Hey Family!

So I think we should go to some place like this for our next family reunion. It's in Strawberry. We could all pitch in for the rental fee. What do you think??

Ducks!

Every once in awhile we get stray ducks from the nearby park. When we were all hanging outside this weekend Grant was having so much fun with them. He followed them around the whole neighborhood. He tried to catch up to them but could never get there.

Mitchell's Birthday

Mitchell's birthday was on Saturday. Before Papa and Mimi left for Hawaii they took him out for dinner and to go shopping for his gift on Thursday night. He had a lot of fun having his "special time" with them.

On Saturday morning Mitchell was so excited for his party. He had his party at FunWorks and invited a few friends from school.

(Side vent: Why can't parents RSVP to parties? I ended up inviting more church friends at the last minute cause only one school parent RSVP'ed and I was worried that no one was going to come. But then they all showed up and I had a lot more boys there then I really was planning on paying for. GRrrrrr)

They had a blast. They played Lazer Tag and did the rock climbing wall. It was fun!

Then we took Mitchell to go pick out a bike. We found a really nice bike with lots of cool features that was on major clearance. I think Matt had more fun with Mitchell's bike then Mitch did.
Happy Birthday Mitchell!!!

12 month check up

I took Grant in today to the doctor. It was his 12 month check up. Everything looks great and the Dr said that although his black eye looks horrible there is nothing to do about it.
He was 21 pounds 9 oz. And he was 29.5 inches long. His head circumference was 18 3/4.

*SIGH*

Update: here is a photo of Grant today.

Well as you can see Grant once again got hurt. He was walking in my bedroom and tripped and hit his eye on my bed frame at the end of my bed. Poor guy. The photos are not showing how bad it is. The whole area is still swollen and purple. I am starting to wonder if I need him to wear a helmet all the time.

Busy, busy BUSY!

Man we are so busy lately. We have something going on every night!
Between me being YW president (and all the activities and meetings that comes with), Matt being a scout leader, Matt's softball games, Paige's softball (3x a week), achievement days, my book club, birthday parties, dentist appointments, and on and on...... we never have a night just to sit and chil or even eat dinner all together. I know it is only going to get worse too as our kids get older and more involved. I don't know how moms with 6+ kids do it.

Grants Birthday

We had a great day yesterday. Matt was able to go to the temple for Chelsea's wedding and see a bunch of family that he hasn't seen in a really long time.

Here are a few photos of Grant's Party. We all had a lot of fun! Grant's in his diaper because we had the reception to go to and I didn't want him to get his new cute outfit dirty from playing in the cake!

Happy Birthday Grant!

Yesterday morning when Grant woke up I held him for a long time. I was being sappy and thinking about how it was going to be the last day that I got to hold any of my babies before they turned one. He was kind enough to cuddle with me for a bit while I soaked it all in. I can't believe that he is a year old today. It seemed to go so fast that it was a blur. He is such a joy and blessing in our life and I am so thankful that he is ours. I will post birthday photos tomorrow.

Goofy Paige

Paige is in love with making videos of herself with the webcam. She has made millions of them. I wanted to put this one up though because it shows the phase that Harrison is going through. Right now he is into copying EVERYTHING Paige and Mitchell say. Sometimes they think it is fun like in this video. But a lot of times they get annoyed and tell him to stop copying them. Harry just wants to do everything they do....poor guy.

Craft Time

I have been trying to come up with things to do with Harry because he gets so bored with Mitch and Paige gone at school all day. Today we did Art with beans. He had a blast and didn't want to quit and I ended up with MANY creations.

Anyone else have any fun cheap ideas
we could copy?

Grant in the bath

One of the things that I love about my new kitchen is how deep the sink is. I love to give baths to Grant in there cause it is so easy and fast.

Dessert Pizza

I made this last night and the kids really loved it and loved to help make it. It is super easy too. I know that there are lots of different recipes out there but I have found this one is the easiest yet still the yummiest! (I like this recipe because I love cream cheese).

Dessert Pizza

Here's what you will need to make it:
sugar cookie dough, store bought or homemade
8-ounce package cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
fruit slices like banana, strawberries, apples and blueberries

Here's what you have to do:
Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Slice up the dough like you're making cookies.
Then, on a greased cookie sheet or pizza pan, press the dough out into a large thin circle. This is your pizza crust.
Bake it for about 8 minutes. Once it's done put it on a rack to cool.
Instead of using tomato sauce, for Dessert Pizza, you mix together the sugar, vanilla, and softened cream cheese until it is smooth.
Using a rubber spatula, spread the cream cheese mixture over the crust.
Now, put the fruit on top in any design that you want. The fruit is your pizza topping!

Loved this post!

Check this out. It is great!

Temple Day

I took Paige and Mitchell to the Temple today. It was our ward Temple day. The kids got to play with their friends, go on a tour of the temple grounds and visitors center and I was able to get some temple work done. Then we all got together and had lunch. We were able to do the temple work of many family members for a guy in our ward who has just started on his genealogy. It was a great day!

kitchen pt. 5

Matt laid down the granite and put up the backsplash. We still have lots of little things to do, but now at least it feels like a kitchen. Matt has done such a great job!

Softball

Paige has her first softball practice tonight. She is very excited. She is playing "real" softball this year, under the lights, with full uniforms and keeping score. She has told Matt (he is her coach) many times this year that she wants to be the pitcher. Well today I found out why. She said she didn't want to be an outfielder because no one looks at you. She wants to be a pitcher or a catcher cause everyone watches you and you get to have everyone pay attention to you.

Who is this kid? She is nothing like me, especially when I was 9.

Mitchell has an appt

I took Mitch to meet with the ENT today and he agreed that Mitchell needs another set of tubes and to have his adenoids removed. I am really happy about this because I have notice some hearing loss in Mitch recently and am just tired of him having to take antibiotics. He has a pre-op appt on May 12th with the anesthesiologist and if we get the go ahead then his surgery will be on the 14th. Unlike his other tube surgeries (which took about 10 minutes) they said that this time he will be under anesthesia for 30-45 minutes because of removing the adenoids. I know that is still no big deal but it is still hard for any Mom to think of their child going under anesthesia. I am still looking forward to it though because I know it is what Mitchell needs to get better.

Grant Walking

Here is a quick video of Grant walking. It is so fun to see him toddle around.

Grant

Grant got his 7th tooth today. I am not surprised because he has been drooling again like crazy and being very grumpy. It is his bottom left side.

Fun with Tommy

The kids have been having so much fun with their cousins here this weekend.
We went to Boomers today with Mimi, Papa, Travis and Tommy. The kids had a blast. We played miniature golf, did the batting cages and arcades and the kids drove the race cars.
I think the adults had more fun than the kids as we were cheering our kids on as they drove around the track.
Tommy was all business and easily lapped everyone winning it all. Paige drove fast but she was more interested in smiling and waving for the camera and showing off by trying to drive with no hands. Mitchell was slow and cautious and spent more time checking out all the parts of the race car than trying to win. He did pass up two others drivers toward the end so that he wouldn't come into last place though.

Mimi got some great photos of today and I hope she posts them.

Don't laugh at me.

7X7 = ???
I don't know my multiplication chart. Well I know all the lower numbers and the easy ones like 10's and 11's. But if you asked me what 8 X 7 is I would have to count. Embarrassing right? (And yes, I graduated from BYU). I just never memorized them. I am horrible when it comes to memorization and so I have just always counted up or down.

Well Paige is working on memorizing all her multiplications and so I have committed to memorize them with her. I figure I better get this over with now because I have many years to come of homework involving multiplying. Wish us luck!
