Skinny Girl

I was in the checkout line at the store today.  In front of me was a lady that I wanted to run over with my cart.  She probably weighed about 30 lbs.  She had on a tight black tank top and tight black yoga pants, her thighs weren't even close to touching.  In her cart I took inventory of the following items....

-One little boy
-Several cans of Spaghetti O's
-Pre-made packages of cookie dough
-Regular Coke......not diet.
-Pop Tarts

That's it! If she only had carrot sticks in the cart I would have thought "no wonder she's so thin....she's hungry."
You could probably find any of the above items in my cart sometimes, but my thighs defiantly touch!  Okay, okay, maybe she works out too, considering the outfit she had on.  So jealous!

Mutton Bustin Champ

Oh, so funny!  Belle won the mutton bustin at the rodeo last night.  We have video of it, but it does no justice.  That sheep took her all over the arena.  We were dying.  Enjoy the video.  I wish I could blame the out of control screaming on someone else, but it was me.  I was more excited than I could have imagined.  I didn't even realized I was screaming that crazy.

She was still on the sheep when I lost the video, we just couldn't see her.  The clown finally told her to let go because the sheep had her against the fence.  She was so excited.  She jumped up and down with both fists in the air.  Aaron was so proud it brought tears to his eyes. :)  Then when she brought the trophy to the stands the crowd went wild.  She thinks she is a star.  She loaded the trophy up in the wagon today and went to the neighbors.  Then we had to take it and show her friend Kimball, who won the contest last year.  He gave Belle some good advice, and she credits him and her lucky new cowgirl belt that uncle Heath gave her.  They even had to take picture of them and their trophies together.

When she stood up here to take her picture, random people stopped and got excited and were taking pictures of her.  I think she thought it was the paparazzi.
She has been working really hard to earn her new black cowgirl boots, ah.....the life of a cowgirl.

San Diego, Why Do I Love You So?

Wow, we struggle when it is time to come home from vacation!  We had such a fun time on our trip to San Diego.  We were able to go to Sea World and Lego Land.  Sea World is always a fun time and this was our first time to Lego Land.  The kids loved it!   We played in the tide pools at La Jolla, then we walked down and saw the seals.  We had lots of fun cousin time with Gavin and Damon.  One of our favorite things was swimming in the pool together.  Some of our good friends were able to come and visit.  Steve and Annalee, and their cute family.  This is the couple that set me and Aaron up, so they are extra special in our book.  We also got to take the kids down to the Bishops Store House.  Aaron's parents are missionaries there and they run the place.  The kids were able to go and stock shelves, coolers, and help people fill food orders.  It was a great experience for them, and they thought it was really fun.  It was also an eye opening experience for me and Aaron, we are really glad we got to go.  Most of all, we had a blast with Grandma and Grandpa everywhere we went!  Thank you for such a fun vacation.
(We also did a cupcake tour on our trip, I will put it up on my other blog soon. )

Circus Sunday

I just wanted to give a little shout out to my three wonderful kids!  Sometimes it's easier to see what they didn't do, instead of what they did do.  On Sunday Aaron had to give a talk in church. I was dreading the day from the moment I found out!  I knew that it was going to be a disaster (the kids, not Aaron's talk).  Well I was wrong.  Aaron was able to sit on the stand the entire meeting.  Barnes sat on my lap almost the entire time.  Belle and Reeve sat on the two chairs next to me.  We only had to get up one time about ten minutes before it ended because Reeve had to go to the bathroom.  Aaron delivered a really great talk that I actually got to listen to. It might have looked like chaos to others, but I was so proud of them.  I think I told them about 100 times how good they were, and it was the last thing they heard when they went to bed. Let's hope they are on a roll.

These are picture from the 4th of July weekend.  We stayed in a condo with my family.  This pic is my fave because it shows the "real us."  I love it.  Look how nicely my neice Sadie and nephew Dallin are sitting.  Ahhh, priceless.
This is what happens when you fall out of the Alpine Slide while you are trying to video record your ride down the mountain.  Ouch!  Good times for sure, it was a great weekend.

