Snowman

Ashlyn loves to play in the snow and especially loves to build snowmen. She and Alan had a great time playing in the snow Christmas day. My parents house had a lot of snow and Ashlyn could not wait to get out in it.

Christmas Day

Alan, Ashlyn, and I spent Christmas day with my parents. Ashlyn loved Christmas morning and especially loved getting "everything from my list." She is really easy to please thankfully! Ashlyn was excited that Santa had not forgotten her digital camera and dinosaur. Alan and I also had a great Christmas. Watching Ashlyn be so excited I think made it for us.

My pregnant belly

Many people have asked to see a picture of my pregnant belly. This picture is not the best, but it was taken when I was 24 weeks. I am now 28 weeks. I am officially bigger now than I was when I delivered Ashlyn and I still have about 10 weeks to go. That is if there are no complications between now and then. I will post another picture later. (Sorry the picture is sideways. One day I will figure out how to change this.)

Ashlyn is in a singing/dance class. They had two performances during the holidays. Her first performance was at the Festival of Trees. I danced at the Festival when I was a little girl so I loved going back. Ashlyn was hilarious. Lets just say that it does not matter what the rest of the class is doing--Ashlyn will dance whatever beat she feels! Alan and I were laughing so hard, as well as the rest of the crowd, when Ashlyn just about tipped over the microphone. She is really proud of herself and she is not afraid to perform in front of a crowd!

Sorry!

Ok, I know it has been a long time since I have posted. I know pregnancy is not much of an excuse, but maybe the holidays and having my sister and her two kids live with me are. I will try and keep on it now--I promise!

Stylish

Ashlyn got into my makeup and proceeded to make herself look stylish! She told me that her dad was going to "love her style". After a few minutes of looking at herself in the mirror she told me that she did not like her style and that she needed it washed off or it would get on her pillow when she went to bed. I am glad to see she is thinking ahead. I had a hard time getting off. I guess it did not help that I was laughing at her as I was trying to wash it off.

Preschool program

Ashlyn had her first preschool program this morning. She got to dress up in her Halloween costume and sing her favorite song--"Black Cat!" I was really surprised at how much singing she really did do. I guess she is learning something at preschool! She kept standing up and waving to us. At one point the teacher asked her in the microphone to sit down. That's my girl! I think she makes a great little witch.

Pumpkin Patch

Ashlyn and I were able to go to a local pumpkin patch with neighbors. Ashlyn loved the hay maze and sitting with the scare crows. As always, Angie also came on the outing. I love this time of year!

Pre-conference entertainment

Ashlyn woke up Sunday morning and saw that it was raining and could not stop asking to go outside and jump in the puddles. Finally we caved and took her outside. We wanted her to get some energy out so we could hopefully watch some of conference. She was having so much fun that it was hard to get her inside. You have got to love her outfit--snow boots, rain coat, pajamas and crazy bed hair!

As most of you know I love cake. So I could not let my 30th, birthday (I know that I am old) go by without making a birthday cake. I decided that I would let Ashlyn assist with this process and then decorate the cake. She was proud of the outcome and loved every minute of it. Of course more frosting was licked off the knife then actually put on the cake, but the excessive blue sprinkles hide the uneven frosting.

Ashlyn asked for some string last week. After watching her wrap the string around the bathroom door, the island in the kitchen, the dinner table and the coffee table; I asked her what she was doing. Her response was, "I am making an invention, The String 3000. It is to keep daddy in the bathroom forever." (I swear those are her words exactly!) I got a great laugh out of it and had to take some pictures. Ashlyn was completely happy with herself. So if anyone needs to keep their husband or daddy in the bathroom forever talk to Ashlyn and she will tell you how it is done.

First Day of Preschool

Ashlyn has been talking about going to preschool for months. She made a big deal about leaving her parents and her toys and going for the "summer" to preschool. She said we would not be able to visit her, but that we could stay home and play with her toys. Well, when it came right down to the hour before preschool she did not want to go. This picture is of her hiding in my bed and crying because she did not want to go to preschool yesterday.
However, after some convincing that she was not afraid to go outside and that bees would not sting her at preschool she was happy and willing to go. When I picked her up she was excited and told me that the best part was the snack. They learned about the letter A, so when I asked her what started with A she said a crocodile! I guess she has a lot to learn!

Well it is official--Ashlyn is getting her wish somewhat! All along she has been asking for three babies. Fortunately, three is not in our future, but two are!! We had our first ultrasound this week and were shocked and amazed that we are receiving double the blessings! We just pray now that everything goes well and that we have two healthy and happy babies in the end. Ten weeks almost down, just 28 more to go! (Sorry for the picture, I did not know how to turn it.)

