Self feeding

Ava first attempt at self feeding. This is one of Ava's big troubles, swallowing anything that doesn't have a smooth texture. So here is a start.

Field trip to Ferdinands

Noah's preschool class went to Ferdinands icecream over in Pullman for a field trip. Ava and I went to and we had a great time. We watched the workers make cheese, we tasted cheese curds, and had delicious icecream. We also celebrated Noah's bday. Noah LOVED his icecream. He was the messiest kid when they were all done.

Developmental pediatrician

We went up to Spokane today for a visit with the developmental pediatrician. After she assessed Ava and asked a billion questions, she determined that developmentally Ava is equivalent to that of a 6 month old. She ordered a bunch of labs, genetic testing, and a head CT (just to make sure everything is normal). We are going to start PT and OT, so that Ava can get caught up to other kids her age. The next appt is in May, so hopefully we will have some answers by then.

Developmental eval

Ava had an evaluation with a developmental therapist. We found out that Ava's delayed areas are in gross motor (which we already knew) and also in adaptive areas (self care like feeding). On the up side she was right on with her cognitive and social areas. We will see a dr next week who works with kids who have delays. I will update on this at that time.

11 months old

Ava is 11 months old today, she weighs 17 lbs 3 oz (10th percentile) and 27 1/4 inches long (15th percentile). She is growing. YAY! Ava isn't crawling, but is starting to at least rock and will stay on her knees for longer than 10 seconds, before she rolls over. She likes to stand while holding on to someones hands, but isn't taking steps yet. Ava moves by scooting on her back or rolling. Ava likes her 24 calorie milk and some fruits and even less vegetables. I have been attempting to teach Ava the sign for "all done," but she prefers spitting her food at me when she has had enough. Totally gross! She loves blowing raspberries and bubbles. Ava got her first tooth on March 11th. It is the right middle one on the bottom. I randomly stuck my finger on her gums, because I do that regularly to check for teeth and was quite surprised when I felt it. I hope they are all that easy!

Update

I finally got the blog updated for the last month and a half. I have been busy making hairbows during nap time, and spending time on the computer hasn't sounded applealing to me. I have been considering starting an etsy shop, because Ava has too many bows as it is, and for some reason I can't stop making them. Enjoy! I will let you know when the shop opens. There are some really cute bows!

New sweater

Yesterday Ava had an evaluation with the physical therapist with the Infant Toddler Program, Ava scored low enough that she qualifies for services with the program. Since Ava is not making any attempts to crawl, we are starting to stronging encourage her to start. We frequently put her in all fours and she almost always rolls out of it. She will eventually get there. The beautiful purple sweater was made by Ava's aunty Corey.
