The Baby

This is just a quick post to tell you about our doctor appointment. It was amazing to hear the little heart, it pumps so fast! Everything is going well. The doctor said that the morning sickness should go away in the next few weeks- he better be right! I have not gained any weight, in fact, I have lost 5 pounds since my first appointment in May. The doctor wasn't concerned about it, he said I should get my appetite back completely by week 18. I still love food, it just doesn't love me back. I'm excited to really start enjoying things like icecream again!
I will post the pictures from our Portland/Olympia trip later this week. This morning I am leaving to Lake Cascade for a family reunion with Rob's family. Unfortunately, Rob has school and can't come, so I am going with his sister. It should be lots of fun, but I'm sad to go without Rob. -Amanda

PS: My baby bump isn't quite as noticeable as I thought.

Too Much Fun in the Sun...

I am starting to feel quite a bit better. My sister-in-law called this morning and asked if they could all come and swim at the pool. I decided that I would go a little early, enjoy the weather, and read by the poolside. I made sure to put on my 50spf sunblock to protect my wonderfully fair skin on the parts that I deemed needed protection. My arms and legs (I thought to myself) could use some sun, so I don't need to put sunblock there; an hour or two in the sun will become a nice little tan.
Did you know that pregnancy may cause increased sensitivity to the sun? My legs and right arm, apparently the sun was slightly to the south, are now bright red and burning. Instead of a tan, I will now get the very attractive reptile-like skin sluff towards the end of the week. The main problem though is the burning, yeah, that wasn't so smart of me. Does aloe really take the burn away? I've been applying it, but it seems like a temporary fix.
Anyway,We are going to Portland for a wedding at the end of the week. It should be a lot of fun. The good news for you is that I will finally post some pictures. None of which, I imagine, will be close enough that you will see my skin sluff, thankfully. But I have a little bit of a baby bump that you should be able to see in the pics. Also, we have our second appointment on Wednesday. We should be able to hear the heartbeat with the doppler, that should be awesome! I will update you at my earliest convenience regarding the baby, whom Rob and I often call "bun" meaning "the bun in the oven". (Thought you might need to know that in case I refer to the baby as such.) -Amanda

This is my first post on our new blog. I thought that since we will soon become three, this is the best way to keep everyone informed. I will try to stay up on it, eventually it may take the place of email and facebook-depending on how busy I get. For those of you who don't know, or need an update; I am 11 weeks pregnant. I have been sick for a month or so now, hopefully it ends soon. Zofran, an antinausea medication, has become my friend every morning. I don't have any recent pictures. I should take some, I suppose. I'm not looking pregnant yet, though my clothes are fitting tighter in several places, so I haven't felt the need to photgraph this part of my pregnancy. Maybe a picture of me eating a saltine cracker or hugging the toilet would best describe the first few months of growing a baby.

As for Rob, (who may add a post for himself occasionally) he started school again this week. So far so good. Just one more year! By next August, Rob will have a degree in accounting and have a great job. That is the goal anyway. Well, I guess I should figure out how the rest of this website works. Enjoy the blog, I'm sure that I will enjoy yours :) -Amanda
