Mini Getaway

We were lucky enough to be able to get away for a few days and head to beautiful Hawaii. We took Buggers with us and left the girls with Maka and Grandpa. The weather was beautiful - in the low 80's and we had fun just hanging out in paradise. Bug loved being at the beach for the first time and spending some one-on-one time with his mom and dad. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Happy Birthday Bug!

We had a very thankful Thanksgiving. In addition to being able to celebrate this special time with family, we were able to celebrate Bug's first birthday! We love this little guy and sure are thankful to have him in our family.

He was very excited to get a "big boy" car seat and to be able to turn around and see what he has been missing for the last year. It is fun to be able to turn around in the car and see the faces of all three of my little ones.

After eating a delicious meal, we headed outside to play in the snow. Grandpa drove the four wheeler all around the yard and the kids had fun taking turns riding with him.

The girls jumped on some sleds and had a few mishaps, but despite their falls they just loved being outside.

Grandma made the birthday cake and there is no better way to celebrate a birthday on Thanksgiving than with a turkey made out of cake. The birthday boy loved the cake too and couldn't keep his hands off of it.

Happy Halloween

Once again, I seem to be falling behind in my posting, but I wanted to share our Halloween pictures and then I will go back and catch up with some older photos. Grandma made some awesome costumes again this year. Kara and Kassi were beautiful witches.

Korbin was a beetle due to the fact that his nickname is "Bug".

We had a busy Halloween full of all kinds of fun Halloween activities. Kassi had a little Halloween party at pre-school and then on Halloween day we went to a carnival at Kara's school. The girls loved getting their faces painted.

There were also games, friends, and treats.

From there we trick-or-treated at a few houses and then it was off to Trunk-or-Treat. It was a cold night and after about five cars the girls were too cold to go on. They joined Korbin and me in the car and helped hand out treats to the rest of the kids.

We trick-or-treated at a few more friends houses and then it was off to Maka and grandpa's house for some Halloween games and treats. Maka hid their treats in the dark and the girls had to find them with the use of flashlights. Then they got to go inside a "haunted house" before playing a few games. This picture shows them trying to pick out treats that were mixed in with a bunch of beans.

Before heading home, we all tried our hand at eating a donut off a string. This is always a lot harder than it seems and finished off the night with a lot of laughter. We hope you all had a very Happy Halloween!

Camp LaDaSa

As a kid we used to head out to a locally owned church camp called Camp LaDaSa. We decided to head out there again this summer. We walked around and looked at the cabins that we stayed in when I was a kid camping with the young women. The girls LOVED the cabins.

Korbin just loved getting a ride from grandpa Max

and tried to crawl every time he could.

The girls loved walking around the railroad tracks with dad,

checking out the dock,

and cooking on a campfire.

Korbin was pretty content to just play.

Kassi was the only one of the girls brave enough to head out in the canoe.

The girls could not get enough of the train tracks and even got to wave to the passengers on the train as it roared by.

The weather was beautiful and once again we were happy to living in such a beautiful place.

It has always been tradition to stop at the "big ice cream" cone in Houston for ice cream and we are not ones to break with tradition.
