Halloween 2014

Halloween was quite an event this year. Carving pumpkins, School Harvest Festival, corn maze, ward trunk or treat, Grandma's trunk or treat, and finally trick or treating. We ended up with  exhausted kids and WAY too much candy.

Carson was a combat ninja (as opposed to a stealth ninja from 2012...very different!)
Owen's costume was my favorite this year as a vampire. This was decided after he chose (and purchased) a power ranger, yet told everyone he was going to be a vampire. Needless to say, the power ranger was returned and vampire purchased.
Wyatt was a clone trooper (with armor). When looking for costumes he kept asking what weapons he would get with each costume. Apparently it's all about the accessories! His cousin, Jake, ended up with the same costume! They had a great time harassing a baby dressed up as Yoda all night!

Emma wanted to be Picachu. She was a great missionary and invited her friend Piper to the trunk or treat! These two girls were CRAZY!

We visited the corn maze with a couple of families. We split up this year and let the boys all go together. It was a great time!

With much persuasion, we went an extra block this year of trick or treating! Owen got too tired and had to rest!

E-3 Fun Run

Our family participate in a 5K fundraiser for our school district. The kids were not very enthusiastic about the event. It took a lot of prodding to get them to the finish line...but we made it!

Emma and Carson sung the national anthem at the start of the race.

A picture with Roary, our school mascot.

Making it to the finish line!

Disneyland--Without Me

The last non-student day Todd took the day off and he and Grandma took the kids to Disneyland.
They were so excited to each get their own Dole Whip!

They had a great time on Pirate Island.

Funny Kids

I was in charge of Sharing Time last Sunday and was teaching a lesson on honesty. I told a story about a boy and his dad. His dad was going to take some corn from his neighbor's farm and asked his son to go with him to keep watch. As he was hopping over the fence he was looking left and right to see if anyone was watching. His son then says, "But Dad, you forgot to look up." At this point I have a dramatic pause letting the message of the story sink in. Then I ask, "What did the boy mean? What was he talking about?". Wyatt yelled out, "the security cameras!"

Owen: Are there murderers here?
Me: (shocked) No, we live in a pretty safe place.
Owen: Well then how did Grandpa die?
Me: He did not get murdered. He just was old and died.
Owen: Well, who pushed him off the cliff then?
Me: He didn't fall off a cliff. He just died of being old. I don't have a clue what you are talking about.
Owen: Well, Dad SAID!

Happiest Place on Earth

Watch the game...go to Disneyland...or both!!

Moments with the Mortensens

The kids put on a circus for Todd and I. Emma was the "ticket seller" (if you couldn't read the sign on her head!). They had practiced so much with the dogs beforehand that the dogs were worn out by the time the show started and just laid there the entire show.

 Mother Daughter Activity Girls night.

Free donuts for Talk Like a Pirate Day..."Swab the poop deck!"

Pretty sunrise view from our front yard.

Teaching the boys how to mow the lawn...it's about time!!

Crafts for General Conference. I would like to say it kept the kids quiet and busy, but I won't lie.

 Angel game with the boys.

Playing in the rainstorm...yes, Owen is swimming in the puddle.

My sweet Wyatt requested a father's blessing to help him feel confortable sharing the gospel with his friend, Dilan.
