Snapshots and Quotables

"Hey! I want in!"
"Oh...hi Mommy!"

Daddy and his littlest girl

checking out the big girl tent

Ella keeps us busy by crawling over to turn off the television whenever she is feeling mischievous. Her little face says it all. When I tell her "no", she turns around and smiles with the biggest smile on her face. The sweet thing is she usually chooses to stop and drop down on her bottom. Then, she starts clapping for herself! :)
kisses

Sometimes Abby asks if she can write my grocery list.  I've found that it's usually when she wants to add something to the list herself. See upper right hand corner.

Big sister gave Ella her first set of wings.

Abby takes the role of super hero very seriously.

While pointing to the picture of a diamond ring...
A: Mommy, I would really LOVE a ring like this someday.
M: Well, one day when you love a man are ready to get married, he will ask you to marry him by giving you a ring like this.
A: Do you have a ring like this?
M: Yes. This is my diamond ring.
A: Your "I'll love you forever" ring that Daddy gave you?
M: Yes!
A: Well, Mommy.....I really just want to marry Daddy. Can I just marry Daddy?
M: You can pretend to marry Daddy everyday until you are all grown up!
A: No, I don't want to pretend. He is the only person I really want to marry. Ok Mommy?
M: Ok! ;)
(Ooooh my precious little girl!)

Go Orange!

One morning I turned around and found this. Amazed by Abby's three year old writing.

Abby today

Favorite thing to draw: machines of all kinds, but especially colors and dot making machines and crayon machines

Favorite song to sing: Hosanna

Favorite game to play: mommies, store, gymnastics class, Rachael Ray show, church

Favorite question to ask: How was your day today? What did you do today? What did you learn about God today?

Fears: trying something you don't think you can do well (some perfectionist tendencies for sure), being pushed on the swings, the car running off without you, wolves and foxes

Things that make you excited (or as you would say "Things that make your heart happy"): surprise trips to the playground, family time of any kind (as long as Mommy, Daddy and Ella are all there with your heart is all filled up), Monday mornings because that means it's time for gymnastics, calling your "big" family on the phone and chatting with them, going grocery shopping and using the shopping cart with a car on the front, baking with Mommy, going to church, dry erase markers, playing with friends

Favorite foods: bagels with butter (must be melted and invisible to you), pizza, salad with tomatoes and cucumbers, quesadillas, pears, carrots, grapes, cheese/crackers/apples, anything that's crunchy, Trader Joe's popcorn puffs

Top TV shows: Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and The Fresh Beat Band

You tell us all the time how you have twenty kids. When asked how you take care of them all, you always respond, "one at a time". And it's very true. You rotate your babies and take care of each one so sweetly. I love watching you. If you have to go outside or go somewhere, you ask whoever is staying home to babysit. If you have to go in to the bath, you make sure your baby is taken care of before you go (which often means I have a kitchen floor full of babies I am babysitting while cooking dinner).

Ella: 9 months

9 months old

18 pounds 7 ounces

29 inches long

size 3 diapers

wearing 12-18 months clothing

pulling up on everything and cruising around

turning on the TV when no one is looking

first word: bye-bye (ba-ba-ba while waving)

clapping hands: you spontaneously start clapping when Daddy, Abby or I walk into the room

favorite sounds: ma-ma-ma-ma, blowing bubbles, mmmmmmmm, gahh and any kind of loud scream you can shout at us

nursing about 4 times a day

having a rough few weeks of sleep because of more teeth trying to poke through

when resisting a nap, you unleash your frustration. Most days, you go right to sleep, but when you decide you would rather be doing something else, you scream as long and as hard as you can manage, then fall asleep bent over in the sitting up position. hysterical.

first time on your swing and loved every minute of it

first scary boo-boo when you threw yourself off of your changing table. Abby is still telling people that you broke your neck.  So thankful that is only an exaggeration and you are just fine. You keep us on our toes FOR SURE!

favorite things to do: anything Abby is doing, standing up on the changing table and looking out the window, chasing Abby around

Loves: Elmo and Barney, dogs, being outside in your swing or stroller, dancing, your sister, people wearing sunglasses, the remote, Mommy's cell phone, your water cup

Dislikes: the vacuum, the food processor, anything that makes loud noises, being closed out of Abby's room or not being allowed to play with what Abby is playing with

Favorite foods: cream cheese toast, tomatoes, grapes, avocado, cheese, yogurt, pasta, scrambled eggs, salmon

Abby: Sissy, sissy....SPACE! Please. I need some space, Ella.

walked into the room and found this fun surprise. Ella is standing AND cruising.

loving springtime and the swings

Abby is such a helpful big sister...always offering to take care of Ella.

Abby: Mommy, do you know Jesus?
Me: I do. Do you?
Abby: I do. He likes to wear a white shirt.

Ella falls asleep like this often. Sometimes she will be crying and angrily protest because she doesn't want to go to sleep, then she puts her pacifier in and passes out just like this. It is hysterical to walk in and find her bent in half and sleeping in sitting position.

sisters playing together

I think Sid the Science Kid is a great show. Abby has learned so much from it. In the last two weeks, my three year old has informed me that:
1. Because of inertia she needs to wear a seatbelt
2. The butter is melting because I'm "applying heat" to it.
3. Ella did not just have teeth coming in (as I put it), but Ella's incisors were growing in.
4. If something is too heavy for me to pick up, I should just make a pulley.

I had to look up inertia to remember its real definition to see if Abby was applying it correctly. High school physics wasn't my strongest subject. ;) Thank you Sid for teaching preschoolers and re-teaching their parents.

"Look at me, Momma!"

Abby wearing my communion dress. It is now her dress up wedding dress. She LOVES to play dress up and especially to play "Let's get married".

Some Highlights from Mama's Visit

We played a lot, crafted a lot (sewing and knitting), cooked together and shopped a bit. Best of all, we just did normal life with Nagymama while she was here and life was even better just having her here with us. Thrilled that we only have to wait three months until we see her again!
