nature walk in the park

I now interrupt this Trip to Texas to post about a trip to the park. (Mostly because I am behind in trying to get the pictures edited.)

Whenever we go to the park Naomi really does not like to play on the playground. She has always been like this. When she was younger Adam and I would have to coax her to the playground toys. Once there she didn't play much. She would run around a little but she was much more content away from the playground equipment. She enjoyed watching anything or anyone. She is very observant.

Once I figured out it was her personality. I decided to just go with it. God made her in a special way. So I decided to start using her love of watching to start teaching her. One thing I make sure to do is to go to the park near by. It has a large "lake" in the middle of it. So there is some "wild life" around. Mostly ducks, geese, and turtles.

We go the the park at least twice a week (usually more). Here is a recent visit...

First we have the "babies." Anytime we are any where near the park Naomi yells "babies" from the backseat. There are 3 sets of babies at the park. The first thing we do once reaching the park is find all sets of babies.

Then we have the turtles...

There is also the duck (I have not gotten a picture yet). Last fall there were a lot more ducks. Not there is just one or two.

There are many other things to see at the park. So I am sure that I will more to post about later!

Texas (pt 2)

OK

This was how Oklahoma greeted me...

a partly sunny sky! My ideal driving conditions!

And...

Road Construction. Not so much for ideal driving conditions.

Most of Oklahoma seemed like it was under construction. I think the most anoying parts was the "ghost construction." (at least that is what I call it).

You know when they warn you
Construction ahead
Fines double in work zones
They slow you down to 55 or 60.

You drive, expecting construction to pop up any moment.

And there are no signs of construction.

Maybe an orange cone or two.

Then after driving for 10ish miles there is the "end construction" sign.

Ummm, What construction?

At least Naomi had a good time. I decided we would eat in the car to ensure any moment we spent out of the car she could spend running around.

We made a stop in Saginaw, TX for the night. We have some friends from newton who recently moved there. They were awesome enough to take in Naomi and me for the evening. We were even treated to a school play.

It was about bugs. It was adorable! And Naomi LOVED it! The boy in green is the youngest son who was in the play. He was an Army Ant. He did a great job! And he was quite the ham.

The same evening this young lady was inducted into the junior Honor Society! Way to go!

And I had to take a picture of the middle son. He got to stay at home.

I was quite blessed to be able to stay with these friends. thanks meg for giving up your room and bed for me. We are very appreciative!

The next morning I hit the road again. sadly I got lost in down town Fort Worth and then ended up driving 15-20 miles in the wrong direction. But finally...

two stops, a McDonald's later, and 5 hours later (it was only supposed to take me 3)

I reached my destination...
Huntsville, TX

Home of the Sam Huston Bobcats!

I met up with my family, we checked in to the hotel and then we vegged. while Naomi trashed explored the room.

(Stay tuned! Part 3 is on the way!)

Texas trip (part one)

To let you in on a secret the previous post occurred in Texas at my parents house.

I took a trip.

Naomi came with me too.

But Adam stayed at home.

Yep, I drove 16 hours by myself to Texas.

Why? you might ask...

Well my sister graduated from Sam Houston State.  I wanted to be there for the occasion.

So I packed up the car and went.

So,,, Here is my trip...

It all started at 7 am in the rain.  I don't like driving in the rain.  (But I guess It was better than the blaring sun.)

(Please note I just held the camera up to shoot the pictures in the car.)

Naomi did a great job of entertaining herself...

Untill she was so board she fell asleep (right about the time I had planed on stopping.)

Well, My computer does not seem to want to cooperate right now.  So I will have to continue later.  Till next time!

Frog

We had an adventure.  My mom called me out of the house while I was unloading the car.  I find my mom, daughter, and sister standing in the grass.  "Come catch this frog for Naomi." So I grabed it.

Put it into a jar.
Grandma has just given Naomi a book with a frog in it.  So we got the book out and showed her the jumping frog in the book and looked at the frog in the jar.

Then it was time for the frog to go home to his mommy and daddy.  So we let the frog go in yard.  This morning we went outside and she looked for the frog.

Mothers day blessings

A little over 2 years I be came a mom! I was an amazing thing. I am still amazed that I am a mom. I now see my own mom in a whole new light.

t seemed like a long time before I could celebrate mother's day. I so badly wanted to be a mom. I really struggled with it. I would sit in church as the pastor talked about moms and such and just wanted to be one. I longed to be a mom. I knew God had called me to be a mother. But why the wait? There were times it was excurciating for me.
I know my wait was not a long as some. I have a friend who has been waiting for number one for just over 2 years now. I only waited for 18 months.  It was worth to to wait for my blessing. Naomi is amazing! She is a lovely little girl who brought a whole new meaning to my life and my faith.

My mentor mom in MOPS had to wait on her babies too. She reminded me of this: God has His perfect timing. He needs the right person at the right time. I have no idea what things Naomi will do but God made me wait so that his "plan" will work. Wow!

I am truly blessed!

Cake!

I made this cake a while ago. I think it trrned out pretty well given the "description" I received.

Me: So what do you want on this baby shower cake?
Friend: A giant flower to go with the decorations. The baby is a boy. So I guess, make it boyish.
ME: Ok... I will see what I can do.

So after spending 20-30 minutes in Hobby Lobby.  I thought I had a good idea.  I purchased some scrap-booking brads that went with the color scheme of the decorations yet were "boyish" to use for the middle of the flower.

I arranged the brads on the blue and white iced surface and set to work making pedals.  About half way through the flower was not looking good.  I decided to try to finish the pedals.  I did and I was not happy.  Then I took out the brads and then filled in the center.  I then added all of the finishing touches...
