The Valley

In the valley on a quick weekend for the celebration of this lovely union.

Highlights so far:

  • A row all to myself on the flight
  • Walking to baggage claim and my bags were already out - I'm convinced that is a sign of a great trip ahead
  • G-Betty made me my favorite homemade eclairs confirming my #1 spot as her favorite grandchild (sorry cousins)
  • Time with the DamWhiAnke's (Damron-White-Janke's)
  • Karen's welcome bowl of my favorite treats in my bedroom confirming my #1 spot as her favorite in-law (sorry Mick & Meghan)
  • Refill on my Wish lotion - my arms and hands love me again (Thank you!)
  • Interrogating Meeting friend's new boyfriends
  • Being with kids who I once knew as babies turn into little people who carry on intelligent conversations in green high-tops
  • Sex chat, my favorite kind of chat, with the newest non-virgin bride ;)
  • Reflecting with my newest married friend about the feeling of becoming a "we" - I agree it is crazy the difference of commitment once the ritual is experienced. Marriage looks great on her.
  • Fiddler's Roof company (people overhearing our conversation must of thought we were nuts)
  • Getting personal talks with Amy in the flesh rather than just via blogs.
  • Quality time with Jos & Craig - they are a cool couple
  • Brianne is a great mom
  • Dreams of saying goodbye to my thousands of grays tomorrow. Isn't getting your hair done the one of the greatest luxuries of life?
  • Cafe Rio Salad on the menu for tomorrow.
Oh Utah, how I love to visit you.

Wonder Bread

Wonder where I've been? Me too. {sigh}

I'm in a little post-graduation transitional funk and slowly getting centered settled. I've heard people feel like this after a marathon. I wouldn't know about marathons but grad school felt like a really long emotional marathon so I guess it is appropriate to be a bit out of sorts with myself. My energy is in a lot of different places and sadly, my creativity seems to be on the bottom of my to-do list. Hence, my creative outlet gets zapped.

Hello blog. I've missed you.

The fall brings many events to look forward to. A business trip to NY with 9th row seats to this show (my boss is too good to me), a family wedding, and a new residence among other things.

All this back-to-school talk has got me thinking. Isn't the change of seasons wonderful? I'm not sure I would do well in a climate that didn't express the change. Life cycles. Reminds me that time does indeed pass for better or for worse.

Hold on tight. Here's comes the fall.

Be Still My Heart

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Guess what little treasure decided to show up in honor of our 3 year anniversary at this midnight hour as I was packing for the Heffernan reunion? Yes, your eyes are seeing right. MY FAVORITE NECKLACE OF ALL TIME THAT I THOUGHT I LOST FOREVER AND EVER LAST NOVEMBER. (Remember that brokenhearted post?)

Pure HAPPPPPIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNEEEESSSSS.

I was cleaning out my computer bag to create more room for my packing and after I had emptied all the remains of my graduate school experience (you know - blow pops, melted mini snicker bar, a power surge cord - the important stuff) it still felt heavy for some reason. I started unzipping every possible zipper and I reach my hand in a totally obscure pocket and pulled out my "lost" pink jewelry travel bag that I thought I left in a dumb Denver hotel room. My heart skipped a beat. Were my eyes fooling me? Was it an illusion? Was I imagining something that could never be? NO. NO. NO. NO. NO I wasn't. It was really all my jewelry but most importantly there was my necklace. My necklace that represented so much of our beginnings. My own version of a Carrie necklace. After 9 months it found me again. It found me. {tear}.

I have no words.

I will go to sleep happy. Complete even.

It's the little things, my friends. It's the little things.

Grad school friends: Can you believe it was in my computer bag all those days? My hands were so close to it every Tuesday and Thursday. Ahhhh.... my necklace was right there with us. This is crazy talk.

Spread The Word.

Operation: Find Scott A Creative Job

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Hello friends. I have a new operation for all of you. Are you ready for the challenge?

Find my husband a job in the creative world.

He is really talented and I'm not just saying that because I am his wife a nice person. I really believe that he is a great employee and super talented in his ability to make things look beautiful. Loyal. Dedicated. Creative. Hardworking. Funny. Very chill. All the elements that make for someone that you would want to have on your business team. He is a artist by nature. It is in his blood. He does really well at other jobs (because that's just how he is) but I feel if there is a time to switch careers the time is now in our lives.

Please, please, please keep your ears open for anything that you might think would be a good fit. Graphic design, photography, or any creative-type job.

Please enjoy his video cover letter below. And for more of his design work please visit his design blog here.

(Thank you for letting me prostitute my husband on this blog!)
