Mr. Snowman was listening to her about the bicycle in case Santa forgot.

Learning to share is hard!

It's been a tough 24 hours for Megan and Rylee. They've had a hard time getting acclimated to each other after a long 2 months apart. Poor Rylee has taken the brunt of Megan's stubborness and bullying...today was, "please share or I'm going to go nuts" day. Megan spent most of last night and this morning in time-out. Perhaps (hopefully) it has passed...they've been much better this evening.

Uncle Jeff

Uncle Jeff took time out of his busy work schedule to come visit the girls tonight. He is SO good with them. He spent time playing on the stairs, letting both of them throw objects at his head and giggle...then he'd throw them back, etc. Who knew that could be so fun? Thank you for coming over tonight! We'll try to let you go earlier next time.

Snow Lessons for a Texan

Uncle Matt taught Megan how to make and throw snowballs (Megan's is the little white dot in front of her).

Aunt Krissa taught Megan how to make a snow angel. I purposely left the one picture darker so you could see her beautiful angel. Aunt Krissa also taught Megan how to eat snow! Can't wait to see where that leads... :)

Giddiness

Okay, so instead of packing right now, I'm working. While I'm waiting for a document to save and upload, I'm floating around on the Weather Channel , and it looks like we are going to have a white Christmas!! I am SO freakin' giddy about the prospects of snow on Christmas. Why? Who knows. Maybe because hmmm...have I ever had a white, snowy Christmas? Not one that I can recall. But does it really matter? I'll just be watching it from inside anyway. I don't even like to be outside in cold weather. I just like the idea of snow and cold weather. Then why, again, am I spending 3 weeks in Utah during the winter? Because! It's going to be so much fun!!!

Dear Tony Romo,

I'm quite busy, and still trying to decide, so this letter will be very short. The question weighing heavily on my mind is this: Should I be MORE disappointed in the crappy game tonight or in your choice of women? I'll let you know when I decide. I do know this for sure: today's performance does not even warrant your pic on my blog.

Sincerely,
ME

Instead of packing, I'm blogging about packing

Hmmm...what should I pack for a 3 week trip, over Christmas, to Utah? This is the pile of stuff on the end of my bed...this is what I have to try to cram into 2 suitcases, under 50 lbs each, and 1 carry-on. Wish me luck!!! Back to my list of crap to do before I can leave...ugh...

Christmas #2

Tonight we had Christmas with my aunt, uncle, cousins Kati, Ryan, and Andrew. We started the evening with a YUMMY dinner - good job guys - that I had to literally get up from the table to stop eating. Oh, while we were cooking and socializing, Grandpa was in there teaching Megan how to roll the dice. Scary. Then we watched the Megan show as she opened her present as well as everyone else's presents. She got a gorgeous gold purse filled with Hello Kitty bandaids, a pencil, a notebook, a mirror and ...drumroll..."lisstick" (red Chapstick). She must have applied the first 1/4 inch of it away in less than an hour.

Unfortunately, Aunt Kari had to go to time out because she started to unwrap her present out of turn...Megan supervised the time out session. Poor Aunt Kari. Maybe next year she will behave! :) Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to get together with us this Christmas. We love you! And Megan especially loves her Uncle Gary!

TX Cousin Christmas

Since we're leaving next week, we had to have our Texas Christmas early. This morning we opened gifts with Papa and Gran. Megan got a Viewfinder (blast from the past for me) and a doctor set. She inoculated all of us against the flu at least 3 times each. She also checked our ears and blood pressure. This evening, we got together with the Texas cousins to exchange presents. First, as always, we did a craft. We decorated paper Christmas trees with all kinds of goodies - sequins, pom-poms, lights, bells, etc. Next, we ate a yummy lasagna/spaghetti dinner, followed by Christmas treats. "Aunt" Morgan made cute, yummy little Santas and reindeer cupcakes - she is SO creative! Then we opened presents! Megan got a Sleeping Beauty outfit, a treasure chest of cool Island Princess dress-up clothes (she called it her tackle box), a wand, a tiara, a play cell phone that looks just like mine, and a portable DVD player (so I'll quit borrowing Aunt Kelly's!). Last, but not least, we made sugar cookies. The kids had sprinkles and decorations ALL over the house! But they had a great time together. It was very hard to leave...we'll sure miss them on Christmas Day!

Christmas is coming!!

Last night we went over to Grandpa and Grandma's house to play - oh and to welcome Granna and Double G! Grandma and Granna helped me wrap presents for our Cousin Christmas (today), and Grandpa kept Megan occupied by watching Cinderella (Megan, to Grandpa: Come sit here, Grandpa, and watch Cinderelly with this.) Uncle Scott and Bonsu made an appearance, which made Megan SO happy! Megan found a tutu and a book; she made a perfect little reading spot in Grandma's wrapping paper box. She'll read anywhere!

Defeated

For 23 months I managed to forbid french fries (at least to my knowledge...I know people allowed her to have them when I wasn't around), but those days are over. While I was getting her lunch ready at McD's, she climbed up on the table and helped herself to my french fries. Suddenly her apple dippers didn't taste the same. Dang she's getting too smart for me!

SO embarrassing!

