Strange creature...

We found a strange, crawling creature in our house tonight.

It's a CONNOR-A-SAUROUS!!!

(We just wanted to see if his Halloween costume fit, and we got a little carried away with our playtime.)

my first blog by megan

Last night at the game Mommy let me take pictures with her camera. I taked all these pictures.

I saw some people around the Rangers game.

I got this puppy at the Rangers game. It broke, and I cried.

I love Ryan and Kati.

I love Saltalamacchia.

This is my favorite face Connor makes.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Silly Saturday morning

Daddy and Megan got donuts for the family this morning. Apparently the sugar hit us all very quickly, and it all went downhill from there.

DSC_0621

Connor LOVES to attack and drool all over his sister! And she may act like she doesn't like it, but she really loves it. She antagonizes him and encourages it.

Fajita Friday

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just blogging about Friday night. Give me a break. :)

We had a collaborative dinner Friday night with our next door neighbors. Things have been kind of busy for both of our families lately, so we've started this, "...what're you guys having?" and "Hey, I have the sides if you have some sort of meat/main dish." And that's how our fajita dinner was born on Friday.

Megan loves our next door neighbor, Justin, and she just couldn't wait for him to get home from work. She paced the house, asked many times to call him, sat at the window, and begged to go knock on his door. 'bout drove me nuts. He finally got home, and we finally got dinner together.

We're not fancy...

Megan also found a new buddy in our neighbor Nate. He played football (catch) with her, and let her be his shadow all evening. Daddy came home, late, with Megan asleep on his shoulder. That means it was a very successful evening!

Connor's routine

Wee Connor b

Pull up on Mommy.

Stand.

Balance.

Let go.

Stand for a few seconds.

Flop down.

Repeat. Many, many times.

(Thanks, Kez for snapping the pic!)

Hood rats

DSC_0604

Well, while some people are sad that summer is over, we're enjoying the cooler weather! Megan wanted to go on a family walk tonight, so we waited for our neighbors, bundled up, and took off. Once we all had our jackets on, Megan wanted us to all wear the hoods. Connor was not a fan, but he played along. Now, for those of you who are not from these parts, it probably doesn't even qualify as "chilly" to you. But it is to the kids and me.

Crawling and whistling

Well, he's officially using crawling as the primary mode of transportation rather than the scoot and shuffle on his hiney. He crawled all over the living room tonight...and he's 7 months tomorrow!

While he's busy crawling, Megan's busy practicing her whistling. (Please ignore the last few frames of her putting her finger in her nose.)

For the love of Pete!

DSC_0599c

Why don't my children just let me rest? Why? Between questions that require Google searches from one child, to pulling up and testing out how long he can stand up unassisted, they're giving me gray hairs!

Connor surprised us all by pulling up to a standing position on his toy tonight. He further surprised us by letting go to see how long he could do stand there. After he plopped down, he looked over at us with such a proud little face. Oh my...

Rangers and NO RAIN!

We finally made it to and through the Rangers game with the Aussies! NO RAIN! Amazing. The Rangers lost, but the kids and the game were entertaining.

Megan was all too excited once she got to have some COTTON CANDY! Thank you for sharing, Ryan.

We managed to make it through the game AND the fireworks show afterward. We were worried about Connor's reaction to the fireworks, but he loved them. Not a peep.

Science explained

In the car, on the way home from dinner last night.

Mommy: Dang, it's raining again!
Megan: Did God get out of bed?
Mommy: *pause* Um, what?
Megan: Did God get out of bed?
Mommy: I don't know, why?
Megan: Because it rains when God gets out of bed.
Mommy: Really? It does?
Megan: (matter of factly) Yep!

Edelweiss

Well, we didn't have anything going on around here for me to blog about, so I asked Daddy if he wanted to cash in on his "never-been-used" Father's Day dinner tonight. HA! Not really.

DSC_0437

Megan had a root beer float for the first time. She said she LOVES root beer floats now.
DSC_0439

Connor had a tablecloth. And some bread. Is it even okay for him to have bread yet?
DSC_0442

DSC_0452

This was my dinner. But I'll have to admit, I'm not a German food person. I took one bite of each thing, choked them down, and boxed it up for Daddy for lunch tomorrow.
DSC_0444

Megan decided that it was much more efficient to eat her mushroom spaghetti with 2 forks instead of 1.
DSC_0450

They had a special magician there tonight. Megan got to be the magician's assistant. Now she does a cute little magic trick that I'm trying to get on video. Oh, and she got to play the accordion.

Couldn't resist...

Random camera

The kids and I were home alone this evening, and we got a little bored. What better way to pass time than to hand Megan the camera and/or let her direct the shoot? These were not taken with my fancy camera...she tried.

I've been telling people about Connor's new method of transportation, but I'm sure it's been hard to imagine. I finally caught it. He knows how to crawl, but he prefers the "sit and pivot" method.

And I really have no words to introduce this video...it's just honest Megan conversation followed by some Connor playtime. Please ignore my recently folded laundry in the background. It's long...sorry. Enjoy!

Karah's Party

Last night we went to dinner at Babe's Chicken for Karah's birthday. We had a delicious dinner and lots of entertainment from the kids.

Convo with Megan.

