couch 2 5K

So, I think I posted last spring about trying to train for a 5K.  Well after my knees gave up in the spring I decided that I should give it another go.  I was able to get a high school friend to join me. I have not officially graduated!
On October 16 I ran my first 5K!

I ran it in 34:49! Not to bad. I still don't know what I placed but I do know I trained with the 3place runner in my age range.  I am not a speedy runner, my knee will not allow it.  Yes I plan on continuing to run even though I have "graduated" from the couch to 5K program.  I am not going to go crazy like one of my friends who did the program who is now training for a half marathon not 6 months after running her first 5k.   But I do think I will continue running.

I must say I enjoyed the program a lot. It starts you out slow and eases your body into being able to run distances.  I used to say I ran like a rock.  Now I actually kind of enjoy running.

And I can't forget to thank my cheerleaders. besides my handsome husband and adorable daughter, one of my friends even made it out to see me run!  And she brought her oldest daughter.  Thanks guys!  It really gave me the added boost at the end!

season change 2

Why is this season change so meaningful?

Well our family will soon be undergoing some change.  We will be moving!

Adam has finally received a job after 14 months of applying!  We are very excited about his new job.  We see potential for ministry as well.  However we will not be diving in to that too fast (unless God tells us otherwise).  We will be again moving to a small town in rural Kansas.  It is a town in the Flint Hills.  Personally Adam and I think that the area is one of the most beautiful parts of Kansas! Adam is excited because it is prime motorcycle country.  We will also be closer to family.

Our big move will be taking place on October 30th.  So I guess Naomi gets to Trick or treat in our new town.   This way we have an excuse to meet the neighbors.

So how about that for a "season" change?

Looks like my country girl got her wish.

season change

The seasons are changing...

Can you sense it? I can.

We have switched from sandals to socks and shoes (Although I still try to get away with my trusty flip-flops from time to time.)

The jackets have come out from their summer slumber.

There is a touch of chill in the air.  The leaves are slowly starting to change.

I love it!

Want to know he best part about this season change?

You will just have to find our later. On my next post. (This way I make sure to make a post)  I have been lacking lately!