Conversations

Belle- "Dad, did they have chocolate chips when you were a kid?"

Aaron- "Yes"

Belle- "Wow, they're old!.......Did they have spoons when you were little?"

Aaron- "Yes"

Belle- "Were they made out of wood?"

Aaron- "No, they were made of rocks."

Belle- "Really?"

Father and Son Camp Out

Reeve LOVES camping! He has only gone three times in his life, and he has decided he is a camper. He said...and I quote "Mom, I love camping." He wants to eat hamburgers and hot dogs every meal now, because that's what you eat when you camp.
Reeve ran around in the tent like crazy when they got it set up. He couldn't wait to sleep in it with his brand new sleeping bag. He was also really excited about holding the flashlight. They both had such a fun time together.

Dirt, mud, cold, rain, caterpillars, what's not to love about camping?  Well, there was one little thing that Reeve didn't enjoy.....

Hiking!  When they got home I told him tell me all the fun things they did. He went through a whole list of things and then he said "but I don't like hiking."  That's my boy!

Summer Blues

We decided to have some fun the last day of school.  We took Belle and a friend out for lunch and ice cream.

Fun times!  After lunch we went back to the house and and the girls were playing on the trampoline. Belle landed funny and rolled her ankle.  It started swelling pretty good on both sides.  So Aaron loaded Belle and her friend up and off they went to the doctor.  They took some x-rays and it was just sprained good, and left a good bruise.
Summer Break Day 2: It's got to be better right? You can see the ankle all wrapped up. Notice anything else?  Belle has an ice pack on her back. She went out on the deck and was stung by a hornet. I couldn't believe it. I felt so bad for Belle. I think she was ready for school to start again. It left quite a mark on her.
All has been quiet until today. Belle started screaming bloody murder. She realized she was standing on an ant hill.  Instead of running off it, she panicked and stood there while they swarmed her. Aaron grabbed her off it and rolled her in the grass and was swatting them off. I think she was traumatized by the whole experience and she cried, and cried. I really hope that her summer starts looking up. Here is a picture of a fun memory this summer....

New Blog!

The only thing better than having one blog I don't keep up with, is having two blogs I don't keep up with!  I have had a bunch of people kindly request for me to archive things on my blog so they could find recipes and ideas. I decided that I wanted to keep my family blog separate from my crazy kitchen and craft ideas.  So I am starting a new blog call Stick It Spray It Whip It. It is a blog dedicated to three of my favorite things (besides Belle, Reeve, and Barnes)...glue guns, spray paint, and butter!
I will try and keep it updated and archived so it will be easy to find things. I will slowly try to move some ideas over from my family blog. So you may see some repeats.
You can continue to find crazy stories about the Quiggle family here on our family blog!
Here are a few things you can find on the new blog

Famous Last Words.....

Kenzie once said

"No, we will never have a dog. I will not have a dog in my house. A dog or cat, never.  If I have to resort to getting a pet, it will be a farm animal. Chickens, rabbits, hmmmm I'll think about it, but a dog....never!"
I am eating my words.  Meet Lola.

Aaron and the kids wanted a dog so bad. I couldn't convince them that a chicken would be so much fun. So I had a bunch of stipulations on finding a pet, and that is how we ended up with Lola.  We didn't want a puppy, too much work. Lola is almost six years old. She came from a family with kids. They had to move into a smaller place with no yard. So she is trained, she won't be having any puppies, and she was free! Lola is a boxer. She is really pretty. Wish us all luck eh? (Can you feel the excitement in my voice?)

Bud Turns 4!