Megan: How old are you?
Mommy: 32.
Megan: Whoa. I won't be that number for a long, long, long, long, long...(repeated)
Mommy: Okay already.
Megan:...time. How old is Daddy?
Mommy: 35
Megan: Oh. How old is Micky Mouse?
Mommy: I don't know...like 50 or something?
Megan: I think Cinderella is 29. Yep, she's 29 and as tall as the prince.
Mommy: She's almost as old as me.
Megan: No, you're OLDer.
Mommy: Let's change the topic.

JBF - First timer!

So for about a year, I've heard my mom's group friends talk about "JBF". They always talk about how fun it is, the great deals, and "volunteering" to get an early pass. JBF is the "Just Between Friends" consignment sale (www.jbfsale.com) in Fort Worth. Basically, you can take your extra clothes and/or any kids stuff to consign AND/OR you can shop. Win, win, right? I missed the spring sale because I was busy birthing a baby, but I got in on this sale.

You don't have to consign clothes, but if there are extras lying around, why not? Yeah, I didn't decide to consign until 2 days before the clothes were due - and it was my first time, so I was a little panicky. My friend Alyssa taught me the ways and helped me hang, price, and tag my clothes (thanks!). I put a ton of maternity clothes in there for cheap because I never want to see those suckers again!

By volunteering, I got an early pass to last night's preview sale. Holy smokes! I HAD SO MUCH FUN! This is what the center looks like:

CIMG5954
(You can see my laundry cart...I used that for my goods.)

I shopped for about 3 hours. My goal was to find: pj's for Connor, dresses for Megan, and a few toys for Connor. Here was my "start" pile, before I sorted and rejected:
CIMG5957

I ended up with some GREAT DEALS!

For Connor:
11 PJ's, 3 shirts, 3 jeans, 2 bum around pants, 1 sweater, 1 overalls, 4 toys, 5 hooded towels, 4 washcloths, dinosaur Halloween costume, new package of cups and spoons...I think that's it.

For Megan:
3 shirts, 1 felt/flannel board playset. Yeah, she got shorted, but she's so freakin' picky, and I can't return things!

I got home at 12:30 a.m., and I was so exhausted. BUT, it was worth it. Clothes are all in the washer, and Connor's toys are all wiped down and disinfected. He LOVES them!

Good start to the weekend

We started the weekend out with a "reunion" dinner with a few friends of mine from high school. More about that later...it'll remain a mystery for now.

Today, we headed out to spend the afternoon with Kati and Ryan while Daddy went to his fantasy football draft. We met at the play area in the mall where Megan played, jumped, and romped all over the place. Then we had a buffet style lunch in the food court.

Ryan got Megan some gum from the gumball machine. What a treat!
DSC_0292

Megan and Ryan rode the carousel...and then rode it again (I'm sure Ryan begged Megan to ride again - or wait, was it the other way around???)

DSC_0299

After lunch and the ride, we went shopping. I'm pretty sure Megan touched every single thing in the Disney store at least once. Then Kati taught her about window shopping. Now, she loves that term. We window shopped a few more times today, too.
DSC_0351

And let me just tell you...these two are troopers! And I'm not talking about my kids. Kati and Ryan so good with my kids! They aren't afraid to just scoop one up and take off to have fun. Here's a sneak preview of them with 2 kids someday (not too soon):

A little too much computer time???

Megan was running around the house singing a song that only she knows (it is a real song, but she has changed the lyrics) over and over and over again. It's accompanied by a dance, too, that resembles a run, skip, and a flit or two of ballet. She stopped, got silent, stood still, and said, "Click on me, and I'll sing it again for you."

"But about the Buddhist temple?"

Okay, I can't pass this one up. As most of you know, there is NO telling what will come out of Megan's mouth next. Her mind is constantly running, and she is extremely curious. Having said that...

Daddy and I commute together each morning to work. On the way, we listen to the local talk radio station to monitor the traffic flow. Between each traffic report, they report news stories. Usually we talk as a family or we adults converse during the news stories and then tune in during the traffic report. One day last week, it was rather quiet in our car. The news lady reported about a fire at a local Buddhist temple. Basically the report stated that witnesses called 911, people were rescued, and the building had damage. Immediately, Megan latched onto that story. Of course she asked at least 100 questions about Buddists, fire, damage, rescue, 911, and various other topics. Remember, that was last week. SINCE THEN, she brings up the Buddhist temple story for discussion. I do not know what more we could possibly say about the burned down Buddhist temple, but according to Megan we haven't talked about it enough. Just this morning, after she heard about the California wildfires on the radio, she said, "But about the Buddhist temple?" then we went into the Buddhist temple conversation again. Perhaps something else will distract her from that topic tomorrow.

Connor's first haircut

Yeah, Daddy had been bugging me about the hair growing down Connor's forehead and over this ears. I thought he was way to young to get a haircut, but I finally just quit holding out. Gran gave him a trim. It took 3 hands and scissors to get it done. He didn't like it at first, but quickly sat still. He looks so handsome.

Family love

We got together with the cousins and Gran and Papa this weekend. Megan had a great time with the girls. I heard all kinds of pretendness going on between the three of them. She's a lucky girl!

Connor spent some quality time with Aunt Taryn...and gave her lots and lots of wet kisses.
