We hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas! We enjoyed ourselves and wanted to share a few of the highlights...
We have loved having Korbin as the newest member of our family and the girls both love being BIG sisters.
Kara was able to be in two nativities this year. The first one was for pre-school and she was able to be the angel when they visited a nursing home and then she was a wise man when they performed for the family party, as seen in this picture. Our primary also did a nativity for the ward Christmas party and Kara was a member of the angel choir. She can be seen on the far right. Grandma Maka had the girls over to make ornaments and Christmas cookies. I think that the girls ate more frosting than ended up on the cookies, but hey isn't that the best part about making cookies? Christmas day was a lot of fun for us, especially with having three kids at home now. Korbin did not enjoy the festivities nearly as much as the girls, but he will definitely enjoy all the gifts. The girls received a lot of fun presents this year. Brian blew this up in our living room and the girls had a lot of fun playing in it. It is too bad that we don't have more room and can't keep it blown up all the time. Grandpa Max and Maka surprised the kids with this awesome dinosaur. It took a little coaxing, but after a little while Kara jumped on and loves it. Kassi on the other hand is still a little frightened. Kassi prefers a ride that is a little more tame... Kassi's favorite gift was a pink Leapster, so she could be just like her big sister. Kara received many greats gifts, but if you ask her what her favorite part of Christmas was, she will reply "my bubble gum Xylitol gum" (she has been telling us that she needs to chew it everyday ever since her grandpa told her that it was good for her teeth) We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
I finally found a minute to download some more photos. To start off, for those you who were not able to see me in all my glory, here I am. I really did get HUGE!
Here's our little man shortly after he was born. He's a pretty content little guy. Korbin's sisters were so excited to welcome him home and they are great helpers. I love that this little guy is his own little person and we love having another boy around the house. Korbin did not enjoy his first bath at all. It is hard to believe that he is already almost two weeks old. We just love him and are so glad that he is finally here.
We started Halloween with the annual carving of the pumpkins. Each year we have a picture of Kara licking the pumpkin and this year was no exception.
We let the girls draw their own designs on the pumpkins they had picked out and then Brian carved out what they drew.
Kassi drew an interesting pattern, but Brian was able to make it work.
Grandma and Grandpa Swenson even brought pumpkins of their own to carve too.
We had a wonderful Halloween this year. Grandma Maka (Swenson) made the costumes as usual and they turned out amazingly. Kara and Kassi both wanted to be princesses and they felt very beautiful in their dresses.
This is Kara's "princess" pose.
One of the girls' favorite things to do in their dresses was to twirl and they did this all day and all night.
This is what happens when I ask Kassi to "smile".
Luckily this picture turned out a little better.
The girls had a few Halloween events to attend. The first was Kara's pre-school Halloween party. It began with a parade and then they sang us a few songs before we had cookies and milk.
The second event was a party at their friends' house where they did a bunch of Halloween activities and mostly enjoyed running around with their friends in their costumes.
The third event was Trunk-or-Treat. Bri took the girls around to all the cars while I handed out candy. It took about half an hour to visit all the cars and this was long enough for both Kara and Kassi because it was bitter cold out.
Grandma and Grandpa Swenson were at Trunk-or-Treat too and they even dressed up (or did they?)
Our fourth and final Halloween event was an open house at our friend's house. Here are the girls with Anya.
The girls with Ammon...
The girls with Alan...
The girls were given some vampire teeth and had fun "scaring" everyone.
All in all, it was a good Halloween. The girls had fun being princesses, hanging out with their friends, and most of all...getting candy!