I don't know if I can ever show my face in Target again. Megan and I were shopping for some warm pj's for me to take to Utah. I was looking at pj's; she was feeling all of the fabrics. All of a sudden I heard, with Megan's special question inflection, "Momma, you need new aquareene boobies?" WHAT? I turned around to see her holding up an aquamarine colored bra. She kept repeating over and over again, "You need new boobies?" I tried to get her to shush, but no way...she kept asking it over and over again - pretty loudly. People kept walking by and laughing at her, and me too, I guess. She even told the cashier that her mommy needed new aquareene boobies. SO embarrassing!

Steroids and Major League Baseball

Yeah, I'd do better at my job as a stay-at-home mom if I could illegally drug myself, too. Shame on you guys!

Lucky me

I am very lucky to have such great sisters-in-law. We all get along, and they all put up with me! What more can I ask for?
For several months, Krissa and I have spent hours on the computer and phone planning for my 3 week excursion to Utah. She has planned, shopped, and analyzed every small detail in order to make Megan and I feel welcome and comfortable. It is amazing all of the things she has thought of - toilet seat for Meg, snow boots, snow suit, stroller, car seat, food, sleeping arrangements, putting in an order for lots of snow, activities for us to do while we're there, etc, etc, etc. My kid would be running around Utah in a flimsy jacket and riding in a regular seatbelt if it were up to me to think of these things. I've had so much fun talking about and planning our trip...you'd think we hadn't seen each other in 10 years instead of 2 whole months! Just last night we were up into the wee hours of the morning talking about the trip and messing with our blogs via chat (like two high school chicks). Oh, and not only has she planned for us to come, but she's been the head coordinator for the food and arrangements for our family Christmas at Sundance. She is SO organized and thorough. I can't wait until next Tuesday! And no mocking intended...thank you for being you, Kris!

Pink Oranges (last post of the day, I promise)

Okay, if you haven't had one of these babies, you're missing out! Yes, pink oranges. Yummy! My addicition first started about 2 years ago when I was ginormously pregnant with Megan. I stumbled upon them one day at the store, in the middle of December, and have loved them ever since. I found them again on Saturday night (sadly, they are only available mid-December to early January every year) and have eaten at least 6 since then. YUMMY! If your mouth is already watering, run to Whole Foods...they are stacked to your right as you go into the store. I'll probably be standing in front of the display!

Christmas light drive

Tonight we took a drive through Gran and Papa's neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. Of course I had to have the idea on the coldest freakin' night of the year, instead of last week when we were sweating, but we all bundled up and loaded in the minivan (refer to previous post...I hate my brain). Anyway, it was so fun to hear Megan say, "Wheee," and "Whoa..." when she saw any lights. We particularly liked these two houses.

"It's aquareene day!"

Megan officially declared today "Aquareene Day." She had her aquamarine shirt on first. I was getting ready, and she picked my aquamarine shirt out of my closet. I said, "If we wear these together we will match." She said, "It's aquareene day, mama." Thus declared.

Move over Picasso...

Megan is dangerously artistic with her bathtub crayons! In case you are not able to identify the abstracts, she drew a Christmas tree, a reindeer with legs, an orange, Tony Romo, Marion Barber, and a man with three legs.

I hate my brain...

but I sure do appreciate my mom for bailing me out of my (ridiculous) idea! I couldn't sleep the other night...something was nagging at me...but I managed to have a thought. I decided I should make 3 Christmas gifts one week before my trip to Utah. Why did that become the decision? Because my brain made me do it! So in-between a two-year old, grant deadlines, and Christmas shopping, I'm making gifts (and a huge mess in Gran's dining room!). My mom completely understands about starting projects at the last minute, so she has helped me with Megan and the projects. Can't I ever just have a normal thought?

Little Helper

Megan helped me write Christmas cards last night. She wrote the special messages; I addressed them. We made a great team (when she wasn't throwing crayons).

Dear Tony Romo,

That was a funny little practical joke you played on me today, losing until the last 18 seconds of the game. If it weren't for 'ole Jason Whitten and his 15 receptions and 138 yards, you might've blown it! Perhaps you don't understand what it's like around our house when the Cowboys lose. First, Papa likes to rub it in, so I get to hear Daddy and Papa banter back and forth. Then, our Daddy gets VERY upset, grumpy, moody, defensive (speaking of defensive, where was the defense today?), and just plain annoying to be around. Could you please quit waiting until the last possible minute to win? I couldn't even enjoy the game; I was too busy worrying about the potential for "Grumpy Daddy". Oh, and the comment in your post-game interview about "this is where you want to be,"? Uh NO! You aren't a legend yet, bud. Save it for later.

Sincerely,
Me

Christmas Parade

Daddy is out of town for the weekend, so Megan and I had a date for the city Christmas Parade. Thank you, Mr. Cold Front, for stalling about 60 miles west of us so that it was 72 degrees at parade time. Megan got to see Santa, Frosty, Rudolph, puppies, horses, cars, trucks, fire engines, bikes, lights, lights and more lights. She waved her glow stick at just about everyone, and yelled, "Merry Christmas" more times than I could possibly count. When she saw the decorated golf cart, she said, "I go look for George the Egret on the golf cart." She especially enjoyed the bands and music.
