Better late than never

Beckham is here, born 5/7. He is almost 3 weeks old. Where has the time gone? He is cute & healthy. Reminds us a lot of Will. He has a head full of dark hair, which we love. Big brother Will is doing as well as expected, I guess. Overall, loving his brother. Life sure does get back to normal a lot quicker with your second child. Life does not pause at all for a 2 year old. So, we have been trying to make life for Will as normal as possible. It has it's challenges for sure. I admire all your parents out there. Will definitely requests more attention, more hugs, wanting to be held and wanting a bottle :) It's funny how how we have only had Beckham at home for a short time, but cannot imagine life without him already.

Last Hurrah

We wanted to take a last family vacation before the arrival of bambino numero dos (initially hoping to head to Cali, but decided against the long drive), so we headed down to Zion for a few days (I had never been there, crazy, I know). It was so fun. Perfect weather, small hikes and just having a good time together. Here's Wes & Will on the Emerald Pools Hike.

And here's me, prego belly & all @ 34 weeks

This pregnancy is going too fast...

Here we are at 31 weeks prego. Holy Moly, this pregnancy is going by too quickly. I am super excited, but also nervous about being a mother of 2. Feeling good luckily, minus the frequent trips to the bathroom and having to continuously bend over to put Will's shoes & socks on numerous times during the day.
A month or so ago Will decided he was done napping. Yep, cold turkey. It was quite the shock. I tried over & over the entire week, but he refused. Major meltdown kind of refused. I was sad, very sad (yes there were tears). I had pretty much given up hope for naps, except in desperation I would take him for a drive, he of course would fall asleep and I would pull over and read a book. I really just needed a few moments to myself.
However, the good news is this week he has now napped 3 times. Yippee. So, it hasn't been every day, but, every few days. In a major desperation day (last Saturday), I was convinced he needed a nap, so he would last during the evening, and not become a monster...which happens about 5:30pm each day. I put him in his crib, and pretty much boxed him in, not letting him climb out. He was in a major meltdown and said he wanted to lay on the floor and put him jammies on. So with little negotiation I made a bed on the floor, put on his jammies and left the room. Honestly, just waiting for him to walk out. But...Happy day, it worked, he napped. And when he did wake up and opened the door, he said, "Mama, I'm happy." As I have repeatedly told him that naps make him happy. So there's my nap saga, a few days in. Wish us all luck.
Playing in the snow, yay.

Christmas & Winter wrap-up

We had a lovely Christmas with Family & Friends. Time off work, and spending time together. Loved it.

Enjoyed the lights downtown on New Years.

Will loves to cook with me...well, at least taste the goodies.

He pulls the stool over and wants in on all the action.
Christmas Eve, sporting his Toy Story jammies and a ring pop-happy little guy indeed. He literally will ask to wear these pajamas every night & every day. What to do when your child wants to wear pajamas all the time? Well, he often gets his wishes to avoid the meltdown. Yep, that's us wearing bright green pajamas (or others) out & about.

And last, but certainly not least...the baby belly has popped out. 25 weeks baby!
Baby Boy due this Spring. We are excited, anxious, nervous & every other emotion. When we asked Will what we should name the baby brother he proudly responded with "Two!"

A very Happy Be-Lated Halloween

Yep, it's the middle of November, and I am still talking about Halloween.

Well, it's a pretty important reason, right? You betcha.
We've told the fam., and I've spilled the beans to my work, so now it's time to post on the blog.
Happy Halloween from all of us:

Will, Amy, baby skeleton & Wes too.

Summer Update

Summer is almost over, grrr. Having a fun Summer. Enjoying the park, swimming, time with friends & family & our first trip(s) to the E.R. for our little man to get stitched up. Lesson learned...when in need of stitches (& it's after hours) go straight to Primary's. Don't go to the local insta care & then to St. Mark's Hospital. Wait 3+ hours to then have the doc refer you to Primary's. Total time for our little fiasco (Will jumping on the couch-then over the couch). 6 hours, 7 stitches, 3 doctors, 2 ER medical bills (yikes), and one very unhappy child during the whole procedure. The doctor said that 9 out of 10 times when the child receives the medication to calm them down they go into a "happy drunk" state. 1 out of 10 times they turn into an "angry drunk." Yep, Will was most definitely an angry drunk. He screamed the entire time while 2 nurses held him down. It was not fun to watch. Although after he was kind of loopy, which was entertaining.

First major goose egg, after hitting the sidewalk during the fireworks
A few days later...stitches
Good thing he's a boy with all these bumps & bruises

Loving the swing

Enjoying a bright blue cupcake & carrots at the same time, why not?

1st time boating

In attempt to capture a self-portrait...best one we got.

OBX, NC

Where to begin with our fun Boyack family vacation to the Outer Banks, NC??? We spent 8 days with the family, going to the beach, playing in the pool, riding bikes, seeing the sights, eating food, having talent shows, dance parties, playing games, relaxing & just laughing & spending time together. Because 3 of Wes' siblings live out of state it was SO fun to all be together. It was truly one of those vacations that was sad to see it come to an end.

Will enjoying the sand
Will all tuckered out while playing at the beach. This day we drove to the far north end of the Outer Banks, (just a few miles past our beach house) which leads you to a dirt road, and then you can drive on the beach (thanks to 4 wheel drive cars). We also saw some wild horses here.
Playing on the beach was so fun as the water stays shallow quite a ways out, the waves were mild, the water was a good temp, and the sand it soft
(sorry CA beaches, the East Coast beaches are better).
Bodie Island Light House. Loved this. Yes, Wes wore this wife beater a lot during the trip...he's on vacation, right? He purchased these for all the boys, so they could surprise their mom during our family picture. And then, they re-appeared at all times the rest of the week.

Jockey's Ridge, Sand Dunes. We climbed up, played, flew kites & and let the kids run around. It is a beautiful setting.

Kitty Hawk. First In Flight, where the Wright Brother's took flight. Wes & I have a 'flying' picture here when we were dating in DC & took a weekend vacay to the OBX, and we wanted to re-create it...now with Will.

The entire Boyack crew. Family Photo time. Yes, we also took some serious photos (unfortunately, it was a tad windy), but I liked this funny picture.

Family Photo Time. Some of our favorites moments were going to the beach at night. Loved this. Beautiful, warm and just lovely.

Will's first time in the ocean. He loved it. He said, "I want water," "I want beach" the entire trip. This was also the start of his "I want..." phase.

A night stroll on the beach.

Running around at Kitty Hawk. Will has now decided he does not like the camera, & looks away when he sees me with it. Hence, a lot of pics with his eyes the other direction.

Hanging at the Beach

The 3 boys: Will, Zack & Blake. All age 1. These 3 boys had a fun time together, minus Will starting to push & hit during this trip...not so fun for us or the recipients. Sorry Zack & Blake. Can't wait for you guys to be great friends!

Thanks Wally & Gaylynne for this wonderful time in NC. We loved it! And thanks for the good times with all you Boyack's...we miss you all already!
