Baby Brigham

Baby Brigham was born on 11/22 at 9:53am. He was 7lbs 11oz and 19in. We had a scare at first but everything turned out well. He has been a trooper.

The birth was a little scary for us. The placenta abrupted before her water broke. I found the blood and called the doctors. Before I knew it, we were off to surgery. It was hectic and scary. All of the doctors were so professional and efficient. It was a totally different experience than Eliza's birth. We weren't prepared for this, but we were grateful that we were in the hospital.

Once the baby was here, I went with the baby while they finished with Amber. Brigham was perfect. He hardly cried and passed all his tests. I spent some time with him and then went to check on Amber. I felt like I was going back and forth between the two. It was a lot of walking on my recovering heel.

Finally, Amber was moved down to the mother/baby unit. She didn't get to see him until 4 hours after delivery. She held him for 10 min. before she took an opportunity to rest her eyes. She was still a little out of it for about 24 hours.

My initials are BCR and so are my dad's. My grandpa and great-grandpa also have BCR initials. I figured it was important to keep that going. Amber is quick to point out that most of those were the only boys in the family. We compromised that we would only have a BCR for our firstborn boy. We decided on Cyrus for the middle name (it was my grandpa and great-grandpa's middle name), but the first name was trickier. There aren't that many B names that we liked. We narrowed it down to Barton and Brigham. I had been decided for weeks, but Amber wasn't sure. She didn't want to decide on the name while she was loopy from the meds, but she finally decided.

Thanks everyone for the love, support, and prayers.

Forgot about our blog

I think I forgot that we had a blog. I noticed it today as I was updating my contact info on my iPhone. If you have been following this blog for all this time, bless your patient heart.

The last time we posted, we were living in Virginia. Since that time, we have lived in Indiana and now live in Utah.

I never thought we would live here, but Amber got a job at BYU. We have prayed a lot and come to the conclusion that Amber will work full-time and I will stay home with the kids. I will work part-time, but my main job is staying home with the kiddos. Oh yeah, we have a daughter and a son that will be here by the 22nd of November.  Anyway, I am gonna try to keep up this blog. We will see how it goes.

Here are some pics of Eliza

Groupon: Nordstrom Rack!

Sarah told me I need to write another blogpost about the latest and best Groupon out today.....

This will make for some great holiday shopping....I love Nordstrom Rack....it's all the great stuff from Nordstrom at a discount! I found it today under the city Honolulu, but it's good at any NR store (but not online) until 12/31/10. Again, perfect for Christmas shopping! And you can use it on sale items! And it like getting $25 worth of merchandise for free!

If you haven't signed up for Groupon....you should because it's amazing! Everyday there are amazing deals all over the country. Just last week, Bart and I went to DC to watch Bobby Flay and go to a cooking show with a Groupon we bought. And for full disclosure, I get a referral bonus if you use my link so I love when new people sign up.

One of these days, I'm going to write an actual blogpost....not just write about good deals I find on the internet. But there are so many out there! Today, Bart and I are going to Tanger Outlets to each get a $50 giftcard for $25....again, perfect for Christmas shopping! That was a Facebook deal that I got earlier this week (sorry, it's no longer available). There are just so many great coupons/deals out there to take advantage of.....and for someone who hates to pay full price, it's a dream come true!

Oh, and here's the fine print for NR deal...it looks like a lot, but it's pretty basic for gift certificates:
  • Limit 1 per person
  • Good for $50 value of merchandise ($25 customer Paid For value plus $25 Add-On Offer value)
  • Add-On Offer Value EXPIRES ON* December 31, 2010 ($25 customer Paid For value never expires)
  • Add-On Offer Value is valid from November 19, 2010-December 31, 2010
  • May not be redeemed for cash except as required by law.
  • Valid only at Nordstrom Rack locations
  • Offer may not be used as payment on account
  • Will not be replaced if lost or stolen
  • Must be used in a single transaction and surrendered in store at time of merchandise purchase
  • May not be used to purchase Nordstrom Gift Cards
  • Value of merchandise purchased must be at least $50, or remaining balance will be forfeited
  • Offer cannot be combined with any other offers, discounts, promotions or with a Nordstrom employee discount
  • Offer not valid in Nordstrom Stores, Last Chance, nordstrom.com or by phone
  • No adjustments on previous purchases
  • Not reloadable

Today's Groupon: 50% off Gap

Okay, so I know I've already posted a Groupon deal recently, but I just couldn't pass this up...especially if you love the Gap!

