Joshua Tree Spring Break

This year we went camping in Joshua Tree over Spring Break. One of my friends asked us to join them and some families from their ward. It was so much fun! Holly camps like I do...with lots of food so we did lots of eating. Todd could only join us for a day in the middle of the trip so the kids and I set up and took down camp by ourselves. The kids were great the entire trip, and were big helpers. The boys were able to pass off a couple of cub scout requirements and we even persuaded everyone to take a 3 mile hike.

Minute to Win It

Our school had a mother son Minute to Win It activity. The boys rocked all the games. Their favorite was moving the Oreo from their eyes to their mouth without touching it. Carson even won a sweet Lakers poster. Love these boys!!

Riley's Farm

Carson took a field trip to Riley's Farm. My mom used to go every year with her fifth grade class and loved it so I was really excited that Carson got to go. Todd even got chosen to be a chaperone. Carson learned a lot about what it was like to live in America during the Revolution. He had a lot of fun...until he got married (he still won't talk about it)! He got to grind flour, write a note with a quill, but his favorite part was the battle. He was on the British team and lost.

 Time Out For Women
Had a fun weekend with my friends in Pasedena.
Have to say the best part was going to Dots to get cupcakes for lunch!

Felicity

Emma got her first American Girl Doll for her birthday. She really wanted Felicity "because she's wild and free like me". Unfortunately Felicity is retired so we ended up getting her a used one on Craig's List. The unfortunate part is that her leg fell off 7 days after she got her! (apparently she's not ready for motherhood) So, after a trip to the doll hospital (yes, there is such a thing) she came back good as new...and even wearing a hospital gown!

Mad Science Party

Emma and Wyatt decided on a Mad Science party for their birthday. Todd was the mad scientist and we enlisted the help of my mom and Ryan to also be professors to help run the different Science experiments. We had about 20 kids from school and church come to help celebrate.

They started out by making molecules out of toothpicks and gumdrops. The kids LOVED doing this!

Then they went outside for a volcano demonstration--amazing.

Next, the kids split up into four different groups and rotated through different Science experiments.

homemade lava lamps

slime

 elephant toothpaste

Alka Seltzer rockets

And my favorite part was the awesome volcano cake. I think it turned out pretty good, complete with sparklers for candles. The lime Kool-aid with dry ice was pretty cool too.

After presents was the Diet Coke geysers. They went so high and were really cool to watch. What I wasn't expecting was the kids to run and dance in the spray...sorry parents!

Basketball Season

This season was a busy one, with all three boys in basketball at different gyms! It was Owen's first time playing an organized sport and he loved it. One time we were going to be 45 minutes late for practice and he wouldn't skip it. He loved running back under the net and playing defense. Carson and Wyatt both had a great season as well.
