Partner in Crime

Today I told Carter no more marshmallows. I told him he could have a banana or some banana bread. There were a few tears and then he left the room. I didn't think much of it until I heard some noise on the tile. I came out to see this:

Carter grabbed his climbing stool from the bathroom (which is suppose to be for helping him reach the sink to wash his hands and brush his teeth) and pushed it up next to the pantry. Luckily because he was leaning against the cupboard he couldn't open it to get the marshmallows out. He knows the marshmallows are on a high shelf.
Carter has never been a climber before but I think that's slowly changing. Thanks in part to his trusty blue stool. (notice the broom in the background. It is slowly becoming a permanent fixture on the floor thanks to Carter)
After I told him "no more marshmallows" he pushed his stool over to the other side where the banana bread it located. And yes that is a lighter in his hand......I haven't had to worry about things on the counters, until now. When he saw me snapping pictures he gleefully told me "Standing on it, mommy!"

Everything's Bigger and Better in Texas!!

We spent last week in Houston, TX with some friends. We had never been to TX so they made sure to show us the highlights in the few short days we were there. The Houston Fair was in town and this was unlike any other fair/rodeo I had ever been to. They had everything you could imagine.

The highlight for Carter was riding on the "Beeg Tractors." He is all boy as he is obsessed with tractors, trucks, cars, buses, and vans. He can distinguish between all of those.

He was not happy about having to share the driver's seat with Kate but luckily Kate didn't mind being the passenger and let Carter take over.

They had an awesome petting zoo with llamas, deer, pot bellied pigs, goats, and lots more. Carter was satisfied with lightly touching them once, and not petting.

We visited the famous Houston Zoo, and so did the rest of the state of Texas. Apparently the whole state was on Spring Break at the same time so it was super crowded. That didn't ruin our fun. Luckily Texas saved its nicest weather for us. 70-75 degrees with no humidity!

Our last day was spent at the Kemah Boardwalk. This was the only day the weather was crappy. But still warmer than Utah. It took Carter 3 days to work up the courage to finally put the moves on Little Kate. And once he held her hand, he wasn't letting go!

The highlight of the trip would have to be the food. Sad? Yes but it's true! You haven't really eaten until you've eaten true Texan Food.
This meal was at Rudy's BBQ and it was delicious. Carter didn't want to eat his meat off the table. He preferred to eat it straight from the bone.

Like Father Like Son. The Ribs were the 3rd best place we ate, and you know it's good food when Ribs come in 3rd. We enjoyed wonderful TexMex and the best Steak House you could ever dream of. Our mouths still water thinking of that Pork Chop and dessert. I am avoiding the scale as I'm sure the number has gone way up after all that good food.

Carter fulfilled another dream by riding on a red, shiny train.

All of us on the train. We took the kids to the park everyday and even the parks are amazing there. Carter cried everytime we had to leave one. We didn't want to come back to cold, dreary Logan.

Thanks Mike and Julia for the great time. When can we come out again? Also-does Perry's and Lupe Tortilla ship their food overnight by chance?!?!

For Grandma

This video is mostly for the Grandmas because they are the ones who bought him these 2 books. This video is kind of long and I am way to lazy to figure out how to crop it and shorten it. But it's cute.

Carter reading his books. Neil says the word after so you can hear what it is in grown up talk. My favorite word of his is "bouncy." He uses a whole lot of tongue and saliva to say that word!
