Bummer!

Well we didn't get the keys today for our new house. In fact the other bank hasn't turned in their paper work so the house hasn't been funded or recorded yet. It looks like the earliest we could get them would be Tuesday???

*SIGH*

Opening Night

Tonight was the opening night for Paige's play. She did such a great job! She sang her song perfectly, did great on her lines and looked beautiful up there. She had such a blast and is still on cloud nine. I am trying to get her to calm down and go to bed, but it's not looking so good. She keeps saying that she is so excited to do it again tomorrow night. I will post photos later.

Parent Teacher Conference

Today I had PTCs for both Paige and Mitchell. It is always reassuring when you get good feedback from your kids teachers.

Mitchell's teacher is a little, old, sweet lady. I was unsure about her at first but now I really like her. She seemed to really know Mitchell and his strengths and weaknesses. She loved Mitchell's enthusiasm for learning especially math. She said her favorite thing is to watch Mitchell learn a new concept in math because he gets so excited and can't wait to explain it to others. Mitchell really does love math (go figure??). She said Mitchell is everyones friend and always kind. She said his feelings have been hurt a couple of times and she could tell he has a sensitive heart but she said she has never seen him pout in class so I was VERY happy about that. He really is growing up and I am so proud of him.

Paige's teacher is great. She has set up all these class council meetings that the kids have where they create different committees and resolve problems in the class which is right up Paige's ally. She said Paige is very creative and fun and that she comes up with a lot of great ideas for the classroom and that she works great with all the other kids. She said she is a great writer and writes a lot of fun stories. Paige still has the highest number of reading points in her class. She said she does needs to work on her organizational skills and keep a neater desk (I do know where she gets that from...oopps). She said that she has really enjoyed having Paige in her class. I am so proud of her and all that she has accomplished this year.

Way to go kids!

Santa is not a millionaire

So this stupid dinosaur has been ALL over the commercials on the kids TV stations lately. Of course every time the commercial comes on my kids start jumping up and down, pointing to the TV, screaming: We want that from Santa for Christmas!

The catch? He costs $349.00! I am not kidding. When I told Mitchell how much it was he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well Santa is going to bring it to me!"
Why oh why does Nickelodeon feel the need to promote these type of toys on their TV non-stop? And what kind of parent buys a dinosaur for 349 dollars? If you don't believe me here is the Link (Sorry to anyone out there that was planning on buying this for their kid...but your crazy if you do)

And if that is not enough they also have this commercial on a lot for this dinosaur. But good news: He is only 240 dollars!

ETA: Okay, so Matt called me and told me that the DRex toy has now come down in price and is only 130 dollars! Maybe they read my blog and realized how crazy that was?!?

Counting DOWN!

7 more days until Paige's play opens (Which means practice almost every night until then).

8 more days until we sign on our new house (fingers crossed).

9 more days until me move!

11 more days until Travis comes to visit!

12 more days until we go to UTAH!

13 more days until TWILIGHT!

15 more days until Black Friday.

43 more days until Christmas.

I am really looking forward to everything that is coming up but at the same time I am pulling my hair out trying to get everything ready in time.

Twilight Tickets

It's almost time Girls!!! Mom, (Dad?) Suzanne, Hilary. I think we should buy our tickets early. We need to decide what theater we want to go to on Wednesday night and what time. What do you guys think?
Hilary....what do you think?

Life is good!

~ It's Friday!

~ Today was 72 degrees! I played outside for a long time with the kids enjoying the sunshine.
~ I paid 2.15 in gas today. 2.15! It was only 7 months ago I was paying 4.49.

~ Interest rates have come down a whole point in the last couple of days. We locked in at 6 percent! (Actually this happened yesterday, but I was still feeling happy about it today)

~ My kids are happy and healthy and playing together nicely in the family room with no TV on. There is nothing better than that!

Harry's nose

So Harry shoved something up his nose, AGAIN! This is the third time in the last month. Usually I can get it out quickly and it's no big deal. Well last night he came to me and said he had an eyeball stuck in his nose. Sure enough he had a googly eye stuck up there. It was so slippery that every time I tried to get it out it just slipped further back up into his nose. I was getting frustrated and was about to take him to the ER because I didn't want it to get so far back there that it would cause a huge problem.

But then like a light bulb going off I remembered a friend's blog where she wrote about this trick that worked for her so I tried it.
I covered the one nostril that was fine with my thumb and then blew really hard in his mouth (kind of like giving CPR) and out popped the googly eye and a bunch of snot! It totally worked! So for all you moms out there: file this information away in the back of your brain because it might come in handy some day.

VOTE

I am so glad Nov. 4th is here and we finally get to vote!!!

Harry couldn't understand why we couldn't just call in and vote. I guess he thought it should be like American Idol. When we got there he asked where he was. I was confused so I asked him who he was talking about. He said, "McCain, where is he? I wanted to vote for him!" Poor guy was not impressed with the whole voting process.
I am so glad we live in a country where we get to vote and let our voices be heard. God Bless America!

Mommy Brag pt 2

Paige had a great week. She is still so excited about her solo. Then on Friday she came home and showed me a 20 dollar gift certificate she won because she won 1st place in an essay contest. It was an essay about what her dreams are in life. The essay wasn't something that was required but she took the initiative and wrote it by herself. I am so proud of her.