Alan and I have been promising Ashlyn all summer that we would take her camping and fishing. Realizing that we have about three weeks left of summer we decided we better keep our end of the deal. We decided Thursday night to leave Friday afternoon. We first stopped at Smith and Morehouse and soon realized that reservations were required several days in advance. So we drove to Rockport. The same was true. So we back tracked again and went up the Mirror Lake highway and camped at Yellow Pine in the Unitas. Ashlyn had a blast. She was so excited to sleep in a tent and roast marshmallows--even though she does not like to eat them. She was a little worried about bears (only because the camp ranger had stopped to give us bear safety tips) so she devised a plan that involved her gathering rocks to throw at a bear should one dare to enter our camp. The next morning we got up and went fishing. Thankfully, three-year-old attention spans are not very long and after catching three fish and touching them all she was finished. We all went home feeling pleased with our family adventure and excited to do it again. Note that Baby Angie was on this camping trip as well. We could not convince her to leave her at home. There is nothing like sharing a sleeping bag with Ashlyn and Angie.

Ashlyn's passions

I want to take a minute and describe my beautiful little Ashlyn Kate! She has a couple of passions in life. They include but are not limited too: playing with her dolls Baby Angie and Dollie, making signs, and playing tea party. She is completely attached to her dolls right now. Angie had a mishap last week and ended up having a very long sleep over at cousin Kaci's. Every day Ashlyn would tell me how sad she was and that she had lost her smile because she did not have Baby Angie. Watching Ashlyn make signs is hilarious. According to Ashlyn the signs always say something like, "no boys can come or no moms or dads at tea party." Ashlyn thinks tea parties are only of girls and she needs to post a sign somewhere by the party so that everyone knows. Ashlyn has the amazing talent of making a tea party out of anything and there is usually at least two parties going on in different places in the house every day. If you are a girl come on over--she loves "customers" at her tea parties.

Our latest blessing!

As many of you know Alan and I have been working on having another child for about a year and a half. We did IVF to have Ashlyn four years ago and since then we have had two other attempts that were unsuccessful. July 3, 2008 we were blessed to try it again. The picture is of the two embryos that we implanted. We just found out that the procedure was successful. The verdict is still out as to whether it is one or two!

Ashlyn and I spent the day at the park for Bountiful Pioneer Days! There were a lot of fun things for little kids to do. Ashlyn's loved the pony rides and Ferris wheel! She was really excited to have cotton candy! She did not eat much of it, however.

Ashlyn had many fans at her recital. This picture is with Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Don. Grandma Woodland, Aunt Shannnon, Aunt Jessica, Aunt Kathryn and all of her cousins Kayla, Hailey, Carson, Brinley, Zeak, Jake, Kaci, Madison, Andrew, Kaitlyn and Kolton were also there. Thanks to everyone that came--it made it lots of fun!!!

Ashlyn had her first dance review last night. Ashlyn and I were in a mom and tot class and both had to preform. Ashlyn was really excited and did a great job. At class Ashlyn would always look at herself in the mirrors, so I was glad that when we were actually on stage with no mirrors that she performed.

Family Vacation: San Francisco

Tyler and Jennifer invited Alan, Ashlyn and I to go to San Francisco with them and Josh, Kyle and Sydnee. Ashlyn could have cared less what we did as long as Josh, Kyle and Sydnee were there. Every morning she would wake up and want to go to their hotel room. We spent a lot of time at Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. We also were able to go to Six Flags, ride the cable cars to Union Square, go on a tour of San Francisco in little three wheeled cars and spend some much deserved time at Ghirardelli Square eating chocolate!!! The food was great, the sun was perfect and spending time as a family was the best of all!

Friday, June 6, 2008

Ashlyn decided that her dad was sick tonight with the hiccups. So she made him lay down on the sofa with a bib on while she feed him water with a spoon. She also read to him a bedtime "snoozer" book.

Ashlyn's beautiful art work

I have to say, Alan is a great sport! Ashlyn insisted on painting Alan's toe nails one night while I was at work. It took her a long time to make them, "perfect." Ashlyn was really proud of her efforts and keeps asking Alan if she can do it again. I am not really sure if I can leave them home unsupervised. Who knows what kind of trouble the two of them could get in to.

Yup, Alan went down stairs to find that Ashlyn had taken the scissors to her hair. At first, bewildered by what he saw, he tried to find the stuffed animal that was missing hair. He then realized that it was Ashlyn's. When I asked her, with tears in my eyes, what she was doing she smiled and said, "but my hair was in my eyes!" Good reason to chop it off, I guess. I could not yell at her--I did give her the scissors and then left her unattended while we painted her room. If you look closely to the left side of her face you can see some short pieces of hair. She also cut her hair in the back.
Here goes nothing! Yes, I have officially started a Gee Family Blog. Hopefully it will not bore or put any of you to sleep. Of course there never really is a dole moment at our house so we should be able to keep everyone entertained to some extent! Ashlyn will have the lead role in this blog with her Dad and I as supporting cast! I hope you will find her performances as delightful as we do.