Our bud turned 4 on May 11th. Oh, what to say about my Bud.  Look at those beautiful blue eyes.  He keeps us on our toes.  This boy is on the go 24/7....I am serious, he even gets up about three times a night. I would love to bottle up some of that energy and use it for myself.  Reeve is curious as could be, no wonder he loves Curious George.  Other things he loves are gum, snacks, cars, trucks, tractors, anything with wheels, animals, balls, playing outside, riding on the lawn mower, riding his bike, talking-he is now giving his sister a run for her money. Reeve is like his brother and sister and is really quick to say please and thank you. Reeve makes us laugh all the time.  He is such a funny, sweet, active boy who likes to show his love. He likes to hold my hand and rub it on his soft little cheeks, then he says "I love you." ..... Bud, "I love you too!"
We had Reeve's first friend party. He wanted a Lightning McQueen party.  He likes to say "Lightning and McQueen."  The party was so fun. I love this last photo. They went on a scavenger hunt.  There were clues all over the house. The car treasure box was in the oven. It was so funny because I thought they would rip it out of the oven and open it up. They just stood there in amazement and didn't know what to do.
Happy 4th Birthday Bud!

Dear Easter Bunny

We started something new this Easter.  I got tired of Easter feeling like it was all about the basket and the bunny.  So this year we had the kids write a letter to the Easter Bunny asking him to come on Saturday so they could think about Jesus and his resurrection on Sunday. It was fantastic!  We will be doing that from now on.
Reeve likes to pick his own pajamas and clothes each day!
We had a nice quiet Easter conference weekend!

Over spring break we headed down to visit my family.  We had a belated Easter egg hunt at my parents house.  Barnes carried this bag around for two days, it was so funny.  One night I had to pry it our of his little fingertips while he was in bed with it.  And we had our annual cash Easter egg hunt for the adults with my cousins family.  We also got to celebrate Aaron's birthday.  We got to go out on a real date and have some yummy food and good times!  It was a busy fun spring break.

The Big 7

My first baby just turned seven on March 27th..  How cute is this picture of her?  This is when she had just turned three.  Belle has always been such a girly girl. This picture says it all. I  get such a kick out of Belle.  Last night we put her to bed and let her fill is in on all of her days activities. She told us about everyone in her class at school (she loves telling the buisness).  She just talks and talks.  We listened and told her thanks for talking to us. When we went to leave the room she just kept going and going.  She was talking so fast trying to get all she had to say out. Finally I had to say "I love you, goodnight" and shut the door.  Well, she was still talking.  I just started to laugh. Some of you may have talked to her when you call the house. I must say, she is pretty funny on the phone. She loves to be social. We love Belle so much. She is a fantastic big sister who loves to take care of her brothers. She is quick to say thank you, and I love you. We are so lucky to have her.
We had a really fun party with some of her friends. Belle wanted to have a fancy party. So we had the girls wear dresses and we went to a beauty school and had their nails painted.
This was so much fun. I loved listening to the conversations with the party girls and the girls doing their nails. They thought they were so fancy!
Cupcakes and games. Can you put an oreo on your forhead and get it into your mouth using only facial movements??  Can you keep a feather in the air for 1 minute without it touching the ground or your body?
We had a little fashion show. Belle is workin the runway here.  Silly girls.
Love you Pup, Bellbo Baggins, Bumble Baggins, Bellbo, Bellerella, My best girl in the world.
So I used Picasa for the first time today. I am still learning......I couldn't figure it all out.  And the "H" key is hardly working, so I might be missing a few. But I wouldn't know because the spell check has completely disapeared and I can't find it anywhere.  Pictures I couldn't figure out, missing H's, and everything spelled wrong.

Circus Sunday

I won't even go into the noise factor from today. However, I will say that we didn't have to take anyone out of the meeting. That's only because we were too far to the front of the chapel, we were too embarrassed to make the long trek dragging the boys down the isle. So we just let them scream.
Anyway, I thougt for today's entertainment I would post the findings in Belle's scripture bag. I sat down next to her and I noticed it was bursting at the seams. This is what I found.
"Now let's see, I might be shaking hands with a lot of people so I will need to take my lotion. Incase I get teary giving my testimony at the pulpit I better bring some tissues, and I will want to look good up there so I will bring my lip gloss. I am out of Tic Tacs so I will bring my toothpaste and I can dab it and freshen my breath. Oh, I better bring my Leapster, I can bust that out if I have any spare time. And look, there is some room for my Book of Mormon. I will squeeze that in there since they asked us to bring them to Primary. Looks like I am good to go, hope I don't forget anything."
Belle is always so good at church that we got a good laught out of this. Then I confiscated all of it of course.

