First Father's Day

The first time I saw Brennen have interaction with kids was with our sister-in-law Shantay's little sister Malarie, and I knew from those firsts moments he was going to be an amazing dad. While we were dating and first married we would go over to the Hahn's house for dinner on Sunday's and every time we were there Mal had Brennen wrapped around her finger. We would often wonder where they were and would find them in the piano room with Brennen getting "singing lessons"! Wherever we go kids are always drawn to him and you will find him playing and talking with them. I have sat back and watched this a few times and have come to the conclusion that the reason kids love him so much is because he makes them feel special and really pays attention to them.

Well the last six months he has done the exact same with more love and care with Miss Avalynn. This little girl adores her daddy! Whenever she wakes up from a nap and we come out of her room she looks around for Brennen, and when he is in the room she has a hard time focusing on eating because she wants to see what he is doing and play with him. I love watching those two together and am so thankful for a husband who loves to play with and interact with his kids. Avalynn is one lucky little girl!

This isn't the greatest picture of either of them but the only one I got from Father's Day
We had a yummy dinner with the Haynie's. Brennen and Hudson were just chatting away all evening!
On Saturday night Jenna and I made these "Burgers & Fries" that we saw on Bakerella. They were the best burger and fries I have ever had! =)

6 Months

(click on the image to make it bigger)

Wow! Half a year has already flown by, time just needs to stand still sometimes. Here are some things about Avalynn at 6 months:

15 lbs 14oz- 55th Percentile
25 3/4 in- 55th Percentile

-Loves to blow spit bubbles

-She is a little chatter box. Makes "dada", "mama", and "nana" sounds

-LOVES food! She opens her mouth for more as soon as the spoon leaves her mouth. The only thing she hasn't been to fond of is squash. Her favorite food is Avocado and Bananas

- Makes "mmmm" sounds while eating

-Is a social butterfly when it comes to older kids. She acts like she is one of them by screeching and talking to them.

-But has stranger anxiety with adults

-When she wakes up from sleeping when know she is up by the "clicking" sound on the monitor... it's her lifting her legs and throwing them down over and over!

-Starting to scoot on her tummy

-Laughs and giggles... usually at herself, she thinks she's pretty funny!

-Does what we call "The Bulldog Face"... She scrunches her face up and breaths in and out really fast. (There is a picture on the bottom row)

-Still loves to be swaddled and never cries going to sleep

-Sleeps between 10-12 hours at night

No Bake Cookie Kisses

A few nights ago Avalynn was tucked snugly in her bed so Brennen and I were taking some time to get a few things done. He was planning his week and I was sitting on the couch looking at some things online. Brennen came over with a half chewed No Bake Cookie in his mouth and gave me a big kiss! "Wow, thanks babe, smells like cookies" I said. We both then sat there enjoying a few rare minuets together since summer is our busy time. I asked Bren "What are we doing?", he responded, knowing full well I meant what are we doing with our life after the summer, "we're having No Bake Cookie kisses". He always knows how to make me laugh! But as we talked about our plans come October I kept thinking how I really do need to enjoy life in the moment. Even though some of our plans for the next year may not be set in stone I need to enjoy what we are doing here and now, and enjoy those No Bake Cookies kisses!