Today's Groupon for most cities is $25 for a $50 gift card to Gap! When I saw my email this morning, I quickly went to my computer to buy it....I love the Gap, but it's kind of expensive so I don't get to shop there as much as I'd like. It can only be used in-store, not online, but almost everyone has a Gap near them so that shouldn't be a problem. And it can be used on sale items!

If you haven't used Groupon before, follow this link so I can get referral points. Thanks!

Here's all the fine print...in case you're wondering.

  • Offer valid from August 19, 2010 through November 19, 2010 in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Canada only at Gap stores.
  • Not valid online or at Gap Outlet, Gap Factory Store or The Gap Generation stores. Not valid on Keds® and Robeez®, or diaper bags and strollers at babyGap.
  • Offer is good for one time use only and Groupon must be surrendered at time of in-store purchase. Discount applies to Gap merchandise only, not to GiftCards or applicable taxes. No adjustments on previous purchases.
  • The value of the merchandise purchased must be at least $50. Not valid for cash or cash equivalent. Offer cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts, including Reward Cards and the Gap Inc. employee discount.
  • If Groupon is not redeemed by the expiration date above, it may be redeemed for a $25 Gap GiftCard in U.S. and Canada Gap stores only. Not responsible for lost or stolen Groupons. Offer is not transferable.

So, we've moved to Virginia

For those that don't already know, we moved this week to Danville, Virginia! We are sad to leave Athens....I would have been fine living in Athens, GA for the rest of my life....maybe we'll return someday to live and raise our family there!

Bart just got a job working for a nonprofit agency that provides in-home therapy for at risk youth and their families. He's really excited to start practicing therapy again and to be working with families. We are so grateful that Bart got such a great job right out of graduate school....we'd been fasting and praying, and this job was definitely an answer to our prayers. We saw the hand of the Lord guiding us every step of the way. His first day of work is tomorrow, and we're excited to start this new phase in our life!

I don't have any pictures yet of our house that we're renting....hopefully soon we'll be unpacked and then I'll take pictures. Right now, there are still boxes everywhere and furniture out of place. We're probably about halfway done unpacking. The best part is that I can take my time and relax and not be so stressed like when I was packing it all up. We love our new home and are so grateful we found it.....we have lots of room and love visitors....so come visit us!

Shabby Apple, here I come!

Okay, so I usually don't post about great deals, but I couldn't pass this one up....and it's for today only.

There's a website called Groupon.com that has great deals everyday. It's called Groupon because it's kind of like a group coupon. They post a daily deal and a certain number of people have to buy it before the deal is actually on. If there are not enough people who buy it, then you aren't charged and don't get the coupon. But, if enough people buy it, then the deal is on!

So, today's deal for Indianapolis
is for Shabby Apple!
I've always wanted a Shabby Apple
dress or swimsuits, but they are way to
expensive for me. Right now, you can buy
a $100 giftcard for theironline store for only $4o!!!!
That's a 60% savings!!!

I'm way excited to get my giftcard today. And since it's for their online store, it doesn't matter if you're not in Indy.

You can get up to two giftcards, each for $100, but you can only use one per order. And the giftcards can be used starting tomorrow through December 31, 2010 so you have awhile to use them! Unfortunately, it doesn't cover shipping....which is $8.95, but I think it's worth it if I'm saving $60.

On a side note, Groupon has a referral system. So, if you decide to buy this giftcard, click HERE so I can get the referral points. Also, Shabby Apple's website is running slow today...I'm guessing it has to do with the Groupon....

Master Bart

Bart officially graduated on May 8th from the University of Georgia with his Master's Degree in Social Work! We are so happy and excited to see what the future brings!

I didn't get a good picture of him on the stage getting his hood...this is as good as I got. This is right after with his dean behind him. I might have to break down and buy one of the photographer's photos.
But here he is after. Somehow I didn't get a picture of him with Bobby and Janice, who were also there at the graduation.

Chris broke her leg the week before his graduation, and so we visited her afterward to get some pictures with her and Bart together.

Now we're just looking for a job....we'll keep you updated when we find out!
