Snow Fun
Yesterday we woke up to a ton of snow. And it was around 25 degrees! Which compared to the last few weeks of negative temps and wind chills of -35, 25 was pretty warm. We got around 7-8 inches. You can see it best on the picture I took of our table on the deck. This is the most snow we've gotten all winter.
So since it was so nice we headed outside to play (and shovel the driveway for me). The kids had so much fun. The snow was so soft and fluffy and it was warm enough for them to play for a while. That hardly every happens around here.
So we jumped in it
And sat in it
And ate it of course. I think that's my kids favorite thing to do, crazy!
And lay in it.
And just had tons of fun.
The dogs were out with us for a while, but then I found them both shivering at the door wanting to in. Poor short haired dogs, plus it doesn't help to have two kids dumping snow on them too!

Family Pictures
Back in October we were able to get some family pictures taken by a friend of Mark's co-worker. She's a photographer in Minneapolis but comes up here to take pics every now and then. We love them and think she did a great job, especially considering that Saige was so not into this at all. So here are my favorites, including some of just the kids.

Merry Christmas!
Our card this year. I sent them out but it was a little late, so they probably wont get to anyone until tomorrow or the next day. And I wasn't able to send a card to everyone, so sorry. :( So consider this your virtual card. We love all of you our family and friends, Merry Christmas.
(sorry for the poor quality, I scanned it in and it looks grainy now)

Santa
This years pictures with Santa:
I really thought that I wouldn't get a Santa picture this year, but some how my kids were convinced to go near him. I'm pretty sure it was the cookies. They'll do anything for a sweet treat. Also they had two little red chairs that they let my kids sit in, since neither one of them would get on his lap. Perfect. Also this year instead of the mall or some place like that, we went to this local coffee shop called The Cabin. So after this picture we were going to leave, then Colby kept saying he wanted to go back. I told him that he couldn't and we had to go. Then he said, but I need to tell Santa what I want for Christmas. So the nice photographer let us run back up there and Colby stands there looking at the ground. Finally he whispers "Yellow Bakugan", So I repeat that to Santa and Colby runs down happy as can be. Silly kid. This is really the one thing he always says he wants from Santa. (it's a little transformer like toy, he got one at McDonald's once and got obsessed over them.) Lets hope Santa brings him one. :)
Oh and this is Saige's first Santa picture since I totally messed up last year and didn't get one. Well the first time we went to Santa, she was sleeping, so I decided not to wake her and just do Colby by himself and go back later with Saige. Well of course I never went back, then we were in Houston and I tried to go to the mall on Christmas Eve day and when I got there I found a line that was a least 2 hours to wait. So crazy. I gave up and accepted that I would not have a Santa picture for her first Christmas. I still feel sad about that, but oh well. This one's pretty cute, so it will have to make up for last year.

We Have Grown By Four Feet
Four PUPPY feet that is!!
Yes we got a puppy and he's adorable and so sweet. And before anyone says are you out of your mind or thinks that I went all crazy, we've been thinking, talking, etc about getting a second dog for a while now. I tried to convince Mark to adopt a 4 month old boxer mix back when we lived in San Antonio and before we had Colby. Since we moved to Minnesota we've been looking every now and then and had a pretty good idea of what kind of dog we wanted. So we ended up with him:
He's a Boston Terrier. Born September 8th and is 11 weeks old. He doesn't have a name yet (we're still trying to find one we both like) so we call him puppy a lot. He was about 9lbs when I picked him up on Friday and is now almost 10lbs. (Even though they have terrier in their name these dogs don't have the usual "terrier" characteristics. They behave much more like boxers do.)
He is seriously the sweetest little dog. All he wants to do is curl up in your lap. If we sit on the floor he comes and snuggles right in. If I'm standing somewhere he's sitting at my feet. He loves to lick, chew on the kids toys, sleep in his kennel, chase the cats, and curl up in any soft blanket. He's pretty obedient and responds quickly when I tell him no. We're working on potty training, so in the mean time he spends most of his time in his kennel or upstairs where we don't have carpet. He will not be going downstairs until he's really trained. Which makes the cats very happy. They occasionally come upstairs see him and run back down. Butters has shown interest in him, Callie hisses and runs away, Akira likes to be right on top of him and really tries to get him to play with her outside, so I think they will eventually have tons of fun especially when he's older and can handle her playfulness.
Colby LOVES this puppy. He wants to play with him, feed him, and talks about him all the time. When we leave the house he just wants to go back and play with "black and white dog" (Colby's name for the puppy). Saige on the other hand likes the idea of puppies and dogs but doesn't really like them to touch her or lick her. She also seems jealous of the puppy if I'm holding him. She's getting better, but still isn't crazy about him.
When we brought the puppy home we put him in a box and told Colby he could open his present. He pulled the box open and just had this look of excitement and shock. He wanted to hold him right away. Saige ran away crying when the puppy walked towards her. It was pretty funny. I have a video of it all that I need to try to get up on here soon. He keeps telling us this past week "I love my puppy you got for me" or "Remember when you gave me the box and the puppy was in it?!".
We are so happy and excited to have him in our family now. The only thing I'm not excited for is the fact that I'm potty training him in the winter. Luckily the snow melted for now and it has been around 30 degrees instead of lower like it will be soon. Hopefully he'll get better and I wont be freezing my butt off every 3 hours or so. At least he sleeps good at night and doesn't whine at all. I just have to take him out at 11 or 12 and then be up with him at 6:30 or so. haha I feel like I'm writing about a baby. I think puppies are easier than newborns because someone else took care of him for the first 11 weeks. lol
Anyways, that's whats going on around here. I might be a little crazy but it's all worth it when I see how much Colby loves him. :) Plus as my sister pointed out I had to even out my house 2 kids, 2 cats, and now 2 dogs.
