In 2009 we learned...

January
It is never too cold in Orange County for the beach.
24th birthday- You are never too old to make silly faces.
February
That Kate could now stand herself up in her cradle. We had a good 8 months in there.
How to make baby food!
March
Babies look really cute and squishy in a helmet.
Swallow's Day Parades are fun, and that Kate can make silly faces too.
April
That Kate really was going to get teeth! First glimpse...
That Kate was self conscious. Mad at us for taking a picture of her chubby body in a bikini.
May
We would never eat dinner sitting next to eachother anymore. Matt also learned that 29 is a lot close to 30 than 28 was.
A night or two away from your first baby is hard, but much needed!

That we had the cutest one year old ever. And nothing is more cute than a chubby face wearing a Birthday Princess hat.
Kate really could do something other than roll around and drink milk! She crawled!!
June
We learned a lot of fun swimming songs at swim lessons, and that Kate did NOT like going underwater.
That Saturdays beach days as a family=perfection.
July
All about mold! Found our first lovely home, and began the 4 month long process.
That Kate could walk!!!
That we have some great friend to vacation with, and that everyone needs a little boating time. Also, that babies act really funny with life jackets on.
August
That cousins are fun to play with.
And three years together seems like forever! (In a good way!)
September
Kate is happier in a one piece, looks pretty cute in pig tails, and that the beach really is our favorite spot.
That Escrows really do close, and that signing all the papers is a lot more glamorous on TV.

How do tape off a room, sand, paint, scrub, clean any and all nasty things clean, and install toilets. We also learned every employees name at Lowe's, and decided to nick name it Lowe's Blows.
Remove, cut and lay tile, tile, tile! And that maybe next time we will pay someone to do it for us!
October
After a year of waiting, moving day seems like Christmas morning!
November
That Gerber's food is not completely safe...and Kate gets a really scary look in her eye when she is choking. (The Gerber Lap tested that chunk she choked on, and told us it was a "woody carrot fiber"..more on that later)
Disneyland is super fun with an 18 month old.

That we work well as a painting team, and we can remodel (I use that term loosely) a whole bathroom in a 2 days. We also learned that Frog Tape works pretty well!
December
That Kate had lost 3 pounds, and Ani gained those three pounds plus one. Happy, but sad day.
Rainy days really can be fun, and that Kate always has to take the trash out with her Dada.
And that being a family of three is really fun.
It was the best year, and we are excited for what 2010 has in store for our family!
Happy New Year!

Note to Self: Don't forget...

1. A few weeks ago, in the middle of the night, Kate woke up crying and we cuddled on the couch. We laid down and our noses were touching. She was looking right into my soul! She was looking from one eye to the other and all around my face. She started to very gently rub my face, and then she whispered "Mama". Besides her birth, and getting married, it was the best moment of my life.
2. Every night when I tuck her in, I saw, "Goodnight sweet girl" and right before I close the door, I wave at her, and she always does this little tiny wave back. I love it.
3. When we kiss her goodnight, she thinks it is so funny when Matt and I kiss. She pushes our heads together, and then she tries to kiss us both at the same time.
4. She was sick on Saturday night, and was crying. I asked her what she wanted, and she replied, "Milk". I was trying to find the will power to untangle myself from her and the warm quilt we were under. After about 30 seconds, she pushed me and said, "Go, Go, Mama!"
5. Yesterday we were in the shower. I was trying to teach her numbers, while she played with "Duckie". We went 1-5, and then she said 6. So I thought, hmm, I guess we will go to 10. Then I was teaching her to say "one", when asked how old she was. She gave the right answer a few times, and I was just thinking how smart she was. I asked her again, and she looked at me with a big smile, and said, "Six!" with a lisp and all.
6. She ran into my bathroom, pointed to herself in the mirror, and said, "Me!"
7. On Christmas morning, she was little unsure at first about all the new toys in our family room. After a minute of soaking it all in, she looked at me and gave a shy little smile. So cute. Then we put her on the Radio Flyer Trike, and she smiled and said softly, "Mine. Mine!" I have never ever heard her say that word before. It was very sweet how she said it.
8. She has been loving her new kitchen Santa brought her. She put a little turkey in the microwave, turned the button, and then waiting a few seconds and then said, "BEEP!" and then opened the door! She is very observant I am finding out!
9. Last night around 10:30 she woke up crying. She had her milk early, and did not eat very much dinner, so it was hard to just ignore her. I went in there with some milk, but of course she wanted me to pick her up. She got the milk from me and then pointed at the door saying, "dis, dis, dis," (this). I asked her want she wanted, and she said, "Dada, couch!" She loves snuggling on that couch with him. She is just a girl who knows what she wants.
10. She has this toy that pops balls into the air, and she tries to transport it to whatever room we are in. We hear her straining and grunting, and she comes in struggling to carry that thing. The whole time she says, "Ahhhh, heaBy, heaBY!!!"

December Update

The first week of December we bundled up and picked out a perfect tree!
Matt (Scary Eyes) took off a day, which he never does, and took us to Disneyland!
We bought her several cute hats this winter, but this was the only one she would wear! Stinker.
Kate loved saying, "Ho, Ho, Ho" when she saw Santas around, but flipped her lid if we go too close. This was at the library for story time! The Santa kept saying, "Mom, just come sit on my lap!" ...Ok Santa...
Did a little crafting...this was my gift to my sister.
Grammy had a cookie night!
Cute Carter and Kate- 5 weeks apart in age!

Christmas Eve. So fun that she is getting old enough to do things like this with her.
So excited for Chipmunks. We listened to their Christmas album all month long.
We enjoyed a day at the park with Kate's cute cousins. When did she turn 16?!
Ward Christmas party...Kate loved the doughnuts, and hated Santa.
Matt and Kate watching Chipmunks.
We three Taylors. Christmas Eve 2009
Maybe my favorite picture from the hundreds I am sure we took! Kate loved her doll from Mops on Christmas Eve. And playing with her second cousins. And eating WAY too many cookies from Uncle Dave.
Reading The Night Before Christmas to Kate...missed my Papa Long, he read that to us every year.
Matt reading from the Bible the birth of Christ

more to come. we had a fun and busy month.

Holiday Fun

Kate helping her Daddy put the tree in the stand.
Cookies, hot chocolate, and Christmas music to decorate the tree.
Kate helping me make muffins for our breakfast.
Every morning Kate would point to the tree and say, "Tree! Lights!"
I forgot to get her a Christmas dress. This is what I pulled together...a little flashback to 1990's with that turtle neck and jean skirt!
Just reading a little Christmas book.
She knows this is where the suckers, cookies, candy, etc. is usually kept...she pulls me over there and says "HELP! Cany! Sucker!!" I have since replaced the suckers with raisins.
This one loves her ketchup. I was doing dishes and turned to see my very own little Rudolf!
