Sisters...

Emily and Savannah...sisters and friends.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Texas, the sun was shinning and the weather was right for a day at the park. We decided to do lunch, play on the toys, and of course feed the ducks. (Don't worry dad, we remembered the sunscreen.) It was just the right way to spend the afternoon. Brother had a soccer game in Amarillo, so he missed out on all of the fun. So it became a girls day at the park.
Savannah tried the slide once, and she was done.

Savannah was way excited to feed the ducks. She carried the bread from the car and wanted to carry the bread again after she ate her lunch. She didn't even care to play on the toys...she just wanted to feed the ducks. To my surprise Emily seemed to enjoy feeding the ducks more than Savannah (she got distracted eating Emily's apple). I never thought it could be so easy to entertain a teenager. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough bread. (I thought I brought plenty.) Savannah did throw a few pieces in the water (when sister remembered to share.) She did enjoy watching the ducks play below.
Feeding of the ducks...and the view down below.

After we feed the ducks, it was off to play. Sister once again had to swing on the swings. (Savannah doesn't like them yet.) She does enjoy walking around and exploring at this park. It turned out to be a great day. (One that I thought was planned more for Savannah, but turned into pure joy for Emily.) It was fun to watch sisters playing together and having fun outside.
Emily had to try the swing...Savannah said no way.

Snow day!!!

Snow in Texas again, can you believe it?

Savannah was just given a pair of snow pants last week. She put them on and was ready to play in the snow. On the way home she was in tears as I tried to explain to her that there wasn't any snow and she would have to wait..."wait" is all she could say.
Angel loves being outside in the snow.
We woke up this morning to school being canceled and snow outside, all Savannah wanted to do was "change" saying "snow", "wait", "later"....silly mom thought we would have to wait until we were in Colorado next year for snow. She didn't even want to eat breakfast.
Do I look warm mommy?
(She stayed outside for at least 30 minutes)
Brother and sister were just as excited, they all got dressed and took Savannah and Angel out to play. What a great day to not have school...

Look what we built!
After helping build a snowman, we topped the morning off with biscuits and gravy and yummy Stephen's hot chocolate.
Can you see his nose?
(Emily spent forever perfecting it)

Sunday morning...

My Girly Girl, Savannah!

Sunday morning we were getting ready for church, one of Savannah's favorite activities. She especially loves picking out her dress. After showing her every dress in the closet, this is the one that she picked out.
She walked around the house saying pretty...twirling her dress and playing with the lace. This is not a dress mom would have picked out. (It's a little too girly for mom) It was a gift sent from her Grandmere on her first birthday, yes that was almost a year ago...see picture below.

Differences...she is walking now (she wasn't a year ago), talking and her hair is just a little bit longer

Happy Valentine's Day...

For Valentines day, we have have a special family dinner with sparkling cider and we all get gifts. This is a tradition that was started when Polly joined the family. Valentines day is about telling those who are close to you that you love them, not just your significant other. The kids always look forward to this dinner and of course the gifts.
Emily loves her face in this one!
Dad even remembered to send everyone cards and he provided the beautiful flowers for the centerpiece. Polly also got a bear from Eric that was quickly taken over by Savannah, until she saw her bag of candy. Then there was no stopping her.

It was lots of fun and a tradition we look forward to every year.

A bag to keep your soccer balls in...what better way to say I love U!

Don't make me cry dad...thanks for the card!

Happy Birthday Emily....

Happy Birthday Emily!

Fourteen...does that seem right...how do they keep growing up so fast. Emily was more than thrilled that her big day was here so Polly could stop saying she was thirteen. (14 is just two years closer to driving...and yes she is counting down the days.)
They day was filled with school (a must even on the big day), and a trip to the mall to buy what ever she wanted, until Polly said stop. Yes, we went shopping, Polly's least favorite activity, but what more could a teenage girl want. Emily, having gone shopping too often with Polly, hit every clearance rack at every store imaginable. Being a wise and prudent shopper, she was able to geta pair of shorts and a shirt from AE, jewelry from icing & claires, and a jacket at maurices. It was fun but when all was said and done we were ready to eat.

Off we went to Emily's favorite, okay she really doesn't have a favorite, restaurant Chili's. (The last time we ate there was a year ago for her birthday, we don't get out much.) She was surprised at dinner with gifts from the Stratton's, which included a huge cookie.

Somehow Polly was able to sneak the rest of her presents in the restaurant with out her noticing. As she unwrapped them the waitress noticed it was her birthday and brought the crew over to sing her birthday wishes. (Surprised once again...not that surprising Emily is at all hard to do.) The day turned out well...she really enjoyed her presents, even though she didn't ask for anything at all.

(Alex wasn't able to be there, he had a soccer game in Midland.)
