5 hours ....what is this you ask? Is it the amount of time it takes me to complete a simple task at home some days? Perhaps but no that is not the answer...is it the time needed to cook a meal? Well again perhaps it could be but if you know me at all then you know I didn't cook much before a newborn so I am not
doing a lot of cooking right now either. 5 hours my friends is the amount of time my sweet Major slept at one time last night ! I was so pumped ( after I woke in a panic and realized it had been 5 hours but then heard his sweet breathing and ddecided I could just be happy ) let's see if he can pull a repeat performance tonight!

I'm back....finally!
I realize it's been 2 weeks since my last post and since I had gotten so good about posting that is longer than usual for me. However, I have three very good reasons for being absent and their names are Kels, Houston and Major :) All is going very good at the Thomas household... Major slept really good last night and is sleeping on my lap right now so it was either eat lunch or blog so I thought I would take advantage of the time to post a couple of quick things ( yes you 3 or 4 readers of mine should feel very privileged that I picked blogging over lunch :)
Houston and Major went to the Dr yesterday for their 4yr and 2 week check-ups...
H-man weighs 39 lbs and is 3 1/2 ft tall and Major is up to 8 lbs and is still about 20 1/4 inches ( although he wouldn't quite cooperate stretching out so he might be a little longer )- H got 3 shots and Major got blood drawn from his heel :( so it was a long, tiring appointment on everyone- they both did great though and Houston didn't even cry until the 3rd and final shot. Afterwards it was Sonic for Houston and Daddy and Starbuck's for Mommy ( but seriously if they made something bigger than a Venti I would have gotten it) - Major slept through all of our stops after the Dr. and H was seriously concerned that he didn't get a slushy as well so I had to reassure him that even if he had been awake he still wasn't quite big enough for a slushy just yet :) After a final stop at HEB for cake mix and a few other things that I had forgotten on previous trips to Target, Wal-mart and HEB over the weekend ( how does that happen every week ??) we finally made it home and I made cupcakes to send to school with H today to celebrate his birthday which was this past saturday.
I also realized that I never finished my birth story so here goes- I was dilated to a 4 upon arriving to the hospital- I knew I had to have a bag of fluids before I could get my epidural- the nurse couldn't start my IV ( I was a bit dehydrated and my vein kept "rolling" -yes it felt as good as it sounds :( finally she was able to get it in and I got my bag of saline and then the anesthesiologist took about 10 minutes of digging in my back to get my epidural (which was worth every minute though once it was finally in)...after all of that they broke my water which sent me from a 4 to an 8 1/2 in less than 45 minutes...another 15 minutes after that I was a 10 and was ready to begin pushing- not even 5 minutes of pushing and Major Reid Thomas was here!!!! the cord was wrapped around his neck once and his leg which prevented him from moving down faster or he might have been out in about a minute. He is the sweetest baby and we are enjoying him every minute of every day!!! Houston and Kels both adore him and H proudly proclaims that Major is his "best friend" :) guess this was a little more than a few "quick things" but I dont know when I will make it back to the computer- next time I promise some new pics- have a great week!
