June

Today was my last day at school....sigh!  I am so excited for summer to just spend time with my boys and not be in a constant state of feeling like a turkey with my head cut off running here and there.

Elliot
* At the end of May Elliot and I took a trip to Disneyland with our friends Kaitlin and Blake.  We had a blast, although I think I scarred Elliot for the rest of his life.  It was day 1 at Disneyland and Elliot was loving the rides.  I asked him if he wanted to go on a dark roller coaster with lights (aka Space Mountain), he said yes and we got in line.  About 5 seconds into the ride I decided that I probably shouldn't have trusted his 3 year old response.  If I had asked him if he wanted to jump off a cliff, he probably would have said yes too.  Needless to say he was afraid of EVERYTHING after that ride.  Even on the plane ride home when there was turbulence he kept saying, "I'm all done now".  Since coming home we can't even go over the floating bridge without him saying he is scared.  We often hear, "this is to high a me", or "this too scary a me" from the back seat.  Poor kid.
* For Father's Day we got a root beer keg because Andrew loves root beer.  The other morning I woke up and heard some noise in the backyard.  I looked out our window only to see Elliot standing on the back patio, filling a water bottle with root beer at 6:30 in the morning.  Who knows how long he was out there and who knows how much root beer he consumed for breakfast that day.
* His preschool class is finished for the summer.  He really LOVED school and just couldn't get enough of riding on the bus.  He adored his teachers Ms. Aliki, Ms. Kelsey, and Ms. Hitomi and talked about them constantly at home.  When I asked him what he wanted to get his teachers at the end of the year he was adamant that we get them flowers.  He went to Trader Joes with me, picked out flowers and was so proud.  He wouldn't even let me put them in the cart, he said that he had to carry them.  He was so sad when I had to explain to him that the teachers didn't live at school and wouldn't be there at 8:30pm when he wanted to drop them off.
* We are officially starting potty training today...wish me luck!
* He still loves to ride his bike.  He is now doing tricks on his bike which give me a heart attack.  He loves to "make dusty" which means kicking up a lot of dust with his bike.  He also loves to ride his bike without his shirt on while yelling, "Metal Mulisha!"  We are the classy ones in the neighborhood for sure.
* He loves to count.  The only problem is that his counting usually goes something like, "1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10."  Who needs 2 and 3 anyways?
* His new obsession is remote control cars.  His cousins have them and that's all he wants to do when he is with them.  Papa took him to Fred Meyer on Monday and bought him his very own.  He couldn't be happier.  Andrew has already had to fix it about 10 times because he loves to "make dusty" with it.

Oliver
* He's had a rough month....2 weeks ago I got a call at work that he fell and hit his head and was not acting right.  I raced home, took him to the doctor, only to find out that he didn't have a head injury, but instead a really bad double ear infection.  Go figure.
* A week later I got another one of those dreaded calls.  This time it was Andrew telling me that I needed to meet him at Children's Hospital.  Long story short, he fell off a chair and broke the bone above his elbow.  They put him in a splint to let the swelling go down before they casted it.  3 days into the splint cast he got it soaking wet in the tub (I guess my Ziploc with a hair tie isn't going to get a patent anytime soon).  I had to race back to Children's before the urgent care closed to have them put on a 2nd temporary cast.  I literally drove 80mph so that I didn't have to go sit in the ER again for hours on end!  Today he got his permanent cast.  He's sporting a blue cast on his left arm all the way up to his armpit.  Happy summer Ollie!
* He loves to dance and copy anything Elliot is doing.
* He loves to snuggle and give kisses.  Unfortunately his kisses are a sort of prolonged head butt.  Kind of awkward, but a work in progress.  I guess he shows his affection with uninterrupted eye contact.
* He no longer walks, just runs.

-Pictures below are compliments of Bryce Moulton.  If it weren't for him, I would have no documentation of my children's lives.

May Already?

Time has just flown by!  We are settled in our new rental house and loving it!

Elliot
* Started his new preschool at Dickinson Elementary.  He loves his teacher Ms. Aliki and is obsessed with riding the bus home.  He can't get enough of Mr. "Big One" aka Mr. Vigeland his bus driver.
* He loves riding his 4-wheeler on the trails by our house.
* He loves dressing himself and picking out his own clothes.  Yesterday when I went to pick him up after school he had on swim trunks and a long sleeve motorcycle t-shirt.
* He is learning to count and is really proud of himself.  It usually goes, "1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10".
* He had his first (shockingly enough) big bike crash the other day.  Let's just say we had to hose the sidewalk off because there was so much blood and he had some nice road rash on his face.  After the bleeding stopped he was begging to get back on his bike.
* He continues to be quite the clown.  He has a great personality and is pretty darn funny.
* He is somewhat potty trained.  Some days he tells me he wants to be on the potty train and goes to the bathroom all by himself.  Other days he just says he wants diapers like Ollie.  I'm happy with his independent method of potty training.
Ollie
* He has become quite the little fire ball. He knows what he wants and lets you know.
* He is starting to say a few words...papa, uh oh, and thank you.
* He loves to be outside and push his 4-wheeler around.  He insists on having his helmet on and then pushes his little 4-wheeler around the neighborhood.
* He is a rock star sleeper! He is like a teenager that loves to sleep.
* He is finally getting a few more teeth.  I'm going to start spending the denture fund.
* He loves motorcycles and cars and makes the most incredible driving noises.
* He loves playing in our backyard...especially throwing rocks in the pond.

Emily & Andrew
* Andrew has been super busy with work which is great, but exhausting for him!
* We recently made the trek to Wenatchee, Washington (about 2.5 hours away) to go visit the new CafĂ© Rio that opened.  Totally worth the drive!
* I just found out I will be teaching 1st grade part time next year.  I'm really excited about the change.  I'm going to be job sharing with a friend of mine who is having a baby any day!
* We went to the LWSD warehouse auction a few weekends ago and are now proud owners of 2 nacho cheese machines, a drink machine, pretzel warmer, preschool chairs, puppet station, commercial carpet cleaner, 4 commercial cutting boards, and a commercial laminator.  We just couldn't help ourselves.