FTMOB
The other day Belle saw a picture of Jesus on the cross.  She said to me "Mom, look......it's Jesus on the Lacrosse."

Oh, we love our Belle.

5-4-3-2-1...Blast Off!

My friend Holly convinced me to put a cake up for auction for our ward service auction. I did, and she won! I knew she would. She is the kind of gal that get's all the extra credit points at a service auction. I am the kind of gal that get's all the deductions possible at a service auction. (those of you who have been to one know what I mean)  I'm so glad she won! She asked me to do a cake for her 7 year old son Nathan (who we also love). He is really into the solar system. Thus the space shuttle theme cake. He wanted a rainbow chip cake, so I decided to make it tie dye. I baked all day and had everyting ready to go. Then my engineer helped me build the rocket after the kids were in bed. (wings and nose are rice crispies)
They were so excited and grateful. Natan even gave me a cute thank you note, and gift. It made it worth the work. And one day I hope to be able to earn as many points as Holly at a service auction. :)

From The Mouth Of Reeve

Today I was walking Reeve into school when he asked me....
"Mom, will you walk with me to heaven?"

(I wanted to squish him to pieces right there. So cute.)

Thumbs, Binkies, and a Crib.

So a couple of weeks ago we went to put the boys to bed.  We couldn't find Barnes a "bink" anywhere. Not good. The boy must have a bink. After searching the house for an extended period of time we put him to bed without it. Now we already had issues going on with him climbing out of his crib (remember the plea for a tent?). Now he was out of his crib screaming for his bink. He screamed for a really long time, and just as he was begining to stop, Aaron found a bink. I threatened him not to give it to him. I figured we had got through our first night, let's just get rid of them. So we did.
We got the bright idea to try and get Reeve to stop sucking his thumb at the same time. We thought this was going to be really tricky. He only sucked his thumb when he had his  blanket. It is one of the fleece ones with the tassels all around the edges. So I took him to the fabric store to pick out some new fabric. We came home with Lightning McQueen. I made it without the tassels. And we haven't seen him suck his thumb
since.

While we were on a roll, we figured we would turn the crib into a todler bed. He climbed out of bed anyway, this just made it easier for him to get back in. Let me tell you what, it was a crazy few weeks! In the end, I am glad we did it all at once. Crazy big boys! I must say, they party like rock stars at night. They definitely have themselves a good time. And we have only come across the following scene a few times......

Baby Turns 2!

Can you believe this little guy turned 2? I can't. I guess I blinked or someting, it all happened so fast.  What a crazy and fun time we have had with Barnes the last 2 years. Such a funny little guy.  He loves anything that his big brother Reeve is doing. Anything that has wheels, makes noises, or has sugar, and the two of them are there! Barnes also enjoys a good mess.  His pj's in the picture say "Mess, what mess?" Enough said about that.  We all remember the oatmeal post don't we? Which brings me to the fact that Barnes is darn cute. There is a reason for that. The good Lord knew that he would need those big blues eyes to save his life on a regular basis.........and it works.
Barnes is talking like crazy right now. He loves to repeat everything Belle and Reeve say. His favorite thing though, is tattle tailing. He loves to dish on the details and name names. We get a kick out of it.
We still call Barnes baby a lot. Because he is our baby.  He cracks us up all the time, and gets endless smiles from us with those big blue eyes, round cheeks and plump lips. We love you little Barnes. Hope you had a fun 2nd birthday.
Here are the party details.
We had lot's of our fun family up, and we all went sledding. We had such a fun time.

Just incase.

Dr. Seuss party.  Do you love the Seuss shirt Papa got him for the party? Too cute.

Here is my little helper! He had a hard time staying out of the kitchen. This kept him occupied for a while.
For dinner we had a waffle bar. Everything from ice cream to strawberries to top them off, and chocolate milk to wash them down. Kinda Suessish right? I will post the waffle recipe soon. It is our families all time favorite.
Oh Barnes boy, hope you had a wonderful birtday!
