Pinewood Derby!

Yesterday was the big Pinewood Derby!  We had so much fun.  The kids did really well and Tim ended the gala with a bang-- literally.
This is the gun he designed to use air pressure to shoot his car across the track.  It was awesome.  It's based on his original potato gun design from a few summers ago.
This was the car.  The gun shot out a stick that rammed the car on the red square.  It was stinkin' fast.
This was the car he designed (and made) for me.  It won first place-- yeehoo!

It's pretty sweet-- right?!!

Pinewood Derby

It's that time of year again-- Pinewood Derby!!
The kids each picked their theme and Tim got to work.  The big race is this Saturday and the smell of victory is in the air!
These are two special crafted cars that will blow the wheels off the competition.  The one on the left is for the regular open class.  The one on the right is for the crazy class and goes about 40 mph.  It's a scream.

May the best man (Tim) win.

Cousin Love

We got to hang out with the Barlows this weekend and the kids had so much fun as usual.
Jodi and I bought these two BFFs matching shirts.  They are in heaven.  They are planning which days they want to match for school.  Sweet!
Chloe got a hold of Em's Paper Jam (which is a real hit at our house).  The kids are literally waiting in line to use it.

New Shoveling Techniques

It's been steadily snowing here for several days.  We've got just an inch or two of accumulation at a time.  Just enough to need to shovel our walk but not enough to really want to.  So Timmy thought it would be a good idea to get the boys out on the job.  I watched them out the back window for a few minutes.  They are shoveling away like normal and then I see Rugs flip his shovel over and try it the other way.  He tells Em that he found a new way that works better.  So the two of them are out there sweeping the snow together.
Here is the snow director himself.
Em is always our willing participant.
This guy has all sorts of new ideas for the shovel.  Nice work boys!
Here they are in action.

Flat Poppy

Flat Poppy arrived at our door a few short weeks ago and has been partying it up here in Wisconsin.  Flat Poppy has been having a blast playing with her cousins and frolicking in the snow.  She says next time she would like to be drawn with snow pants and a coat cause it's cold here!  Brrrr!
Flat Poppy tried on lots of Badger Gear to take home with her.
 She made some new friends.
She loved to make snow angels when she was playing outside.
Flat Poppy loved to be outside when it was snowing.
She watched a few movies with us.
Don't worry.  We closed her eyes during the scary parts.
Flat Poppy got pretty good at the DS.
Flat Poppy loved to look at our fish tank.  It reminded her of the ocean.
She also played a lot of air hockey with her cousins.
Flat Poppy liked to read books before she went to bed.
Shhhh...  she's all tuckered out from playing so hard.  It's time for bed.

Thank you for sending her to us.  We had so much fun!  Next time we'd like the real Poppy to come for a visit here in Wisconsin.  Oh-- and don't forget your mittens!

Just a little more Christmas.... please?

After our big trip we still had a little Christmas left in us.
These two found some good clearance items for next year.
Z made Tim this gift card for Best Buy.  :)
I got a coupon book for around the house.
I think I need to cash this one in tomorrow.
Zoey has found her place in the world as our newest chef.  Grandma made her this apron for Christmas and then turned her loose in the kitchen.  She wore her new ski goggles for extra protection.
This is what they came up with together.  Yum!
Em and Libs chillin' on the couch.  Two of our cutie blondies.

We hope you had as much fun as we did this Christmas.  Now, who's for a vacation from your vacation?

California Rules!

This Christmas we spent some time with family in sunny California.
We took the kids to a huge candy store and let them pick whatever they wanted.
These two chuckle heads picked gigantic gum balls.
I told them they'd never get them chewed at once in their mouths.  They were determined to prove me wrong.
They all had a lot of fun trying.
Even Em gave it a try.
Em picked gummy snakes.  Now that's a mouth full too.
Grandma G took Zoey and I shopping at some really cool places.
We had lots of fun Christmas morning all together.
The kids were loving the warm sun without coats.
Rugs is my poser.  Isn't he cute?
Em looked like this on our red-eye flight home.
These guys held out for the entire trip.  Way to go guys!  Thanks for a fun time California Fam!  We loved it!
