8 months

I missed 7 months, oops, but heres the update on this little girl.

  • Bath time is still her most favorite part of the day. We hardly ever skip it regardless of time because she loves it so much and I feel bad not letting her splash around.
  • She is eating food like crazy. It depends on the day but we switch from baby puree to normal people food. She loves pretty much everything, especially salmon.
  • She's got 5 teeth now, the last one just broke through a couple days ago. Teething this go round was not pleasant.
  • Even through teething she still sleeps from 6pm-7am.
  • Heaven forbid she's late getting in bed. She loves her sleep. 2-3 naps a day are a must.
  • She says Mama, buh bye and baby and throws in screams or squeals for every other word or to get someones attention.
  • She loves people and smiles and wants the attention of just about everyone. Going to the store is always such a social event.
  • She loves books and will play on her own opening and touching all her books.
  • She loves the piano, and music in general. Singing in the car is a new thing too.
  • She think climbing the stairs is so funny, till she falls down them. I'm working on a baby gate.
  • She loves fake plants. Seriously will pull apart any fake plant in reach and shove it in her mouth.
  • She has a foot fetish. It's weird.
  • She's walking between the furniture and anything else she can use and has started letting go of whatever she's holding onto when she's standing. She falls after a couple seconds, but I think this little girl is going to be an early walker.
  • She loves my phone, keys and the tv remotes. If we can't find a remote, its a good chance she's put it somewhere.
  • Spitting up has pretty much ended! Finally. It may happen twice a week now and it's hardly anything. I never thought it would happen, but burp cloths are not a necessity anymore.
  •  She's not a huge fan of anything that contains her like her jumper or bouncer, she'd rather be messing with everything in the house. She knows that if she pretends she's pooping I'll take her out of whatever she's in and put her on the floor, and she is the biggest faker!
  • She loves going on walks in the stroller. Its pretty much an everyday thing now.
  • Her hair is getting so long in the back and is starting to curl.
  • She loves dogs! Can't say I'm a huge fan of them licking her face, but she thinks it's hilarious.
  • She's evening out length wise finally. She can still fit a 6 month onesie and we're up to 9 month pants. Maybe she won't tower over me after all.
She is still the happiest easiest baby I have ever known. Every one always tells me how lucky I am, and believe me I know it. She's definitely stubborn and irrational sometimes, mostly when she's tired. We already have screaming/yelling fights. Don't judge. It's hard to ever discipline her because she makes the cutest faces, it's hard not to just laugh. We're working on that part.
I love that she's not a little baby anymore, more like a tiny person. Sometimes I miss her falling asleep on me or not being mobile, but we have so much fun during the day and anywhere we go it's hard to miss those things too much. Its hard for me to believe she'll be 1 soon. I'm not sure I'm ready for that, or the walking... hopefully she cools her jets on that one.

We're going on a cruise in April with Lindsay and her kids and my mom. Brynnley has gotten so many new clothes and swim suits, it's a little ridiculous and I don't even have drawer space for it all. We are excited, and I am nervous. But we'll see how things go.

Catching up

I am a little behind on Brynnley's month pictures. Though it's not like I don't upload a million to Facebook and instagram daily, but I don't always include her newest abilities which I think is the best part!

5 months was spent at my sister's house in South Carolina with my niece and nephew. They absolutely adored Brynnley and I would be lying if I said she didn't throughly enjoy every bit of attention she got from them. Adjusting to coming home where it's usually just me or grammy at home was...interesting. Anyways our trip there was fabulous. It was just before Christmas so we got to see Christmas lights, listen to Christmas music, watch Christmas movies, drink way too much hot chocolate. All the things that make Christmas the most wonderful time of the year. It was also refreshing to have some cooler weather since Florida has been, as always, unseasonal.

While we were there Brynnley was trying to figure out the crawling thing. She had been up on her hands and knees rocking back and forth since she was about 4.5 months so naturally we thought it would happen anytime. Well...not so much. Though she did sit up by herself unsupported for the first time while we were there. The kids had so much fun just watching her and encouraging her to crawl and I have to say I don't think she cried once while we were there.

Christmas passed without any incident. Since it was her first Christmas it was fun, but I cannot wait for next year when she'll be 18 months and really be able to enjoy presents and the entire holiday spirit. And the food. She has been food obsessed since she was 4 months old and doesn't completely understand why she has to eat baby much while I get normal food. In time baby girl.

So the 6 month update

  • crawling, sitting and pulling herself up on things is an every day activity, and no big deal...to her.
  • I have lost her around the house more than once in the past 2 days alone
  • bath time is her absolute favorite time of the day. She will play and splash until she's don't, then she'll try to climb out.
  • she usually sleeps 6pm-6:30am and takes 3 naps a day...I'm so lucky I know
  • she still only has those 2 teether she's had since she was 4 months, but she is cutting teeth now and is still the sweetest thing
  • she has found her whining voice.....can't say I'm a fan
  • she loves that she gets to actually sit in a shopping cart now and flits and talks to anyone who will pay her any attention (which is usually everyone)
  • she devours food and prefers it to her bottles...we're trying to work on that
  • anything and everything goes into her mouth
  • she knows her name and responds to it
  • she knows what "no" means and listens to it...for about 5 seconds then tries to do the same thing again...it's a process
  • she cries when she really wants something and I tell her no...such a drama queen
  • she is obsessed with mirrors
  • anytime I come back into a room she crawls over to me and all over me. I must admit...I love it
  • she loves her books and my kind of music. She has no patience for baby lullabies or slow songs
  • her favorite song is "Let he go" by The Passenger. If she's upset for any reason and I play it, she calms right down and listens.
  • she loves when I play the piano for her
  • she is still the happiest baby I have ever known!
Pretty much obsessed with this little one. She makes and laugh and smile every single day.

My update:
  • School has started again. I'm taking 2 5-week classes the first half of the semester then I'll take two more the last half. I love the short schedule, keeps my from getting burnt out. It has been a little more difficult since I don't have as much free time with Brynnley getting into everything now so I mostly do homework at night.
  • I have been determined to eat healthy and exercise everyday and I officially weigh less than I did when I got pregnant. Could I be happier? Probably not
  • Aside from school and Brynnley I attempt to have a social life. Some days its going well,  other days I don't want to see a single person, I'm such a ray of sunshine on those days.
  • I've gone back to playing the piano, its definitely one of those things I do when I need to decompress, the fact that Brynnley loves it and keeps her happy is just a huge plus!
  • Year markers are coming up in the next month or so and it's made me reflect on last year. Out of the three huge things that happened last year, I can honestly say only one of them makes me sad. February 4th it'll be a year that my dad died. It does not seem like that much time has passed. But I think our family handled it well and we are all doing much better.
  • I am so excited for this year. I love the age that Brynnley is and I think i'll love each stage from here on just as much or more as she gets bigger and able to do more things with me. I really can't believe she is 6.5 months and before I know it she'll be a year old.

Warning: photo overload
