Oh NO! You CAN fish in Winter!

The man in mukluks is Rick, if you can find him under all of the padding!
Rick has found a new sport, ice fishing! Lucky the extended family owns all of the ice rods, power augers, vexlars, ice houses, ect... that it takes to enjoy this sport. Kinda expen$ive!

Crack in the ice at Panguitch Lake. It creaked and moaned as they fished.

It's a hair thing...

Laura and I caught from behind. Rick loves long hair. Laura's hair is a lot like mine, but not so curly... and not so red.

Seth & Shannon

I caught Seth & Shannon in a sunny spot petting the cats after church in Utah.

Merry Christmas Service Project

This year we tried something new with Rick's family. Instead of drawing names to give gifts to cousins, we gave acts of service instead. Each family carried out their service project then wrote it up in a brief report and added a picture or few and made copies for the rest of the family. After our Christmas dinner all together, the kids took turns sharing what they did. We all put the reports into family binders to keep and remember. Part of me said, "No, service should be private and not flaunted." Another part wanted to share within our family circle the joy that service brings. It turned out to be a wonderful feeling as we shared and I think that a solid tradition has begun.
Above is a picture of Shannon, Laura and friend Sarah delivering a love note Christmas tree to our friend, Maren and her mom just before Maren went in for major surgery. We had families of our church write them notes and then we used the notes as ornaments. I really felt the spirit guiding us to do this, and that made the memory all the more special.

Pneumonia

I haven't been on here much because Laura has been sick for almost 3 weeks! She started spiking fevers the last couple of days and so I got her in to see the doc yesterday. She has pneumonia...sigh! It's been about 7 years since we've done this and it's all coming back how no-fun it is. Luckily, we are pretty much a hospital here as far as equipment goes and so they are letting her stay home to run the course of antibiotics and recoup. Laura, if you wanted a couple of extra days for your Thanksgiving vacation you could have just asked! Sheesh!! :)

Prop 8 Passes!

Pins and needles, too close for comfort, 52% to 48% but we made it! Hurrah for Zion! The battle will just continue on, already lawsuits are being filed, but the Lord has blessed this effort. Our bishop gave the benediction on Sunday and under the direction of the 12 Apostles bestowed a powerful priesthood blessing upon our ward, our city and our state for the powers of heaven to bless and help our efforts. The same blessing was given in every ward in California. It was a very neat experience.

...and I'm so glad the election is over!

Happy Haunting!

Caution! Student Driver! Laura's license plate says SPEEDY1. (Truer words were never written! :)

Meet Joan of Arc! Shannon found this chainmail looking material for her costume...and you can see we've made good use of cardboard, duct tape and a can of silver spray paint this year. Happy Haunting!
